Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 86: Chapter 77: Neural System Mutation

In the game ”Cyber Realm,” developing a faction is actually not an easy task.

This is something that, whether in his previous life or this one, Gao Gong deeply understands.

Hasn’t anyone thought about forming a team to boost their scores? Huang Wen thought about it, and then he became a vegetable.

First, you must be able to hold the ground, which is especially important in the professional group of Mechanical Hunters.

Second, you need money

Recruiting a Cable Tribe means solving the food, drink, and other needs of over two hundred people, and to establish a combat team, you need to solve these people’s weapon upgrades, prosthetic replacements, gun and ammunition.

Third, you need people

Without Daisila and her old teammates’ day and night training, without Huang Wen’s behind-the-scenes manipulation, without various monster-pulling divine artifacts, no matter how many people, they would still be a scattered mob.

Fourth, you need to know the trade

If not for the profession of Prosthetic Doctor, who would be willing to entrust their body transformation to you

Most importantly, you must give people hope, and this is actually the hardest part.

Heroes emerge from circumstances, without the right circumstances, Gao Gong would have had to endure humiliation, living under the skirts of two rich ladies.

Although he hasn’t exactly risen up even now.

But in the eyes of outsiders, Gao Gong has created so many miracles in just two months, it is simply incredible.

”Currently, I am quite satisfied with the situation,” Demon Mountain said at the end, nodding.

If the battlefield is so yellow and you’re satisfied, how red must your previous mechanical wars have been.

Demon Mountain was unaware of Gao Gong’s internal complaints and continued, ”But I hope everyone will not be complacent, one big reason we have been able to secure a foothold among the Beast Tide, is because the opponent is very cunning.”

”Cunning?” Someone from the Symbiotic Squad spoke, the electronic voice indistinguishable between male and female, but faintly revealing dissatisfaction.

This one seems to be the top student, good students sometimes have a one-track mind.

Demon Mountain’s attitude towards this one was very patient, even better than Gao Gong’s.

”The reason is simple, on the current battlefield, besides those large Mechanical Beasts blocked by large robots, have you seen any other B-level Beasts?”

”You must know, both ’Duke of Fission’ and ’Crimson Empress’ originated from Radiation Beasts, the ones they should have the most of are Radiation Beasts.”

”Eliminating dissidents?”

A Major couldn’t help but snicker, how come the captain of the Symbiotic Squad is a bit of a natural airhead.

”Radiation Beasts don’t eliminate dissidents, their Beast King Authority is enough to command everything,” Demon Mountain explained expressionlessly, ”What I mean is, their real main force hasn’t been deployed yet.”

”They want to wait until the Beast Tide level increases, then wipe us out in one fell swoop?”

”Exactly,” an officer from the command room, a Colonel, spoke up, ”Some people might be puzzled, why don’t we strike first, after all, in terms of firepower, we have intercontinental missiles, space-based weapons, energy bombs, and all sorts of long-range weapons, we could realize unlimited bombardment.”

”In such a scale of bombardment, as strong as an A-level Radiation Beast is, it can’t withstand.”

”It’s not that we haven’t tried.” An Oasis Staff Chief spoke up, without a Mechanical General, they are the highest military authority in Oasis.

”A-level Radiation Beasts were killed on the spot, but the Beast Tide did not stop, it became even more rampant.”

”The most dangerous Beast Tide is not the one with the most Radiation Beasts, but the ’Beastless Tide.’”

”The reason is, after an A-level Radiation Beast dies, its power doesn’t dissipate, but completely integrates into the Beast Tide, turning the Beast Tide into a complete Mutated Energy Tide.”

”Therefore, in every Beast Tide, we let high-level Radiation Beasts in, cut off their connection with the Beast Tide, and then execute the kill.”

Saying this, the Oasis Staff Chief glanced at Gao Gong.

”This time, we also intended to do the same, obviously, the opponent did not fall for it.”

”Are we just going to keep waiting? Until the Beast Tide intensity is unbearable for most and we directly admit defeat?” The captain of the Symbiotic Squad continued persistently.

Gao Gong also realized, this guy is indeed a bit of a straight man, doing comic relief here.

”This is the second phase of the task, in fact, not all B-level Radiation Beasts are off the battlefield, without high-level Beasts guiding, the Beast Tide would only go with the flow, not against it.”

”However, these B-level Radiation Beasts are all up there.”

Demon Mountain pointed upwards, in the virtual command room, five giant Mechanical Birds appeared.

Although these five Mechanical Birds were of different types, they all had the same huge body size, each one looking like a bomber.

”Since the opponent refuses to send the main force, then our target is to sever one of its arms!”

”Specific hunting plans are as follows...”

...

As the Cyber Hacker disconnected, Gao Gong’s vision gradually returned to normal.

”Ugh, without an electronic defense wall, my prosthetic eye is like my underwear, any rich lady can try it on.”

The reason being, the ’Beast Tide Energy Cutting Device’ of the Security Corps are all heavy equipment, only he is lightweight.

But Gao Gong also made a request.

That is, Du Zhaodi’s ’Preparatory Mechanical Committee Member,’ the word ’Preparatory’ must be removed.

The other party agreed.

Gao Gong approached Professor Han, who seemed to know Gao Gong would come.

He directly led him into a room.

There was nothing in the room, only a huge Nutrient Pool.

The same model as that of the Cable Tribe back then.

In the pool, a miniaturized ’Brain-in-a-Vat’ was slowly swimming, Spiritual Nodes continuously lighting up on it, like twinkling stars.

This is a special prosthetic surgery.

It’s special because this surgery isn’t about implanting a ’Sub-Body’ into Gao Gong, but rather implanting Gao Gong into the ’Sub-Body.’

Professor Han did this back then.

Of course, due to someone’s sabotage, the plan didn’t succeed.

”It’s already adjusted to the most suitable state.”

”The electric eels you brought will ensure that during the implanting process, even if there’s Radiation Field interference, all electronic instruments will still work normally.”

Gao Gong nodded, slowly took off his clothes, and then soaked into the pool.

Among all the people, Professor Han is the only one who knows his plan, and ’sub-body implantation’ is just the beginning; if everything goes well, biological rejection will no longer be an issue.

By then, the old-school Mechanical Hunters will revive once again.

And the Mechanical Hunter profession will split into two, one is the current Mechanical Transformation stream, which will become bigger, heavier, and stronger under the ’exclusive Mechanical Hunter modules’ transformation.

And the other is the Classical Stream of Biological Hunters, which will no longer be a fleeting presence but will become a foundational sustainable profession.

Gao Gong believes that the grand picture he painted is enough to eliminate 1% of the professor’s revenge ideology.

What’s that phrase again—La Dance of the Pieds?

As Gao Gong’s entire body was immersed in the nutrient fluid, he immediately felt his respiratory system gradually fail.

Or in other words, some liquid had already flooded into his body.

A warm feeling spread across his entire body, as if returning to the mother’s womb.

Consciousness gradually sinks.

Sinking

Sinking

On the surface of a sea of memories, intention rises and falls with the waves, yet unable to grasp a drop of sea water.

He needs a hand!

Beneath the surface, a tentacle of gigantic proportions emerges, swallowing Gao Gong whole.

And in Professor Han’s eyes, red silk threads emerged from Gao Gong’s naked body, increasing in number, as if taking root and sprouting.

These threads were finer than single molecule lines, turning the nutrient fluid a shade of crimson.

They were called nerve bundles.

There are cranial nerves in the brain

Optic nerves in the eyes

Neck nerves in the cervical region

Muscle skin nerves in the muscles

Spinal nerves in the vertebrae

For a moment, Gao Gong seemed to transform into a flagellate within the cell fluid, its flagella swaying slowly, as if searching for a new cell to parasitize.

Professor Han remained calm, swallowing the brain-in-a-vat appeared much scarier than this.

Perhaps because Gao Gong only engulfed a sub-body.

Or perhaps because Gao Gong’s physical strength far exceeded that of Professor Han’s.

Or Gao Gong had potential to become a ’brain toilet’.

Or simply, it’s just common that the first time is a novel experience and the second time becomes familiar.

In any case, the ’surgery’ was smooth.

Just like when the original host implanted a ’titanium alloy inner skeleton,’ whenever any human body system’s transformation rate greatly increases, it inevitably boosts the transformation rates of other human body systems.

This is called synergistic transformation.

Unlike mechanical transformation, which enhances known abilities, biological transformation enhances unknown abilities, or rather, mutation abilities.

A massive energy was gestating on Gao Gong’s body surface, with a fine biological electric charge emitting from innumerable nerve bundles, gradually weaving together.

[Your neurons have mutated]

’Professor.’

”Hm?”

Professor Han looked up, only to find Gao Gong’s mouth still tightly closed.

’Open the door, tell Matsushima Keiko to bring Daisila to the operating room; I will be there shortly.’

Professor Han was momentarily stunned.

”You have acquired this ability too.”

Telepathic communication, he could do this before as well.

Professor Han opened the door, only to see Matsushima Keiko covered in bloodstains, carrying a stretcher in a rush.

”Daisila, Daisila is severely wounded, she’s dying!”

”To the operating room, Advisor Gao will be there soon.”

Matsushima Keiko was briefly taken aback, quickly expressed her gratitude, and dashed in another direction.

Meanwhile, the ’nerve bundles’ covering Gao Gong started to gradually retract.

With the final nerve bundle withdrawn into the body, a ’ding’ sounded.

[Your profession transition mission has been completed, successfully transitioning to Senior Prosthetic Doctor]
