Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 83: Chapter 74: Beast Tide

In the office of the six-story factory, three new management members met.

A logistics major, an equipment department lieutenant colonel, and a logistics manager Zhao Mechanism.

The lieutenant colonel looked at Zhao Mechanism with a smile: ”Manager Zhao, the opportunity is given to you, don’t let us down again.”

Zhao Mechanism looked at the gradually forming transformation factory and took a deep breath.

He originally thought that without obtaining the information, he would be sidelined, but unexpectedly, there was another chance.

He was temporarily taking over Old Zhou’s managerial position, responsible for the production of biological exoskeletons.

The experts from the Security Corps have confirmed the feasibility of biological transformation.

The major beckoned, and a group of people in white coats poured in, behind them were nutrition tanks, each containing a massive biological organ, large tentacles, skinned arms, along with a large mass of wriggling blood lines.

”These are radiation organs brought from the front line, and a company of soldiers will be here soon to undergo transformation.”

The major raised his chin, and in a display screen not far away was a secretly taken ’Human Transformation Data’.

”You and Director Du are from the same background, so we trust you and give you a second chance, make sure you seize it!”

”The higher-ups have high hopes for the Biological Warrior Project,” the major paused, ”if you can’t do it, you know what the consequences will be.”

”Yes!”

After saying goodbye to everyone, the major went directly upstairs, where one of the temporary command posts was located. He found Brigadier General Geville and whispered a few words.

”Hmm, Zhao Mechanism still has the ability; otherwise Old Zhou wouldn’t have transferred him to the Security Corps. Let him do it boldly; I’ll have our Prosthetic Doctor assist him.”

The major hesitated to speak but finally couldn’t help saying: ”General, since we have already acquired the technology, why risk tearing the alliance apart?”

Geville sneered, ”What if the alliance is torn apart? As long as we are one step ahead, our Security Corps can grasp this mighty weapon ourselves; it’s worth it.”

”What are the two of them doing now? Are they troubled by the lack of biological materials for transformation?”

The major was taken aback and said, ”Uh, they seem to be manufacturing other mechanical equipment.”

Geville waved for the major to leave, then silently opened an email in the visual sensor.

...

On the eighth-floor temporary factory, as soon as Director Du took over, production efficiency increased by thirty percent.

’Monster-Attracting Divine Artifact’, ’Special Effects Production Machine’, ’Beast Taming Circle’ were continuously being produced off the production line.

Gao Gong grimaced as he climbed out from a machine, covered in grease.

”Indeed, running with the bucket back then was a wise move, it almost killed me.”

[Transfer Task One, ’Old Leads New’ has been completed]

”Maintain silence during work!”

The ponytail girl had already entered ’Director Du Mode’, her face solemn, even spirits couldn’t disturb her.

Gao Gong wiped his hands, his face shifted, glanced out the window, and suddenly the light overhead went out with a buzzing sound.

”The Beast Tide is here!”

In a place visible to the naked eye, first, a red light began to cover, then a black line appeared, with radiation beasts of varying sizes led orderly by a leader advancing towards humans.

”Red Radiation Circle right from the start,” at a firepower point, Daisila frowned, her expression somewhat serious.

Red indicates D-level Radiation Beasts, which means that those who cannot withstand the aura of D-level Radiation Beasts cannot participate in the ensuing battle.

”After the last failure, you seem to have lost your sharpness,” Huang Wen’s electronic voice emerged from the drone.

Daisila was taken aback.

”The old you wouldn’t be so uneasy.”

Daisila did not retort but took a deep breath, holding three electromagnetic spears in her hands that crackled.

”I’ll leave this place to you. From now on, you are the commander of this defense zone.”

”What I’ve lost on the battlefield, I’ll take back from the battlefield!”

...

Almost the moment the Beast Tide appeared, numerous helicopters rose into the air, covering half the sky like a flock of birds.

Various types of missiles also emerged from armed fortresses.

In the next moment, hundreds and thousands of missiles launched together, like a brilliant meteor shower.

The mechanical bio-beasts in front hadn’t even reacted before being engulfed in explosions.

The commander of the Beast Tide was clever.

The ones appearing at the front line were all mechanical bio-beasts; if it were radiation beasts, it might trigger a chain explosion reaction.

The missile bombardment almost never ceased, and the advance of mechanical beasts never stopped.

Above the Beast Tide, a dark mass descended from the radiation layer, it was a flock of mechanical birds, led by different kinds of mechanical bird bosses, swooping straight at the friendly sky domain.

Among the bird flock, there were also hundreds of decaying armed planes.

Their surface covered in a layer of crimson fleshy mats, using the most standard tactical movements to confront their former comrades.

Sky warfare commenced before ground warfare.

”Calling 430 Flying Dragon, calling 430 Flying Dragon!”

A helicopter pilot couldn’t resist using the radio to contact his former comrades-in-arms.

”Ma Yong, you idiot, what are you doing!” the weapon control officer couldn’t help but curse.

”I just thought I saw Feng Jian! He’s not dead yet!”

On the other end of the radio suddenly connected, a weary voice came through.

”This is Feng Jian, is that Ma Yong?”

”Old Feng, you’re not dead, that’s great! You need to make an emergency landing right now, I’ll get someone to meet you!”

”Emergency landing, huh?” Feng Jian’s voice took on a strange tone, ”I’m afraid there’s no time.”

”No time, how could it be—”

Ma Yong’s pupils suddenly shrank as he saw two tracking missiles precisely lock onto him, followed by a giant explosion erupting in the air.

Inside the Flying Dragon, Feng Jian was calmly operating the plane. In his modified prosthetic eye, the pupil had vanished, leaving only bizarre numbers generated when the wild virus hacked in.

...

Meanwhile, on the ground, the confrontation also officially began. Two hundred large combat robots stood at the forefront, towering three stories high, their upper bodies encased in heavy armor and equipped with over a dozen large melee weapons.

They had four arms, and as the combat chips activated, their hands deftly drew out electromagnetic toothed blades, close combat energy cannons, six-barreled Vulcan cannons, and gravity guns.

Like a metallic tidal wave crashing against a mechanical dam.

’Boom!’

Even from a distance, many people’s windowpanes cracked due to the ’explosive impact’.

...

Inside an armed fortress, over a hundred mechanical arms were conducting final exoskeleton adjustments.

’Inject battlefield concentration potion?’

”Yes.”

’Inject muscle enhancement medicine?’

”Yes.”

’Inject neural enhancer?’

”Yes.”

As needles were inserted into the armor’s pinholes one after another, Zhou Cong’s expression grew both cold and fervent.

His physical capabilities had at least doubled from before.

As for the side effects, as long as they could withstand the beast tide, what did those side effects matter?

Standing in front of Zhou Cong were several ’manipulation exoskeletons’. They resembled large robots, but were not controlled by ’artificial intelligence’, rather by professionals connected to various control levers and filled with connection lines.

This was a combination of ’neural manipulation’ and ’manual control’.

They would replace when the combat robots’ structures exceeded 50% damage.

And after the robots returned to the battlefield, they would fill in other defensive lines.

Behind them, there were over two hundred exoskeleton warriors like Zhou Cong.

They had another mission.

The mission was simple: during the stalemate phase of the beast tide, they would conduct a decapitation strike on B-level Radiation Beasts.

There was only one solution for the beast tide—to kill as many high-level Radiation Beasts as possible, forcing the beast tide to regress back into the Radiation Circle.

...

Large Radiation Beasts temporarily couldn’t breach the Oasis, but smaller mechanical beast groups could penetrate through the frontline’s gaps.

Although considered small, many were as tall as two stories high.

For Mechanical Bio-Beasts, this was already relatively ’diminutive’.

In a ’vision’ composed of countless surveillance cameras, Huang Wen silently watched as countless Mechanical Bio-Beasts invaded.

As a ’vegetative person’, he hadn’t felt anything for a long time.

The beast tide brought him a long-lost thrill of excitement.

In the next moment, twenty ’monster-attracting divine artifacts’ were activated.

The power of the Mechanical Bio-Beasts’ electronic eyes surged, driving most mechanical beasts into a frenzy and then dispersing them.

The ’open virtual projections’ along the road also activated one by one.

Simulated buildings, roads, and even defenders would greatly steer the beast horde in the predetermined direction.

According to Huang Wen, he wanted to lead the Radiation Beasts into a maze bristling with machine guns.

Mines, hand grenades, machine guns, rocket launchers, prosthetic weapons, and saturation strikes began at the same time.

The eyes, mouths, connecting pipes, and neural lines of mechanical beasts were critical points, with many semi-mechanized life forms collapsing on the charge path.

More mechanical beasts then spiraled into madness, seeing enemies everywhere through their electronic eyes.

”Seventeen!”

”Eighteen!”

”Nineteen!”

The scattered mechanical beasts were taken down one by one by the prepared mechanical hunters.

Matsushima Keiko, holding blade weapons, with her combat chip fully activated, caused a blood sakura storm wherever she passed.

She was just one school uniform away from a Japanese high school girl.

Fat Xiang roared, transforming into a deformed giant, sweeping with a giant wolf fang club.

Compared to previous transformations, with the absorption of Reaper Cells, he became even more ferocious, often charging head-on against Gun Beast bullets.

Three-Handed Daisy blocked a C+-level leopard-shaped Mechanical Beast.

The human and the leopard locked eyes fiercely, displaying a semblance of similarity between them.
