Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 79: Chapter 70: Ocean People

In the center of the ’Mechanical Airship’ lounge, there was a large ornamental fish tank, with some colorful bionic fish swimming inside.

However, at this moment, the bionic fish were each shocked to the point where their skins and flesh split, electronic components from their bellies floated on the water surface, as if they had been disemboweled.

The bionic fish were dead, replaced by eight ’Thundercloud Electric Eel hatchlings’ over two meters long. These mutated ocean life forms seemed dissatisfied with the ’cramped’ living environment, their tails constantly sparking, blue light flickering continuously in the water.

”The generator is here!”

Fortunately, two Exoskeleton Warriors connected a backup generator to the tank, the strong voltage causing the Thundercloud Eels to comfortably let out a series of purrs.

The hatchlings finally quieted down.

The onlookers glanced at each other, speechless for a moment.

Who would have thought that those Thundercloud Electric Eels were really here to spawn offspring?

When Gao Gong walked into the cabin carrying eight big fish, everyone was stunned.

Zhou Cong hesitated for a moment and said, ”Those Thundercloud Electric Eels probably see you as an Eco Beast.”

”What’s an Eco Beast?” Zhao Mechanism couldn’t help but ask.

”When a whale falls, all forms of life arise, the whale is the Eco Beast. The marine survival environment is far more complex than land, and the mutated life within tends to join an ’Energy System’ to coexist, and the organizers of such ’ecosystems’ are the Eco Beasts.”

Du Zhaodi said softly, ”You can simply understand it as one Eco Beast being a small Beast Tide.”

Zhou Cong added, ”I once fought near the coast and saw a Mechanical Giant Whale comparable to an aircraft carrier, as well as an Eight-Clawed Giant controlling an entire fleet. Countless mutated sea beasts were nurtured and spread in the ships. The appearance of such Eco Beasts is a huge test for the Mechanical Legion every time.”

”They really see me as a nurse,” Gao Gong said while stroking his chin.

Zhao Mechanism was stunned for a moment and blurted out, ”Then why not just throw them away? What if those giant eels come looking for them?”

Gao Gong looked at Zhao Mechanism as if he was an idiot.

”They left their offspring at your house, and then you threw them away. Do you think their parents wouldn’t go all out against you?”

Zhou Cong stretched out his armored-covered hand, but before he could touch the glass, the air was already thick with charge, wrapping around his fingers, making a ’sizzling’ sound.

The eel in the water suddenly turned its body, its fist-sized eyes warily staring at him.

Zhou Cong withdrew his hand, shook his head, and said, ”No need to be so pessimistic, this might be a good thing.”

”I’ve heard an expert say that seabed minerals are far richer than those on land, and relying on just one Radiation Beast isn’t enough for seabed mining. Thus, marine Radiation Beasts are more inclined to a cooperative foraging model, rather than conflict and slaughter.”

”Their ’herbivore’ nature far outweighs ’carnivore’, of course, when they haven’t initiated a ’Sea Tide.’”

”With these Thundercloud Electric Eels’ pheromones, at least during our return trip, there’s no need to worry about being attacked by thunderstorm winds.”

Disregarding its danger, this ’electric eel’ is actually a very beautiful creature, its blue, almost transparent body, sapphire-like eyes, exuding a hazy radiance all over, it would definitely be worshipped as a Water God in ancient times.

”At least we don’t have to worry about the factory running out of electricity.”

Gao Gong stared at the attributes displayed on the system, mumbling to himself.

Aside from the unexpected ’Thundercloud Electric Eels’, the journey was smooth, and around three in the afternoon, Gao Gong and his team successfully reached the outskirts of the ’Hunter’s Tomb’.

It was a gigantic-level forest, its scale far exceeding the concrete jungle of the Metropolitan Area.

Within it, Gao Gong could feel a more peaceful force, like a deity standing among mortals, gazing evenly at all life.

The Exoskeleton Warrior scouting ahead suddenly gestured for them to conceal themselves.

Gao Gong pulled Du Zhaodi behind a tree, and soon, a muscle-horned antelope appeared not far away.

This antelope was over two meters tall, with two horns on its head resembling bent steel bars, a streamlined mechanical helmet enveloping its head, and prominent muscles extending downward from its neck.

It calmly walked to a tree, curled its tongue around the metallic fallen leaves on the ground, and chewed slowly. After about five minutes of eating, it leisurely departed.

The Exoskeleton Warrior ahead signaled the group to set out again.

Upon reaching a waterfall, the group saw another Mechanical Bio-Beast.

This was a three-story-high Mechanical Rhinoceros, with a body surface covered in massive metal modules, its spine sporting mane-like cables, and four jet holes on its abdomen sides.

At the moment, it stood underneath the waterfall, letting the water cleanse its ’steel frame’, and every five minutes, the four jet holes would spray a torrent of murky water.

Strangely enough, it was like a car wash.

After a full half an hour, it finally shook its head and stepped out from the waterfall, before lounging on a mountain rock nearby, its electronic eyes flickering a few times before suddenly ’blacking out’.

This should be ’sleep’ or ’hibernation’.

At least it’s not a shutdown.

This Mechanical Rhinoceros is obviously much stronger than the Horned Antelope from before. Although it’s not B-level, it’s estimated to be at least C+ standard.

Besides this rhino and antelope, Gao Gong also saw a Mechanical Ostrich, Heavy Armored Yak, and Foldable Wing Duck, all living leisurely.

”So peaceful,” Du Zhaodi couldn’t help but say.

Compared to the violent darkness of the Beast Tide and the perilous steps of the Metropolitan Area, this place is more like a zoo, only all the animals inside are half-mechanical life.

”We’re almost at the spot you mentioned,” Zhou Cong spoke up.

Gao Gong glanced at the map and nodded, ”Yes, we’re almost there.”

Gao Gong did not hide the heritage of the Classical Stream Mechanical Hunter. In fact, he needed such a story background.

An ordinary Mechanical Hunter accidentally inherits the legacy of the previous generation, gaining powerful strength. This is a plausible story.

Without this story, if Gao Gong suddenly came out with a bunch of high-tech blueprints, he would definitely be dissected for research.

”Be careful, something triggered my alarm system,” Zhou Cong frowned, pressing a button on the Exoskeleton. Instantly, the protective arms on both sides recessed, and two palm-sized drones flew out, quickly disappearing.

Zhou Cong turned his head, and the electronic radiance from his eye sensor scanned Gao Gong, whose prosthetic eye immediately gained a ’small window’, sharing the drone’s view.

Gao Gong silently sighed, thinking to himself that he must install a ’firewall’ for himself later, even if it’s a basic version.

Otherwise, the prosthetic body would be like a sieve.

Sharing the view is fine, but what if it shares a private video?

He is such a serious person.

Soon, through the drone’s perspective, he ’saw’ thick white fog. Not long after the two drones entered the fog, Gao Gong’s window turned into a snowy screen.

”The drones were attacked,” Zhou Cong’s face was grave.

”Wild virus, electronic life, or just pure physical attack?”

”Unclear, but the last image transmitted from the data terminal was of a humanoid creature.”

”A humanoid creature, it can’t be a scavenger, right.”

Gao Gong raised an eyebrow, thinking the possibility of a mutated wildman was higher.

Soon, the group arrived not far from the fog.

Zhou Cong divided the people into three small groups. Gao Gong and Du Zhaodi formed one group, he and Zhao Mechanism another group, two Exoskeleton Warriors formed the last group, and the rest stayed on the periphery to guard, ensuring no problems occurred outside while exploring the fog.

Zhao Mechanism saw Gao Gong and Du Zhaodi in a group and instinctively opened his mouth, but eventually closed it again.

Gao Gong wouldn’t take him along, and Du Zhaodi wouldn’t pay attention to him, so what’s the point of saying anything?

Gao Gong took Du Zhaodi’s hand, and as they entered the fog, he activated the Radiation Field.

However, surprisingly, the usually unstoppable Radiation Field lost its effect, as if a wall blocked all the radiation energy.

Gao Gong couldn’t sense anything.

”This should be a new kind of invisible material, similar to radar coatings, but it blocks not electronic signals, but energy beams.”

Du Zhaodi scanned the white fog and made a judgment with a professional eye.

”Looks like we have indeed arrived.”

Gao Gong’s right eyelid flickered twice quickly, and under the Infrared Horizon, the fog seemed unaffected.

Does this defend against radiation beasts but not Mechanical Transformers?

The two continued exploring and soon discovered a gigantic corpse.

”So big!”

This corpse was only a size smaller than the previous Mechanical Rhinoceros, still two stories high. Gao Gong was amazed because this creature was actually a lobster in its original form!

A super-sized steel lobster!

The lobster’s shell was wrapped in a thick layer of ice. Du Zhaodi took out anti-radiation gloves, put them on, and then picked up a piece of stone from the ground to start knocking. Seeing her skilled posture, she must have done quite a bit of ironwork in the factory.

After knocking off an ice block, the ponytail girl took out a flashlight. Under its light, the ice block surface didn’t show a hexagonal pattern but had a dusty appearance, as if countless tiny needle points were sealed within the ice.

”It’s nuclear ice, it came from the sea.”

Nuclear ice, also known as nuclear ice, is a byproduct of a nuclear winter, usually appearing on ice floes at the surface of the sea.

After experiencing a ’planetary reshaping’ level of war, heat and light became a minority, cold, dampness, and desolation became the main theme of this planet.

Gao Gong circled around but found no external wounds. Perhaps it died of starvation or of cold.

Gao Gong narrated this as a joke to Du Zhaodi, to which the ponytail girl gave him a pretty eye roll.

Soon, the two of them found a second corpse.

This corpse reminded Gao Gong of a paper he had seen in Professor Han’s laboratory.

”Is it possible for Ocean People to exist”
