Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 76: Chapter 67: Male and Female Cooperation

There were not many people in the meeting room, but they were all high-ranking: Quasi-Generals, field-grade officers, AI robots, logistics supervisors. Gao Gong even saw a few Cyber Hackers with their Implantation Chambers covering most of their faces.

It is well known that the larger the Implantation Chamber, the higher the hacker’s level.

Everyone also looked at Gao Gong. This young man had a slight smile, not mocking, but certainly not respectful either. Especially when he bowed slightly and his gaze swept around, everyone felt a chill, as if they were being stared at by a vicious wild beast.

In their eyes, even the shadow beneath Gao Gong’s feet seemed to shift, baring fangs and brandishing claws, eager to pounce at any moment.

”Good! Good! What a Mechanical Hunter!”

A voice like a heavy hammer suddenly rang out, immediately dispelling the aura Gao Gong had created.

On the main seat, a nearly three-meter-tall Super Modified Being looked at him with appreciation.

General Zhong, the Demon Mountain!

Gao Gong squinted his eyes. Compared to the bloated and chaotic mechanical components of a gorilla, the armor on this guy had both aesthetic and dangerous qualities. Such a large body, yet not a hint of clumsiness.

This feeling, he had only experienced from a B-level Radiation Beast.

This guy’s Body Transformation definitely exceeded 50 points, and as for Mechanical Energy, it should be over 500 points.

Don’t underestimate this number. Unlike Mechanical Bio-Beasts, weapon systems, armor systems, and some external equipment aren’t included in humans’ Mechanical Energy.

This doesn’t fall within the realm of Mechanical Life.

If all of these were included, this guy’s Mechanical Energy would have to add a zero.

And if size is considered.

Under the same size, even the Super Mechanical Ape King might not be his match.

Another elderly Quasi-General smiled and said, ”I didn’t expect that in our Oasis, a Mechanical Hunter would appear.”

’Mechanical Hunter’ is a high accolade, a ’Strong Title’ for one who can cause significant damage to large mechanical systems.

For instance, every A-level boss is a Mechanical Hunter.

One person is equivalent to an entire mechanical army.

”I don’t dare claim that,” Gao Gong slightly bowed his head, ”it’s just for making a living.”

Quasi-General Geville was very satisfied with Gao Gong’s display of humility. He thought the other would be very unruly.

After all, even mechanical elites from the Legion didn’t hold much regard for generals like them.

”Very good, I believe when the Beast Tide arrives, you will certainly make a great impact.”

A field-grade officer chimed in, and another officer from the equipment department took the opportunity to speak.

”However, no matter how strong one person is, facing the upcoming Beast Tide, they cannot turn the tide alone.”

”One person is not enough, a group of people might have a chance. Our Public Security Corps warriors, though heavily armed, cannot last long; if you could share your Body Transformation technology with our Legion to withstand the Beast Tide, our success rate would increase by at least 30%.”

”Of course, we wouldn’t let you give this away for free; weapons, equipment, prosthetic bodies, whatever you need, we’ve got it.”

That was treating people like fools, trying to exchange products for core technology. How could one have such a naive thought?

Gao Gong didn’t speak, suddenly the door was flung open, and a spirited girl with a ponytail burst in, her gaze coolly sweeping the room and settling on Quasi-General Geville.

”Director Du, we’re in a meeting.”

”Director, we can report these issues to you.”

”Indeed, Director, let us step outside first.”

A group of logistics staff surrounded the girl with the ponytail, but the aura around her was too strong, no one dared approach her, let alone forcibly remove her.

Geville frowned. The factory director was equivalent to a Major in the Security Corps, and he usually didn’t take them seriously.

But at the ’inspection’ juncture, if the other party misused their authority, it would cause significant trouble.

Once the situation on the battlefield turned unfavorable, and the equipment system dredged something out, he could become the scapegoat on the spot.

Thoughts raced through his mind, but outwardly he spoke gently, ”Director Du, is there something you need?”

”General, there are some aspects of the equipment documentation I don’t understand, I need an explanation.”

”Alright, please wait a moment, take a seat in the adjacent reception room, and I’ll be right there.”

Du Zhaodi looked at the only standing figure in the room, Gao Gong, a flash of excitement in her eyes, but then she turned her head away.

”I need to know your meeting’s content and duration.”

”I need to confirm this isn’t another waste-of-time charade.”

Quasi-General Geville sighed, about to speak when Gao Gong cheerfully interjected.

”The meeting is about my Body Transformation technology, the generals believe my technology has the power to change the tide of war.”

Everyone’s heart skipped a beat.

This was bad!

As expected, Du Zhaodi looked at Gao Gong with interest, after a long pause she finally said, ”Bring me a chair, General Geville, I assume you don’t mind me eavesdropping, do you?”

Geville’s mouth twitched, his face rigid, suddenly he flared up angrily, ”Why are you still standing? Bring a chair for the review committee!”

The Demon Mountain happily glanced at his old partner, as a front-line Mechanical War General, with the most advanced weapons privileges, he wasn’t overly concerned with controlling technology.

But he enjoyed seeing this old schemer brought down a notch.

A Major cleared his throat, steering the topic back on track.

”Since that’s the case, what’s your stance—”

”This matter can wait a bit,” Gao Gong suddenly lifted his head, his smile vanished, ”there’s something I’d like to ask the Legion generals.”

”We Mechanical Hunters battle on the front lines, protecting the Oasis, yet when our comrades were assassinated, where were you?”

”Three-Handed Daisy, Mechanic Huang Wen, Wilson, Hound Hunter, Bomber...”

Gao Gong rattled off twenty or thirty names, and the expressions of the high-ranking personnel before him began to change, from suspicion to confusion, anger to panic.

”Assassination, are you serious?” Demon Mountain frowned, ”Why am I unaware of this matter?”

He wasn’t lying; he truly didn’t know.

Firstly, mercenaries like Mechanical Hunters die too quickly on the battlefield, rising to fame one day and buried in foreign lands the next.

Secondly, as the situation changes, the scattered skirmish tactics are gradually transitioning into large legion warfare, reducing the role of Mechanical Hunters.

There are so many military affairs to handle; who would care that much about the fate of cannon fodder?

But the ’assassination’ the other party mentioned indicates an extremely bad signal that there is a mastermind behind this Beast Tide!

”What evidence do you have?” Geville’s face turned grim; besides the mastermind, he heard another implication.

Someone is covering up the truth.

The Public Security Corps has an insider!

Gao Gong opened the small nutrient chamber he brought along the way.

Inside the ’large glass jar’ was a human head.

”Knight Order combatant, Theodore, my defeated opponent.”

”What can a single head prove?” A lieutenant colonel complained.

Manager Zhou also said, ”If you want to extract memory fragments from the head, you’d need very specialized equipment. We could ask a company specializing in mental connections for help, but there may not be enough time.”

Gao Gong gave him a cold glance, ”Don’t trouble yourself, I have my own means.”

To the astonishment of everyone, Gao Gong’s right hand gradually changed, becoming soft and transparent, ultimately turning into a tentacle full of light spots.

The tentacle that Gao Gong’s right hand turned into actually penetrated the glass cover and entered the temple of the head.

A viscous substance was gradually absorbed by the tentacle.

Gao Gong opened the ’Special Effects Generator,’ and the next moment, an image appeared.

There were two people in the picture, one was Theodore, and the other was Manager Zhou.

’I need the list of Mechanical Hunters on the leaderboard.’

’What do you want to do?’

’That’s none of your concern.’

’If it’s a large-scale assassination, what is my way out?’

’Don’t worry, I’ll find a good place for you. Eating sand in this Radiation Zone isn’t fun.’

Manager Zhou’s face instantly turned pale.

Then, the image split into two, three, four, all similar scenes.

Even a major and a lieutenant colonel present were among the ’leading roles.’

Demon Mountain’s fierce eyes burned, he slowly stood up and let out a cold smile.

”I didn’t expect there to be so many insiders!”

”Men, arrest them first!” Geville shouted, and immediately a row of Combat Robots rushed in, blue light flickering in their electronic eyes, locking on targets one by one, pressing them to the ground.

Some loudly protested their innocence, while others remained silent.

Geville looked at Demon Mountain, ”Quarantine them for review first, after confirming the truth, send the guilty ones to the military tribunal.”

Demon Mountain had a stirring in his heart, wondering if this was a sign of covering up.

These three seem to come from logistics, is he preserving their dignity, or...?

”No need to trouble the two generals, we will avenge our own comrades!”

Gao Gong, who had been acting well all along, suddenly revealed his claws, his palm turning dreadfully terrifying as he appeared in front of Manager Zhou in a flash.

Five fingers pierced directly into the opponent’s neck, and a sound resembling the digestion of ten big-belly men emerged from the biological suction holes.

In the next moment, Manager Zhou was sucked into a human husk.

Two eyeballs fell out from the shriveled eye sockets.

[Mission completed, experience +1500, Security Corps favorability +500, Aunt Xiang favorability +200]

”What are you doing!?”

This time, even General Demon Mountain, who always saw Gao Gong favorably, was enraged, a massive roaring noise erupting from his Mechanical Body.

The favorability of the Security Corps is not the same as the favorability of certain powerful individuals within the Security Corps.

Someone actually dared to kill in front of them; it was like a direct slap to their faces.

One by one, combat robots over two meters tall surrounded Gao Gong.

Many had a peculiar light in their eyes.

They were very interested in Gao Gong’s transformation technology.

Why buy when you can rob?

Originally, there was no excuse, but now, here it is.

Besides the Advanced Combat Robots, Exoskeleton Warriors also emerged from various corridors.

The drone muzzles also glinted outside the windows.

No matter how good you are at fighting, how many can you take on?

Demon Mountain was just about to verbally coerce the opponent into surrendering when Gao Gong once again took the lead, turning his head towards Du Zhaodi.

”I am willing to transfer my technology to the factory in exchange for your protection.”

”What do you think, beauty?”
