Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 75: Chapter 66: Two Deadly Enemies

Under the ’guard’ of a group of Exoskeleton Warriors, Gao Gong walked down the street with his hands in his pockets.

The streets were bustling with people, besides the Security Corps’ Transformers, there were the Mechanical Hunters.

”Holy crap, it’s him!”

”Who? Looks familiar, Humanoid Beast!?”

”That monster is back?”

After four days and four nights of combat livestream, at least in the local Oasis, Gao Gong was a household name, everyone knew of the terrifying battle prowess of the person in front of them.

And even more terrifying endurance.

”Do you know? There’s a saying now,” Zhou Cong jested at the front: ”You alone are worth a mechanical army.”

Gao Gong shrugged, not responding.

”Four days and nights aren’t your limit, right?”

A gambler by the roadside suddenly shouted loudly.

Gao Gong didn’t answer, but an Exoskeleton Warrior glanced at him vigilantly and forcefully pushed him away.

”You’ll definitely come in first, I’ve staked my entire fortune on you!”

”I didn’t expect to find reckless gamblers here too,” Zhou Cong sighed.

”Where aren’t there gamblers? Aren’t you and I gambling with Radiation Beasts?”

”Wilderness Lone Wolf, stop!!”

A loud shout suddenly came from the front, a huge figure over three meters tall pushed aside all the onlookers and rushed in.

Wilderness Lone Wolf, wasn’t that my old nickname, someone still remembers it now!

Gao Gong got a little excited, Big Muscle Dominator doesn’t sound as good, people today have no sense of nostalgia; nicknames aren’t condoms, you can’t just throw them away after use.

Gao Gong looked up, scrutinizing the nostalgic person in front, wanting to confirm if it was an old acquaintance.

Uh, don’t know him.

But this guy’s transformation, it’s intense.

This guy had over a dozen mechanical attachments on him, all directly cutting off body parts and forcibly implanting prosthetics.

This is called ’Component Transformation’, a very painful transformation method, the Neural System is directly linked to the equipment, with each use bringing intense pain.

The only benefit of such transformation is being able to more intuitively test the weapon’s performance.

The opponent’s limbs, spine, eyes, kidneys, shoulder blades, everything visible to the naked eye, flesh and machinery merged, with threads of blood seeping from the implantation points.

More strangely, at least half of the mechanical components on his body weren’t available on the market.

This means the opponent is either a low-profile super-rich heir, or he borrowed a lot from corporations, becoming a test subject for new weapons from a Super Corporation.

”How is it, seeing the current me, are you surprised?” the opponent seemed very pleased with Gao Gong’s expression, sneering: ”Not becoming my teammate is the regret of your lifetime.”

Who the hell is this?

Gao Gong lowered his head, thinking.

Not far away, someone exclaimed in surprise: ”The Black God ranked seventh, is he going to challenge that monster?”

Black God? Never heard of him.

Gao Gong was still pondering, but Zhou Cong frowned, gave a signal with his eyes, and the next moment, three Exoskeleton Warriors went up.

”Hunter, don’t block the way!”

”Get lost!”

Black God powered with one hand, rows of exhaust ports on his arm opened, and with a burst of air explosion, he swept like a steel pillar, slamming fiercely into the three Exoskeleton Warriors.

The opponent’s physique was huge, yet surprisingly quick, in such a short distance, the Exoskeleton Warriors were completely unprepared for the opponent’s sudden strike, and hadn’t reacted before being swept away.

”You’re courting death!”

Zhou Cong was furious, under the mechanical force of the exoskeleton, he instantly appeared under Black God, both hands open, the ’Small Beam Emitter’ in his palms turning red-hot.

The next moment, a terrifying shockwave swept in a fan shape, after the explosion sound, the tall figure slightly leaned back, and then a strange sound rang out.

”Is that all the damage? Nothing more than this! So I am this strong!”

Black God slowly looked down, the implanted skin already burned away by the high-temperature shockwave, leaving only two high-speed spinning Prosthetic Eyes and an electronic circuit and wire-filled mechanical face.

Electromagnetic weapons lit up simultaneously.

All the Exoskeleton Warriors were furious, they’d never seen a Mechanical Hunter so arrogant, daring to attack them in broad daylight.

Gao Gong glanced at the opponent’s gigantic metal arms, a familiar feeling flashed by.

”I remember now!” Gao Gong slapped his palm: ”You’re that Black Ape!”

”I’m called Black Death Ape!!”

Black God swung his hands furiously, countless gun barrels ejected from the metal arms, looking like they were about to unleash a barrage of fire.

But Gao Gong disappeared right under his nose.

”Hey, you really want to fight?”

”If you really want to fight, I’m worried you’ll be ganged up on.”

On his right, Gao Gong grabbed his arm with one hand, pointing with the other to the sky, where two high-tech helicopters without rotor blades had appeared over everyone’s heads, their dark muzzles glowing with a red tint.

These weren’t the old-style helicopters, but Level 4 Flying Devices, their power source being a closed Energy Reactor, usually used in satellites.

This energy furnace has an advantage over a small nuclear reactor in that it can achieve resupply-style space travel through absorbing cosmic rays.

This level of flying device comes equipped with genuine energy weapons and is classified as a Level 2 Civilization.

Though Black God has mental issues, he’s not stupid. He cast a wary glance at the flying device above before crazily glaring at Gao Gong.

”Remember, if you can’t be my teammate, then you’re my lifelong enemy. Someday, I’ll twist off your head and hang it on me as my trophy!”

After speaking, Black God turned around, pushed past everyone blocking his way, and disappeared into the streets.

”If we weren’t short on manpower right now, I’d definitely take this guy down!” Zhou Cong was extremely annoyed.

”Don’t be angry. What’s the point of being mad at a dead man?”

Gao Gong didn’t really care. Those who sign corporate loans may see their powers rapidly increase in the short term, but for the rest of their lives, they’ll become consumables for corporate products, driven mad by endless human transformations.

Most of these experimental subjects don’t live past three months.

For ordinary NPCs, corporate loans are irreconcilable because you only have one life.

But for certain players, these loans are a chance for a thrilling experience.

These players specialize in scamming various corporations, exchanging reckless transformations for a rapid surge in power to break through a certain task or achieve a boss’s first kill.

This is called a one-shot strategy.

These cheat-player types often give corporations headaches later, and some even leave corporations bankrupt and reorganizing after being scammed.

This is called defeating magic with magic.

Aside from this little episode, everything went smoothly, and soon, Gao Gong was led to the outside of a conference hall in the headquarters.

It seemed a military meeting was being held inside, and they had to wait outside.

People bustled through the hallway, all in a hurry. Zhou Cong caught hold of a familiar face from the logistics department.

”What’s going on, have the Radiation Beasts broken in?”

”Pretty much. That woman is crazily going over old accounts, and we’re trying to even out the balance!”

”Dragon fire burns warehouses, Ghost Soldiers borrow grain, a good omen indeed.”

Zhou Cong glared at Gao Gong, while Gao Gong focused on himself, keeping a look of innocence.

Another conference room’s entrance slowly gathered a crowd as well.

Gao Gong suddenly felt a malicious stare.

He followed the gaze and saw a young man angrily glaring at him.

What the hell is this? Recently, unfamiliar enemies are popping up more often.

One shouldn’t fall into the same pit twice.

After thinking for a while, Gao Gong remembered it was that Zhao Mechanism from the Security Corps.

Doesn’t he have a grudge against Iron Hide? How can resentments transfer?

”You let a woman stand for you, truly despicable!”

Gao Gong squinted slightly. Could this guy know about his relationship with Du Zhaodi? Or perhaps, he’s referring to Black Rose.

After all, Sister Rose is quite formidable too; she might be up to some sneaky operations without his knowledge.

With too many women above him, Gao Gong couldn’t quite figure out which one Zhao Mechanism was referring to.

When unclear, it’s better to ask directly.

”Um, which woman are you talking about?”

Zhao Mechanism looked at him in disbelief, thinking, It’s one thing to be shameless, but how can one be shameless to this extent?

”Ahem, please don’t misunderstand. What if the woman is my mom?”

Zhao Mechanism gritted his teeth, ”I saw it back then. You, this lying, boasting scoundrel, saying you’d make a name for yourself, and it ends like this? Letting her risk her life on the battlefield?”

Gao Gong squinted slightly.

”What’s your relationship with Du Zhaodi? Or more precisely, do we know each other?”

Zhao Mechanism took a deep breath, ”Of course you don’t know me. Back in the factory, you were so prominent, while I was so inconspicuous.”

”But look at now, you—a useless hunter struggling to get by, and me—a representative of the Security Corps!”

”When you fall into my hands, I’ll make you realize what it means to live a fate worse than death!”

”Oh.”

Gao Gong picked his nose, thinking, Why does everyone not follow the script these days? He hadn’t even brushed his teeth this morning, and suddenly had two ’life-and-death enemies’.

Lack of interactive plots here.

After pondering, since they were ’life-and-death enemies’, perhaps stirring up more resentment was fine.

Gao Gong, in an exploratory tone, explained, ”So, Mr. Zhao, Captain Zhao, is there some misunderstanding between us?”

Zhao Mechanism raised his chin, scoffed coldly, and showed disdain.

”Take this ’making a name for yourself’ line for example. It doesn’t necessarily have to mean ambition, it could be a kind of position too, right?”

Before Gao Gong could see Zhao Mechanism’s expression, the conference room doors opened, and he was surrounded and taken inside.

Though why did it sound like there was a cow breathing heavily behind him?

Did the cow catch fire?
