His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2144: Chapter 619: With Us_2

After taking a shower, the two of them lay in bed, each busy with their own things. Qin Mingzhu asked her to pick up the kids earlier tomorrow, and Qin Mu responded affirmatively.

Mu Yichen lay with his back to her, annoyed by her kindness towards Qin Mingzhu.

Suddenly, he missed those years when their sisterly relationship wasn’t good.

But as the long night wore on, neither of them had the intention to say another word. Qin Mu later turned off the lights, the room was pitch-black and silent, making even breathing seem like something to be done gently.

As the night deepened, a small rain began, making the room’s temperature drop. Qin Mu, still on her period, instinctively turned over and in the darkness, found the familiar body whose warmth made her instinctively gravitate towards him, allowing herself to continue sleeping peacefully.

However, the man beside her stayed awake deep into the night, quietly feeling her legs rubbing against him, getting irritated and furrowing his brows, though his arm habitually draped over her shoulder.

Realizing her shoulder was a bit cold, Mu Yichen gently pulled the blanket up to warm her, ensuring she’d be warmer, then held her and stared at the ceiling.

Meanwhile, Qin Mu slept soundly in his embrace.

Later, Mu Yichen would find himself smiling at his own thoughts; she was always proud, always thinking she was right, always believing she was rational enough, but now, wasn’t she lying in his arms?

Telling him not to argue with her?

Yang Qin’s matters alongside Gongzhi Ping’an’s, can they be compared?

In truth, the importance wasn’t those two people, but them as a couple. Mu Yichen reflected on how he often quibbled, how he allowed himself mistakes but wouldn’t tolerate her contradicting his desires, yet he chose this for the rest of his life.

He was confident in himself, but he wasn’t sure if she could manage herself well. Mu Yichen unconsciously tightened his grip on her, because he had to hold her steady, fearing she couldn’t control what she thought she could.

Qin Mu’s temper had improved a lot in recent years, but she occasionally couldn’t stand his nitpicking, especially since the Yang Qin incident arose. He didn’t comfort her properly, yet tried to control her—she was merely having a meal with childhood friends, sharing a table with nearly twenty people—how could he see it that way?

Their arguments and cold wars were inevitable, but the aftermath left both body and heart damaged, truly...

——

The next day, Qin Mu made the excuse to help Qin Mingzhu with the kids, leaving without breakfast.

Mu Yichen actually woke when she got up, but he didn’t ask her anything; he just watched her silently as she dressed and went out.

Seven-thirty, breakfast time at the Mu Family.

Feng Fanghua asked her son over breakfast, ”Your wife went out early this morning, didn’t you ask her anything?”

”Of course I knew she was going out, what more should I ask?”

Mu Yichen responded as though it was unnecessary, Feng Fanghua looked at him curiously and smiled, puzzled, ”Did you two make up?”

Mu Yichen...

”Alright, you can tell by his expression. Let’s eat!”

Mu Zihao quietly reminded his wife.

Mu Yichen said nothing, yet felt hurt inside, his father understood him all too well, oh!

The old man and the two kids paid no mind to him, cheerfully enjoying their food.

After breakfast, Mu Yichen was about to head to work. Feng Fanghua, pondering for a moment, stopped him and followed him to the door.

Mu Yichen stood aside waiting, watching Feng Fanghua approach him, seeming to search for the right words.

”I went to see Yang Qin yesterday, heard you’ve already asked her to leave. Let her leave early, to avoid any trouble. It’s awful for your subordinates to gossip behind your back.”

”Anything else you’d like to remind me of?”

Mu Yichen looked at his mother, helplessly catching a hint of amusement at the edge of his eyes, thinking, I never sought you out, yet here you are confessing yourself.

”Anything else? No!”

Feng Fanghua frowned slightly, speculating on her son’s expression as she spoke.

”Then I’ll head to work!”

Mu Yichen addressed her politely, before turning to leave.

Feng Fanghua stood there, feeling a softness in her heart without understanding why—when did her precious son become so patient?

Qin Mu went to the Qin Family, after sending off the couple she stayed to play with her little nephew in the living room.

The auntie washed some fruit and brought it over to chat with Qin Mu, ”It’s been so long since you’ve visited, the second miss talks about you all the time.”

”Really? She surely doesn’t speak well of me!”

Qin Mu said as she held her child, in a decent mood at the sight of the little one in her arms.

”Why wouldn’t she? The second miss looks forward to the eldest miss coming to keep her company at home, she often says she feels lonely at home all day.”

The auntie smiled as she gently explained.

”That must be true, she’s probably never been able to stand loneliness since childhood. Whenever I saw her back then, she was always surrounded by a crowd.”

Looking at the little one in her arms, Qin Mu’s eyes reflected all those times she saw Qin Mingzhu; that girl was always surrounded either by Jing Qing or her classmates, wherever she went, she was always a spectacle.

”What was the second miss like in the past?”

The auntie asked curiously.

”Qin Mingzhu, over the past few years, though she’s become a mother, her temperament hasn’t changed much. Besides disliking being surrounded, everything else remains the same.”

At that point, Qin Mu felt a tinge of sadness, Qin Mingzhu had gone through so much that she became reluctant to make friends easily anymore. Those fair-weather friends ultimately disappointed her!

These past few days, Mu Yichen hasn’t sent her any messages, and today was no exception. After lunch at the Qin Family, she took the child to nap in the upstairs nursery.

The little guy really liked her; whenever by her side he was very happy and quite well-behaved, soon falling asleep in her arms, Qin Mu gently patted his hands to a stop, slowly falling asleep herself.

No need to work, no need to think about Mu Yichen, this was her happiest day.

By around three in the afternoon, Qin Mu took the child to the school gate to pick up Huanhuan.

As Huanhuan got in the car, spotting the little bald guy in the safety seat, she couldn’t contain her excitement, ”Mom, is this my little cousin from aunt’s house?”

”Yes!”

Qin Mu responded, thinking how children quickly forget faces.

”He’s quite cute, much cuter than Mu Chengyang!”

Huanhuan looked at him, instinctively liking him, even reaching out to touch his pinkish mouth corner.

Qin Mu couldn’t help but laugh, telling her, ”Your brother would be heartbroken to hear that!”

”Don’t worry, I won’t say it in front of him! Mom, is this little baby coming home with us today?”

Huanhuan was somewhat excited.

”Yes! Your aunt and uncle are on a business trip, he’ll be staying at our house for two days.”

”Great, I want to sleep with the little brother!”

Huanhuan became even more excited, really loving babies.

Qin Mu glanced at the rearview mirror, seeing Huanhuan seemed to genuinely like the baby.

Though Qin Mu planned to cuddle the little one for the night, she didn’t intend to care about Mu Yichen’s opinion, yet thinking about his expression brought some pressure.

However, Qin Mu oversimplified things. In reality, Mu Yichen wasn’t pleased hearing the cries of a young child upon returning home.

”Who’s the little guy sleeping with tonight?”

Mu Yichen sat on the sofa, watching his daughter and son play with the little fellow, his eyes not very friendly.

Qin Mu came down the stairs, responding to his question, ”With us!”
