His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2138: Chapter 616: Plucking Flowers (Part 3)

”Cough, cough! Look at you, taking it out on me now. To be fair, I only just found out what happened that day myself.”

Qiao Yi was horribly embarrassed. He’d only just heard it from Xi Meng, and he still had lingering fear himself. Xi Meng told him not to be such a pushover, but with his temper...

”If Xi Meng knew that in your eyes she still can’t compare to Yang Qin, she’d probably feel awful too, don’t you think?”

Mu Yichen asked again, his tone light but not light, which was enough to make Qiao Yi nervous.

”I get what you mean. You want Yang Qin gone, right? I’ll find someone to take over from her right away, make sure she’s out of the company within a week, how’s that? President Mu, please be magnanimous and spare this little one’s life!”

After Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai went out, they smoked in the restroom. Qiao Yi looked utterly miserable, and Zhao Huai patted him on the shoulder. ”Think about it. If the two of them end up turning against each other as husband and wife because of Yang Qin, whose head do you think that debt lands on? Yours, Xi Meng’s, or mine? No matter who, it’s not worth it. How many times have we openly and secretly talked to Yang Qin about their marriage? How many times have we reminded her not to give her feelings to the wrong person? Since it still came to this, just let it go.”

Zhao Huai was disappointed in Yang Qin too. She wasn’t some fresh-faced girl who’d just stepped into society; as an adult, her head ought to be clearer.

”That’s true enough. Forget it. Let’s go. We’ve got proper business to take care of.”

Qiao Yi finished his cigarette and dragged Zhao Huai away.

Ever since they’d been caught smoking in the company corridor last time and fined for it, the two of them had never smoked in the corridor again.

Yang Qin just hadn’t expected that in the afternoon, someone would already come up to hand over work with her.

After work, Yang Qin didn’t take a cab. She walked home, and when she looked up at the sky, it all felt like a dream. She’d rushed back to send her grandma off, then rushed back again. She’d meant to really make something of herself, but had fallen deep into a whirlpool of feelings instead.

She had been sure she would never destroy another couple’s marriage, but she hadn’t expected Mu Yichen to take that incident so seriously. She thought it was just something trivial, not worth mentioning, a small episode that, when you thought of it, would even seem beautifully romantic. But the result...

Maybe compared to Qin Mu, everything else was a small matter to Mu Yichen. Qin Mu really was, just as everyone said, his top priority.

Yang Qin was sure that Qin Mu and Mu Yichen must have had a huge fight, even a cold war, over her sitting on that bed, and in the end Mu Yichen still surrendered—to Qin Mu.

Xi Meng had originally wanted to send Qin Mu another message to tell her that Yang Qin was already handing over her work to someone in the company and would be leaving soon, but after thinking about it, she felt she was probably being redundant, so she didn’t mention it at all.

She hadn’t expected that Mu Yichen would also not say a word about it to Qin Mu.

It was only that after dinner that night, the two of them went upstairs, took a shower, and after making love, curled up together on the sofa, watching the star-filled sky outside the window.

Happiness had always been this simple.

Some of those flowers were no longer fresh and had been thrown out by Feng Fanghua. A few that were still fresh were placed in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows downstairs. There was also a bunch of Xiao Zouju chrysanthemums on the coffee table in their bedroom.

Qin Mu casually picked one and held it in front of Mu Yichen, teasingly brushing it lightly across his face. Mu Yichen’s dark eyes looked at her, then he simply snapped the stem and tucked the flower into her hair.

”Hey! You!”

”’When flowers bloom and can be plucked, you must pluck them; don’t wait till there are no flowers and you only break the branch.’”

Mu Yichen said to her with a soft chuckle.

Qin Mu...

Back in childhood, she would be that childish and pick wildflowers to stick in her hair. After growing up, this really was the first time.

A casual little gesture from President Mu, but Qin Mu’s heart felt sweet and syrupy, and she was very happy.

”Do you still remember when I was in fifth grade? That summer we went to summer camp, and you did up lots of wildflowers for me, coiled them up and set them on top of my head.”

Qin Mu slid along his chest, turned a little, and lay down on his legs, her eyes filled with warm sunlight as she looked at him and asked, her face full of inescapable happiness from those memories.

”I don’t remember.”

Mu Yichen’s voice was mild, but his gaze stayed fixed straight on her.

Qin Mu was instantly chilled in heart and lungs by anger, but then she tilted her head back to look at the starlight outside again.

Mu Yichen chuckled softly, and his hands slipped under her clothes, grabbing her most sensitive spot. Qin Mu immediately let out helpless laughter, curling into a ball in his arms. ”No! Spare me!”

Mu Yichen scooped her up and carried her back to the bed.

As soon as she lay down, Qin Mu instantly quieted, her bright eyes looking up at the man over her, with a bit of shyness there, because of that deeply affectionate look in his eyes. They’d clearly just had their fill, and yet he seemed to want...

”Mu Yichen, you...”

”I love you.”

Blindsided by a confession?

Qin Mu felt dizzy, as if the world were spinning. It was like there was something wrong with her ears. Was she hearing things?

Mu Yichen lowered his gaze to her soft lips. Her lips moved just a little—clearly she was only breathing—but to him it looked like an invitation. So in the next second he bent down and sealed her soft lips with his.

In no time, Qin Mu was kissed until she couldn’t catch her breath and lost the ability to think.

In this early winter, it was as if only his body could warm her the fastest. Qin Mu suddenly fell in love with that feeling and wrapped her arms tightly around his broad back.

The night grew deeper, and their feelings grew heavier!

——

The next day, Qin Mu went to the hospital to pick up medicine for her grandpa, then went to the OB-GYN department to find Helian Hao.

Helian Hao had just gotten off the phone with Gongzhi Ping’an and was about to play mediator and talk to Qin Mu, so when she saw her, she was a bit excited. The two of them arranged to go to a hotel for a get-together, grab a bite, then each go home to sleep. But they had just walked out of the hospital when they saw Yang Qin coming over from the parking lot.

Yang Qin saw them too, but this time she only nodded from afar, then went into the hospital.

Qin Mu helped Helian Hao into the car. While Helian Hao was fastening her seat belt, she said to her, ”This Yang Qin pops into the hospital every few days. Looks like her health isn’t in great shape.”

”Maybe. Didn’t she faint last time too?”

Qin Mu started the car, not wanting to say more.

”Oh right, you and Mu Yichen made up over that whole thing with her, didn’t you?”

”Mm.”

Thinking about it, Qin Mu just felt she lacked self-control.

Helian Hao studied her face carefully. ”So was it that under that guy Mu Yichen’s seduction, you basically had zero resistance?”

Qin Mu gave a little laugh and helplessly kept her attention on driving.

”But it’s not really good for you to forgive him so easily. Look at things now: Yang Qin is still working as his secretary at his company, and you act like you don’t care at all. Might Mu Yichen think you understand him so well that he can do whatever he wants, as long as he doesn’t actually cheat?”
