His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2108: Chapter 601: Bashful Little Gestures (Second Update)

Mrs. Mu?

Qin Mu thought to herself, I really didn’t see you treating me like Mrs. Mu, from morning till night, it’s all kinds of sarcasm and criticism towards her, her heart, even if made of iron, would have been pierced through long ago by his endless barbs.

No response, Qin Mu just closed her eyes and felt the warmth and moisture brought by the eye mask.

Mu Yichen watched as she finally calmed down, her chest no longer heaving, knowing she had settled a bit, he straightened up and walked towards her.

Qin Mu didn’t make a sound either, listening to his light footsteps, always feeling he was deliberately careful not to disturb her, but there was a breath stuck in her chest, in short, difficult to express, so the best way was to keep silent.

Mu Yichen slowly sat down beside her, his arm habitually reaching behind her, but instead of putting it on her shoulder, it rested on the back of the sofa.

Qin Mu’s hair gently fell behind, his fingers just touched it, she had just showered not long ago, so it felt particularly comfortable.

Qin Mu felt his fingers on her hair, her heart started to feel a bit chaotic, but she suppressed her anger and didn’t argue with him, and soon, it was like a haughty rabbit stroked into submission.

”What did Qiao Yi say to you?”

Mu Yichen asked her again.

”I don’t remember!”

No need to recall the past.

Qin Mu thought, let’s just leave it, speaking too much might lead to another argument.

”Then, do you want me to help you with a massage?”

Mu Yichen asked her again, suddenly turning gentle.

Qin Mu turned her head incredulously to look at him then looked up at the ceiling, massaging her own eye corners: ”I think it’s better to leave it, I can’t afford such a temperamental big shot as Mr. Mu!”

”Hmm! Still the same as before, loving to ridicule me!”

”Ridicule you? How would I dare? I’m just afraid my little bones will be crushed by your strong and wicked hands.”

Qin Mu said, while grabbing his hand, took a look at it then tossed it aside.

Mu Yichen helplessly smiled bitterly: ”Clearly the one neglected is me, why are you more aggrieved than I am?”

Neglected?

What the heck?

Qin Mu furrowed her brows and turned her eyes to scrutinize him, only then did she see that although he was smiling, he indeed looked quite aggrieved.

”How were you neglected? I was waiting for you all night, just happened to read a novel and didn’t attend to being affectionate.”

”Firstly, you read a novel so didn’t attend to being affectionate, which made me feel aggrieved, secondly, it wasn’t just a bit of novel reading, you read all night, and successfully wore yourself out like this.”

Mu Yichen calmly analyzed, making Qin Mu furious.

”You despise me again? I’m still young now, when I’m in my thirties, forties, like Mom’s age, what expression will you have? I really can’t imagine!”

Qin Mu looked at him, her eyes somewhat expressing hurt.

”I said you look like this, then you feel I’m looking down on you?”

Mu Yichen questioned.

This cold war between them was only fit for now, it shouldn’t drag on one more night, he really couldn’t bear sleeping back-to-back with her, he couldn’t find the reason to be so cruel to himself.

Qin Mu quietly lifted her eyes to look at him, waiting for his explanation, her eyes unconsciously started to have some mist.

”I just feel sorry for you making yourself this tired, it’s just a novel, why chase it so urgently?”

Mu Yichen softly spoke to her, taking her hand, but holding it in his palm, carefully toying with it, or perhaps it should be said, cherishingly kneading it.

Qin Mu wanted to pull her hand away, but he wouldn’t let her move, Qin Mu thought anyway it’s all covered with eye mask fluid, if he doesn’t mind the mess, then she doesn’t care either.

”You always misunderstand my intentions, Mrs. Mu, I’m really sad!”

Mu Yichen looked at her with that kind of pitiful gaze that gradually made her feel a bit apologetic.

”Whether I misunderstand you or not, you know it in your heart, I don’t!”

Qin Mu said.

Mu Yichen smiled a little: ”Saying it like this just makes me even sadder!”

”Stop nitpicking with me!”

Qin Mu angrily pushed him.

”Weren’t you the one who started it?”

Mu Yichen leaned into the sofa, reminding her.

Qin Mu...

”I can’t be bothered to argue with you!”

She got up and walked towards the bathroom.

Mu Yichen sat back on the sofa and didn’t move again. He quietly indulged in the feeling of being left alone, though his fingertips felt a bit wet. He gently rolled them, and there was a traceable hint of joy at the corner of his lips.

Qin Mu fiddled around in the bathroom for a while and found that her eyes weren’t as swollen, but they still felt uncomfortable. So, she applied some skincare products. When she went out again, Mu Yichen was no longer in the room.

Qin Mu found a loose shirt to wear, then a pair of black jeans. Seeing herself looking clean and spirited in the mirror brightened her mood considerably. It was almost dinner time, so she hurried downstairs.

Mu Yichen was downstairs playing chess with Grandpa. Qin Mu sat beside Grandpa after she went downstairs, watching their game carefully. Was Grandpa going to lose again this time?

Unconsciously, Qin Mu raised her eyes to look at the person across and thought, why can’t you show a bit of kindness towards an elderly man?

But as a spectator of the chess game, she couldn’t say much, so she kept her mouth shut. Mu Yichen also glanced at her, noticed her furrowed brow, and suddenly said, ”Mrs. Mu, how about a bet between the two of us?”

”I don’t gamble!”

Qin Mu looked up at him. He was playing with a few of Grandpa’s chess pieces in his hand, watching as Grandpa made his move.

”Don’t gamble? Or don’t dare to gamble?”

Mu Yichen asked her, then glanced at her again.

Qin Mu...

”Xiaomu, I’m here, you bet with him, I don’t believe you would lose for sure!”

Grandpa encouraged his granddaughter-in-law, but...

Qin Mu thought, Grandpa, it’s not that I’ll lose for sure, but unless Mu Yichen lets you win this time, you’re bound to lose. Mu Yichen proposed this idea with everything in mind, clearly taking advantage. So Qin Mu restrained herself from being provoked.

”Grandpa, since your granddaughter-in-law won’t bet with me, betting with you is just the same.”

Mu Yichen glanced at the old man and said with a smile.

”What do you want to bet on, kid?”

The old man looked at his grandson with a half-smile, as if to say, ”Don’t think I can’t see what you’re up to.”

”If you lose, how about your granddaughter-in-law dressing up as a maid to serve me?”

”You little rascal!”

”Ah!”

”Mu Yichen, Grandpa!”

Qin Mu was originally stunned, but then Grandpa tossed a chess piece at Mu Yichen’s temple. Mu Yichen leaned back in pain on the sofa. Qin Mu didn’t care about anything else and instinctively got up to rush over, pulling away the hand he was using to cover his temple. Seeing his reddened temple, she shouted, ”Grandpa!”

The old man was also dumbfounded. He just tossed it casually, not expecting to throw it so accurately, as if age hadn’t slowed him down.

However, Qin Mu was heartbroken beyond measure, her face immediately changing colors.

Fetching an ice pack from the kitchen, Qin Mu, heart aching for him, gently placed it on the lump on his reddish temple. Mu Yichen said nothing, holding his breath as he watched her careful and almost tearful expression. His heart felt overwhelmingly soft.

”Does it still hurt?”

Qin Mu lowered her head, looking through the gap under her arm into his dark eyes, quietly asking.

”Yes!”

Mu Yichen answered meaningfully, his eyes unblinkingly fixed on her.

”You’re usually so agile, how come you couldn’t dodge just now?”

No one knew when Grandpa left, leaving only the two of them on the sofa. Qin Mu remained kneeling in front of him, gently applying the ice pack to his injury.

”I was thinking about someone just now!”

”Who?”

”A loved one!”

Only then did Qin Mu realize the deep affection in Mu Yichen’s eyes. Her heart pounded forcefully, and the rising anger suddenly dissipated. She murmured helplessly, ”Who is your loved one? Don’t say it’s me. I was so upset this morning, yet you left without looking back.”

Even though she was still complaining, she didn’t blame him at all in her heart.

Seeing no one around, Mu Yichen softly pulled her slender waist onto his lap, ”I worry about you! Don’t you always tell me that staying up is bad for health? Why do you forget when it comes to yourself?”

His voice was so charming that just listening made Qin Mu feel apologetic.

Even though she felt uncomfortable from staying up late herself, she still somehow felt sorry for him.

Qin Mu’s star-like eyes looked at the person in front of her; those deep-set eyes seemed ready long ago for her to walk into. Qin Mu slightly restrained herself, instinctively licking her lips.
