His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2117: Chapter 606: As Long As You Like It_2

Yang Qin was extremely annoyed but could only bury herself in her work, reading over what she couldn’t understand repeatedly, forcing herself to comprehend it thoroughly.

But the work can be dissected again and again until it’s clear, while what about people’s hearts?

She always wanted to truly excel, believing he could see all her difficulties and efforts, but...

Someone she thought understood and cherished her turned out to be merely her wishful thinking.

In the office, Qiao Yi, puzzled by the reason Yang Qin was crying, commented: ”It’s just a phone call, after all, she only wanted to thank Qin Mu, or did Qin Mu complain to you?”

Qiao Yi thought for a moment, Mu Yichen shouldn’t be the type to meddle unless Qin Mu said something.

”Qin Mu hasn’t said anything, it’s just that I can’t tolerate even a bit of sand in my eyes, and you shouldn’t bring up this matter anymore, also don’t meddle in her affairs too much in the future.”

Mu Yichen explained calmly to Qiao Yi, thinking that if helping others causes too much trouble for himself, then he might as well not help at all, especially when the trouble arises from the person being helped.

”Is it really that heartless? But after all, we are colleagues.”

”Or perhaps, I shouldn’t have helped her from the start!”

At that time, feeling guilty towards Qin Mu, he didn’t know why he felt touched after learning about Yang Qin’s family matters, particularly her grandmother’s critical situation, reminding him of Qin Mu’s helplessness when her father passed away. Maybe he wanted to compensate for something, but unable to do so for Qin Mu, foolishly helped an unrelated person.

Now thinking back, Mu Yichen felt perhaps he really helped the wrong person from the start.

How could he impose his wife’s matters onto others? It was completely irrelevant.

But back then, faced with Qin Mu’s resentment, he truly felt helpless, wanting to do something elsewhere to make himself feel a bit better.

Qiao Yi stared at Mu Yichen for a while, then helplessly sighed, ”Since you’ve said it like that, I understand!”

Qiao Yi was also annoyed; he truly had good intentions, believing it to be a win-win situation, but ended up causing such a mess where everyone got hurt.

Yang Qin was hurt, and he was hurt too. From now on, he would absolutely not meddle in introductions.

When he went out, Yang Qin had already gone downstairs for other matters. Qiao Yi looked there, suddenly chuckled, thinking it would’ve been better to just find someone from downstairs to help.

Actually, Zhao Huai had already helped by finding a male colleague to assist from downstairs, but due to Yang Qin, that male colleague couldn’t come up, making Zhao Huai a villain downstairs. However, in Yang Qin’s view, was he considered a good person right now?

Xi Meng said something very true, a woman who has been lonely for a long time is the hardest to help because she’s the easiest to get emotional.

Back in the office, Qiao Yi called Qin Mu: ”Xiaomu, let’s have lunch together; brother has something to discuss with you.”

So midday, he made plans with Qin Mu at a relatively low-key western restaurant. The two casually found a spot to sit, and Qiao Yi generously asked Qin Mu to order.

Before ordering, Qin Mu said as she held the menu: ”This seems to be the first time you’ve treated me to a meal in years.”

”With Yichen around, is there any chance for people like us to treat you to a meal? Order whatever you like, the most expensive ones, today you’re free to enjoy.”

Qiao Yi leaned in his chair, exuding the demeanor of a big brother.

Qin Mu was not shy, but didn’t pick the most expensive items either; she chose what she liked, that’s all.

While she was ordering, Qiao Yi scrutinized her. Today, she wore a simple dress with a caramel coat, her long hair casually falling on her chest, her dark eyes looking at the menu, quiet yet dignified, making people respect her involuntarily.

After ordering, Qin Mu raised her eyes and found Qiao Yi scrutinizing her, so she stared back at him for a moment, then smiled slightly: ”What’s up? Planning to stare a hole into my face?”

”I wouldn’t dare!”

He chuckled, saying few words but letting Qin Mu realize he wasn’t in high spirits.

”But I really want to know what you think of Yang Qin.”

Qiao Yi suddenly leaned forward, hands folded on the table, seriously looking at Qin Mu as he asked.

Qin Mu felt like he was as serious as if sitting at a negotiation table. She had speculated before coming, but seeing Qiao Yi like this, she was somewhat surprised.

”Does my opinion really matter?”

Qin Mu asked him, her sharp gaze fixed on him without dodging.

”Of course! You know, in Yichen’s heart, you’re always in first place.”

Qiao Yi seriously explained to her.

”But, I’m Mu Yichen’s wife, and she’s Mu Yichen’s secretary. Yang Qin and I can completely avoid any contact; we can’t be measured or compared, you know it’s not that I look down on her, but my identity and position don’t allow me to be compared with her.”

One is a wife, the other is a subordinate, work and family, two extremes.

Qiao Yi’s eyes moved, no longer looking at her, but slightly furrowing his brows, taking a slightly deeper breath and muttering, ”But Yichen is now troubling Yang Qin in the office building for you.”

”Really?”

Qin Mu’s sharp eyes remained, though she held some doubt.

”Yes! She called to thank you last night, right? Today, Yichen ordered her not to actively contact you.”

Qiao Yi conveyed to her.

Qin Mu listened, smiling lightly, looking at Qiao Yi and asking, ”Do you think, as a secretary to the boss, is there really a need to make such a call to me?”

”I’m indifferent to such trivial matters, it’s merely gratitude.”

”But she admires Mu Yichen, and she is unwilling.”

Qin Mu responded.

”Whether voluntary or not, as long as politeness is observed, isn’t it just a phone call?”

Qiao Yi couldn’t grasp it, his brows furrowed again.

Qin Mu just smiled faintly, not explaining further.

Many things, many men don’t understand; she was glad her man understood her feelings and managed to prevent such things from happening to her repeatedly.

Once the food arrived, Qin Mu picked up the aroma and felt hungry, grabbing the knife and fork to eat.

Though she saw Qiao Yi had little appetite, she must admit that for once, enjoying a meal with Qiao Yi, she indeed had a good appetite.

Seeing her appetite so good, Qiao Yi couldn’t help but chuckle, thinking perhaps he was worrying unnecessarily?

”Then give me advice, should I side with Yang Qin or Yichen?”

Qiao Yi picked up the knife but didn’t rush to cut the food, instead eyeing Qin Mu for guidance.

Chewing firmly on the steak in her mouth, Qin Mu thought for a while, then smiled subtly at him and said: ”Aren’t you each doing your own job? Personally, I hope you stand with Mu Yichen, and selflessly, I hope you listen to your own heart, I believe there will be an answer.”

Qiao Yi...

”Isn’t that siding with Yichen?”

Qiao Yi asked her with furrowed brows.

”Yes!”

Qin Mu burst into laughter, thinking you indeed aren’t foolish!

”Yichen doesn’t even know I came out to meet you, otherwise who knows how he might punish me.”

”Don’t worry, for this meal you treated, I won’t let him torment you.”

Qin Mu, with a piece of meat on her fork, assured him happily.

Qiao Yi laughed too, thinking Mu Yichen naturally always sided with this woman, her smile was like sunshine.

”Qin Mu? Old Qin? It’s you two alone having a meal from a distance, what a surprise to see you two alone dining?”

Suddenly someone approached and talked, pulling a chair beside them to sit down.
