His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2111: Chapter 603: Suspicions Arise (Part 2)

”All right then, I’ll call you Mingzhu from now on, but you still have to bring your little baby over more often, okay?”

Wang Li said as she looked at the little baby again, her heart full of joy.

”You like kids this much, Sis Li, hurry up and have one with Brother Hang!”

Qin Mingzhu said as she looked outside. Sure enough, Xiang Hang was standing at the door, looking this way, so she couldn’t resist winking at Wang Li.

Wang Li looked at the child and sighed. ”Of course I’m going to have one.”

They were working hard on making a baby, hoping heaven would reward their diligence.

”Why aren’t you watching the store? What are you doing over here?”

”I’m here to get a couple of outfits for Huanyu. You’ve got better taste, so I’m having you personally pick them out for him!”

Qin Mingzhu immediately wrapped an arm around her shoulders and gave her an earnest smile.

Qin Mu thought to herself, So that’s why she was in such a rush to get me over here.

”But with your husband’s current status, is it really appropriate for him to wear clothes from our shop? Aren’t you afraid people will say he’s advertising for us?”

Qin Mu asked her.

”What’s that supposed to mean, are you reluctant to dress us or what? You used to cover all of Dad’s wardrobe and I never heard you say you were worried about anything. How come when it’s my husband suddenly you’re scared?”

Qin Mingzhu thought, You stingy woman, you just don’t want to give them to me, do you? Hmph, I just refuse to pay, I insist on wearing the free ones.

Qin Mu couldn’t withstand her pestering, so she took her to pick out clothes.

”Of course I’d love to have a walking billboard like your husband, but if he feels it’s inconvenient, you can just cut off the tag at the back of his neck later, here, got it?”

”Your cuffs are all covered in letters, okay? Besides, Huanyu is not the type to tiptoe around. It’s just clothes, whoever’s clothes they are, it’s still wearing clothes. He’ll wear our own brand.”

Our own brand?

”Our”?

This woman, seriously.

”Fine! Do you still remember your husband’s size?”

Qin Mu asked while picking out clothes.

Qin Mingzhu thought for a bit, grunted twice, but didn’t say anything. Qin Mu shook her head helplessly and picked out two pieces. ”Mingzhu, you really should pay a bit more attention to your husband, hmm?”

”It’s just a size. Do I absolutely have to remember it?”

”Of course. You shouldn’t just remember his size, you should remember lots and lots of things about him.”

”Then you mean you remember lots and lots of things about my brother-in-law?”

Hearing her talking in that big-sisterly, lecturing tone, Qin Mingzhu couldn’t help but throw the question back at Qin Mu.

”Of course!”

Qin Mu replied very earnestly.

Even though they often bickered and loved living apart, she couldn’t deny that when it came to his likes and dislikes, Qin Mu still knew them all.

”Yeah right, I don’t buy it!”

Qin Mingzhu simply didn’t believe her. After all, if she knew him that well, why would they still fight?

”I don’t expect you to believe me. Your husband wears a lot of black, right? More steady that way.”

Qin Mu picked out two more pieces and handed them to the clerk next to her, then took a black suit.

”Pick out a floral shirt for him too, for him to wear when our whole family goes traveling.”

Qin Mingzhu was very satisfied that Qin Mu had chosen several outfits for her husband, but she still didn’t think it was enough.

”You have a trip planned soon?”

Would Wang Huanyu even have time?

”Uh... not in the near future, but we should be able to go around New Year!”

Qin Mingzhu thought it had been ages since they’d gone traveling. Wang Huanyu had promised to take her out to have some fun. She figured he’d just been too busy lately, but by New Year he’d definitely have time, right?

”Don’t get your hopes up too high. If you ask me, he’ll be even busier around New Year.”

Qin Mu kindly reminded her.

But Qin Mingzhu immediately got upset. ”Hmph! You’re not allowed to say that. You have to pray that he’ll definitely take his baby sister traveling.”

”If he doesn’t go with you, how about next time your brother-in-law and I go on a trip, we bring you along?”

”Really? But... won’t my brother-in-law be unhappy?”

”He will.”

”...”

Qin Mingzhu practically wanted to curse. What kind of sister was this? Obviously here just to make things harder for her.

Later, Qin Mingzhu put all the clothes into the car, then said to Qin Mu, ”Today I’m treating you to wontons.”

”You could also treat me to a decent Western restaurant nearby.”

Qin Mu reminded her, thinking, I treated you to wontons last time, and now you’re treating me to wontons again? Anyone who doesn’t know better would think you’re generous; even I almost did.

”Wontons are great, I just happen to be into them lately. Be good, okay?”

As Qin Mingzhu spoke, her hand reached up to stroke Qin Mu’s face, deliberately acting flirty.

Qin Mu immediately grabbed her hand, and Qin Mingzhu in turn hugged Qin Mu’s arm tightly.

”Wontons are fine, but ask Brother Hang and Sister Li if they want to come along. The four of us can eat together.”

Qin Mu suggested.

”Mm! It’ll cost a bit more, but Sister Li really likes helping me hold the baby, and Brother Hang is your bodyguard, which makes him kind of my bodyguard too. All right then, we’ll all eat together, my treat!”

Qin Mu thought, your bookstore took an investment of several million, and yet treating them to wontons still takes such resolve...

It’s ridiculously cute.

If it were before, Qin Mu could never have imagined that one day Qin Mingzhu, with that sly little fox look of hers, would appear cute in her eyes.

Back then, the scheming Qin Mingzhu just made Qin Mu feel suffocated.

For a long time, they had almost reached the point of mutual destruction.

But now, they could actually walk arm in arm and hug each other.

Over these years, what on earth had they gone through?

At noon the four of them went to eat wontons at the shop diagonally opposite. After a few bites, Wang Li suddenly said, ”Usually around lunchtime Mr. Mu will call or send you a WeChat, won’t he? Today he hasn’t, has he?”

Qin Mu thought about it. That did seem to be the case.

But why hadn’t he sent her a WeChat or called today?

”Something’s up, I’m telling you! Sis, let me remind you, I saw a post online a few days ago that said when a man stops doing the things he used to do for you all the time, that means his heart might have... drifted away.”

While Qin Mingzhu was talking, she even made a little drifting-away gesture with her hand.

”Where could he drift off to? He’s probably just busy with work.”

Qin Mu scoffed disdainfully and explained to Qin Mingzhu.

”Hey! Don’t always be so overconfident! A lot of women lose their marriages precisely because they’re too confident.”

Qin Mingzhu immediately tried to scare her again.

Qin Mu suddenly lost her appetite. She frowned, put down the spoon in her hand, and stared at Qin Mingzhu rather seriously.

Qin Mingzhu immediately lowered her head like a frightened child, but still muttered quietly, ”I was just kindly reminding you.”

”How come I can’t see any kindness in that?”

Qin Mu thought to herself, you’re practically trying to stir up trouble between husband and wife.

”I told you, you’re too confident!”

Qin Mingzhu muttered again, looking a bit pitiful and aggrieved.

”Hey, isn’t that your brother-in-law?”

Qin Mingzhu’s back was facing the door, and Qin Mu was looking toward the entrance when she suddenly said that.

”What?”

Qin Mingzhu tensed up, utterly shocked!

Qin Mu couldn’t help laughing, and Wang Li laughed too, while only Xiang Hang quietly kept eating his wontons.

Seeing Qin Mu and Wang Li laughing, Qin Mingzhu turned to look at the door. Damn, where was her brother-in-law? There were only a few unfamiliar customers.

”Qin Mu, you...”

”What? Not calling me ’Sis’ anymore?”

”You, I—who scares people like that?!”

Knowing she was the one taking favors, Qin Mingzhu’s voice instantly lost its confidence. She’d just been frightened half to death. Every time she badmouthed her brother-in-law, he would show up right behind her. Seriously, so freaky!

”Mr. Mu is probably still working, right? Or busy at some social engagement. Otherwise he wouldn’t not message Qin Mu.”

Wang Li said considerately, then picked up her spoon again, ready to keep eating.

”Hmph! Anyway, I’m insignificant, so I don’t dare say anything more!”

Qin Mingzhu also picked up her spoon, thinking she’d better just eat her wontons.

But Qin Mu couldn’t help glancing at her phone lying to the side, her brows knitting slightly.
