His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2114: Chapter 604: Car Stops in the Wild (Part 2)

”Darling, Grandma asked the kitchen to prepare some sweet soup for you. Would you like some?”

Feng Fanghua asked him softly, with a hint of sadness in her eyes.

”I’ll go see what’s tasty.”

Chengcheng said as he left Qin Mu’s lap and ran off.

”Dad!”

It was only then Qin Mu had a chance to greet Mu Zihao properly, as Mu Zihao sat down next to Feng Fanghua: ”Hm! This boy was particularly happy to see me after school today. I think you don’t need to pick him up anymore.”

”Why is he so happy? It’s just something new, isn’t it? It’s rare for you to pick him up alone.”

Feng Fanghua felt more begrudged but didn’t want to admit that her grandson preferred his grandfather.

”Hahaha! Boys will be boys! Doesn’t Huanhuan like to cling to you more?”

Mu Zihao noticed her feelings and quickly comforted her.

Fortunately, with the two little ones at home, Feng Fanghua balanced out a bit.

Qin Mu watched them, feeling very happy, and often imagined the time when she and Mu Yichen would be old and gray, holding hands while playing, bickering, and perhaps even arguing on the road, but eventually, Mu Yichen would definitely come back to hold her hand.

Thinking about Mu Yichen, Qin Mu also thought of Yang Qin, wondering about her situation, and her heart sank unconsciously.

Mu Yichen returned home almost at dinner time; the old man was still out with his friends, leaving just the six of them at home.

Mu Yichen went upstairs to change, and Qin Mu followed him. After closing the door, she asked, ”How is Yang Qin?”

”I heard she fainted due to a fever and anemia symptoms, nothing serious.”

Mu Yichen answered while undressing and watching her.

Qin Mu nodded after hearing this, ”That’s good!”

She took his jacket instinctively.

Mu Yichen opened the wardrobe to find clothes, and Qin Mu glanced casually, saying, ”Wear the gray one.”

”Since when did you like such deep colors?”

”I like whatever color you wear!”

Qin Mu responded instinctively, her eyes carrying her unique pride.

Mu Yichen didn’t want to bother putting on clothes anymore and started walking toward her with a smile.

”Hurry up, it’s time to eat!”

Qin Mu’s eyes softened immediately, reminding him.

Mu Yichen had to put on his clothes, and Qin Mu leaned aside watching; they often admired each other whilst dressing and undressing, making Qin Mu think they might be a bit narcissistic.

At dinner, the aunt approached the dining room and asked, ”Ma’am, Mr. Wang, the driver, asked me to check if it’s too early for him to pick up the old man.”

Feng Fanghua glanced at Mu Zihao’s watch and said, ”I guess they’re just starting to eat. Let him go after dinner.”

”Yes, if he goes early, Dad will surely get angry, thinking you sent someone to spy on him.”

Mu Zihao spoke softly to Feng Fanghua.

”Sigh! I’m just worried he’ll drink too much. His health isn’t good, but he doesn’t take care of himself.”

Feng Fanghua felt exhausted at the thought and couldn’t help saying, ”I just went to his room and guess what I found in his cabinet? Several bottles of strong liquor, nearly all empty, no wonder his blood pressure can’t come down.”

Qin Mu and Mu Yichen ate quietly, pondering whether Grandpa knew his secret stash had been discovered.

”Tell Uncle Wang that Qin Mu and I will pick Grandpa up later, let him rest after dinner!”

Mu Yichen considered briefly and instructed the aunt, noticing Qin Mu’s fluttering long eyelashes.

Qin Mu looked at him puzzled, but Mu Yichen chuckled lightly, making Qin Mu’s heart skip a beat—he changed his clothes, and now suddenly he’s going out again? Is it really just to pick up Grandpa?

”It’s good that you both are going, Grandpa’s temper will be milder!”

Feng Fanghua thought aloud, feeling that it’s good for them to go out and pick up the old man; in this household, the younger ones are what he cares about.

Qin Mu wondered whether she should tell Grandpa his hidden stash had been found once she saw him?

Even if she didn’t mention it, Feng Fanghua would probably talk to him when he came back.

Feng Fanghua caring for Grandpa is really like taking care of a child.

After seeing their parents leave, Chengcheng and Huanhuan exchanged looks and then raced towards a spot together.

That’s right, the playroom.

Feng Fanghua and Mu Zihao watched, unable to help but smile. Feng Fanghua commented softly, ”These two have been quite restrained recently; I thought they had truly grown up.”

Mu Zihao shook his head at her but laughed, ”These two have been clever since they were young. In the future, they might be just as uncontrollable as their siblings were.”

”That’s perfect; let them worry and understand the troubles we went through back then.”

Feng Fanghua was quite cheerful.

”You!”

Mu Zihao knew Feng Fanghua still bore a grudge, though that pair of siblings were her darlings. She didn’t scold them too harshly, but he didn’t believe she wouldn’t be heartbroken if their son and daughter-in-law were worried sick over the children.

——

On the road, Mu Yichen drove, and Qin Mu turned on the music in the passenger seat. It was a popular soundtrack with a traditional vibe, making Qin Mu ponder as she looked at the man in front of her.

She thought that Mu Yichen was such a charmer; were he in ancient times, he’d definitely be a true rogue in gentleman’s clothing, if not a wealthy merchant, then likely an officer, general, or noble, surrounded by women...

If women in ancient times were truly so uninhibited, Qin Mu thought, he’d probably be besieged by girls with leisure, unable to achieve anything, just choosing wives and concubines.

No, how could he choose wives and concubines? He already has one!

Even if he traveled back to ancient times, he could only have her.

Thinking this far, Qin Mu fell into a daze.

Mu Yichen, momentarily distracted, realized he was being stared at.

Qin Mu sat sideways in the seat, staring at him unblinkingly.

Mu Yichen’s body stiffened, and he glanced at her, prompting Qin Mu to feign casualness by turning to look out the window, feeling guilty.

After all, her gaze had been detected.

The car turned onto a small road and slowly came to a stop.

Qin Mu stiffened, looking at the pitch-black surroundings, couldn’t help but murmur, ”Why are we stopping here?”
