Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 438: Chapter 380: Global Panic

This message comes from a secretly taken video backstage at an intelligent computing medical conference. It’s a short video.

Initially, not many people noticed this video, until someone with idle time quietly finished watching it, edited a very attention-grabbing short clip, and only then attracted many people to come and watch the complete video.

In the edited short video, there’s only an elderly white man with black hair and a white beard, speaking with a heavy expression: ”The Ancestor released this information, very likely with another purpose in mind. You can boldly imagine, he has already become invincible worldwide, so what might his purpose be?”

Exactly.

The Ancestor is invincible worldwide.

Even millions of tons of nuclear bombs can’t do anything to him.

So, what message did the Ancestor release, and what is his purpose?

Netizens, driven by curiosity, found the original video.

From the angle of the video, it seems like a makeup artist secretly filmed it.

Because the person being filmed, George Smoot, is conversing with another person whose face isn’t visible, but half of their body can be seen.

Meanwhile, George Smoot is being made up by another white female makeup artist, seemingly preparing to give some speech.

The other person asks, ”George, what were you called away to do just now? Our conference has been delayed by two hours because of your absence.”

George Smoot casually replies, ”A big shot called me, John Mather, and some other top astrophysicists and cosmologists over to ask about some matters.”

The other person queries, ”Hmm? What matter requires you and John Mather to be questioned together?”

George Smoot doesn’t answer immediately, but instead glances to his sides, saying, ”What I’m about to say, don’t reveal it.”

”Okay, Mr. Smoot.”

”We won’t spill anything outside.”

The voices of two female makeup artists can be heard.

Having received their assurances, George Smoot then reveals a grave expression, ”The Ancestor sent word, saying that a gamma-ray burst will visit the solar system in the near future, destroying Earth’s atmosphere and exterminating all life on the surface.”

The other person is shocked, ”A gamma-ray burst will really visit the solar system and wipe out life on the surface?”

George Smoot shrugs, ”I think it’s not true. At least, none of our detection stations have detected any information about a gamma-ray burst visiting the solar system.”

The other person wonders aloud, ”Then why would the Ancestor release such a message?”

George Smoot comments with a heavy expression, ”The Ancestor released this message, very likely with another purpose in mind. You can boldly imagine, he has already become invincible worldwide, so what might his purpose be?”

The video ends here, seemingly leaving an endless riddle.

However, those who watch this complete video are suddenly in an uproar.

”Oh my God!”

”Is a gamma-ray burst really going to strike the solar system?”

”Pray, Lord, protect our Earth from such a terrible natural disaster.”

Some are so terrified that they’re praying devoutly.

Yet, the majority have a different reaction; rather, they’re somewhat horrified.

”Did you hear what Professor Smoot just said?”

”Professor Smoot said that a gamma-ray burst has no chance of hitting the solar system. So, what’s that big shot’s agenda by releasing this smokescreen?”

”Who’s Professor Smoot? You don’t believe the big shot’s warning about the gamma-ray burst, but you trust Smoot when he says it won’t hit?”

”Brother, do you not even know who Professor Smoot is? He’s an academician of our Old Ugly’s Academy, a world-leading astrophysicist, and a cosmologist. He’s won numerous prestigious awards including the Einstein Medal Award, Oster Prize, Gruber Cosmology Prize, and the International Astronomical Union’s Daniel Chalonge Medal. If that doesn’t show how awesome Professor Smoot is, then surely you know the Nobel Physics Prize, right? He won that back in 2006.”

”Wow, Professor Smoot is that awesome?”

”So, based on this, he’s an absolute authority on gamma-ray burst research?”

”Absolutely, which is why, when Professor Smoot says gamma-ray bursts won’t hit the solar system, it’s almost 100% certain.”

”That’s strange. Just like Professor Smoot said, that big shot is invincible on Earth, so why would he spread rumors about a gamma-ray burst nearing the solar system?”

”Who knows? It must be with ill intent; otherwise, why spread rumors?”

At this point, no one is taking the news of a gamma-ray burst nearing the solar system seriously anymore. They keep speculating about the Ancestor’s ulterior motives for spreading such an alarming rumor.

And with every guess, more and more people are scared out of their wits.

Why?

Why else!

If an invincible man on the globe spreads a rumor, there must be a major purpose!

The purpose of an ordinary person is usually nothing more than money or ruining someone else’s reputation.

Clearly, this rumor from the Ancestor isn’t about tarnishing anyone’s name or possibly the reputation of world nations.

After all, according to Earth’s current technological capabilities, no nation has the ability to address a gamma-ray burst.

So, when the time comes, who will Earth’s people turn to for salvation?

Of course, the only one left would be the Ancestor, right?

Would he save your life without a reason?

At this point, his real motives emerge.

Money?

No, no, if the Ancestor desired money, it would be too easy.

If it’s not about money, then there could be only one purpose left!

Consequently, most people, just like the important figure Old Ugly George, pondered that dreadful possibility!

”My Fack!?”

”Could it be that the purpose of that person is...”

”Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Could it really be this terrifying?”

”It’s over! That person wants to rule the Earth, we ordinary humans simply have no power to stop it!”

”What should we do? What should we do?”

”Do we really have to just sit and await our doom, to be enslaved by that person?”

Countless netizens were truly terrified by this possibility.

Some of the more timid ones were already pale-faced, resembling those who worry about unlikely fears.

The ancestor’s deterrent force was too strong.

Just how strong was it?

Within just ten minutes of this news spreading, people all over the world had already started to panic!

...

Old Ugly, California.

In a suburban area, Old John had just returned near home from his morning jog.

Suddenly, he noticed his neighbor, Little Chris, digging the dirt in the yard.

Old John looked over in confusion and greeted him, ”Little Chris, what are you doing?”

Little Chris looked up with a face full of terror and said, ”The ancestor wants to rule the Earth, I don’t want to be enslaved picking cotton, so I’m trying to dig a very deep cellar, prepare enough water and food, and hide inside.”

If an average person saw this behavior, they would probably laugh.

Or rather, if it were for another reason, Old John would have thought Little Chris’s action was funny.

However, upon hearing ”ancestor ruling the Earth,” he was immediately so frightened that every hair on his body stood on end, ”What? That murderous Great Demon King wants to rule the Earth? No way, I must dig a cellar and hide too!”

...

Xiaohan, Seoul.

Even though it was clearly late at night.

Logically speaking, there shouldn’t have been many people on the streets.

And indeed, most streets were devoid of people.

However, any street with a convenience store was already crowded with a dense mass of people.

These people were scrambling to squeeze into the convenience store.

Some, unable to squeeze in, were shouting angrily outside.

”Hurry up, you bastard in front!”

”Damn it, the ancestor wants to rule the Earth, I don’t want to be ruled, need to prepare some supplies to hide, hurry up, let me grab some supplies too!”

”The ancestor is from Huaxia, we in Xiaohan are right next to Huaxia, if the ancestor wants to rule the Earth, the first to be conquered would definitely be the surrounding small countries, our Xiaohan will definitely be the first target!”

”Why does the ancestor have to do this? Why isn’t he from our Little Han Race?”

”Stop crying, hurry up and get water and food!”

...

Europe, Norway.

This place is within the Arctic Circle, and currently, it’s the period of the Midnight Sun.

Here, the sun hardly sets, creating a ”land of the midnight sun” phenomenon.

However, the residents here now acted as if ”the sky is falling.”

Countless people scrambled to drive towards large supermarkets or gas stations.

The reason to go to gas stations wasn’t to refuel.

But because each gas station had a small supermarket.

A middle-aged man looked at his wife and children, his expression grave, ”I know a lot of people are grabbing supplies now, so it won’t work if we all go to one supermarket alone, later each of you takes a car, one person goes to one supermarket, make sure to grab supplies!”

”Okay, Dad!”

”Got it, dear.”

The four of them got into four cars and drove off in four directions with a whoosh.

Even to grab supplies, four people had to move separately, you can imagine how much panic this news caused in Norway.

...

The scenes in Old Ugly, Xiaohan, Norway, etc., were just the tip of the iceberg on a global scale.

In fact, at this moment, nearly all supermarkets, department stores, or farmers markets around the world were already filled with dense crowds.

”Leave me some flour!”

”Is there any medicine left? What? You’re all out here too?”

”Oh my God! Why, after running to so many places, is everything sold out? Water, food, and medicine are all gone!”

”Is the sky really falling? Am I doomed to be enslaved?”

”I don’t want to be enslaved!”

”Please, have mercy, ancestor, please don’t enslave us!”

Countless people were waving money, loudly begging to buy supplies, but, as everyone thought the same, despite the fact that prices of supplies and medicine skyrocketed overnight, countless people were faced with a ”bread is hard to come by” situation.

No one expected that the ancestor had hardly done anything, but just had someone spread a word discreetly, and it was interpreted like this, causing global panic. It’s imaginable how intense the world’s fear of him is!
