Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 432: Chapter 374: The Old Man Finally Lost It

A colossal ”Megatron” stood proudly in the courtyard.

Its majestic and domineering presence was truly moving.

From the moment Gu Wei stepped out of the car, he couldn’t tear his eyes away.

He gazed intently at the ”Megatron Transformer” before him, genuinely feeling a sense of shock.

If seen elsewhere, he might have dismissed it as a large model.

However, witnessing it here with Lu Li, he had every reason to believe it was more than just a model.

Gu Wei stared in awe and questioned, ”Mr. Lu, is this the large mecha you developed?”

Lu Li was preparing to test the mecha’s functions.

Hearing the question, he responded with a simple, ”Interested in taking a look inside?”

What?

A real large mecha?

Though he had anticipated it, hearing the confirmation still shocked Gu Wei.

In general, small private planes are typically about six meters in length.

Regional airliners like the Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 are about thirty to forty meters long.

Medium to large airliners such as the Boeing 777, Boeing 747, or Airbus A380 can reach lengths of sixty to seventy-five meters.

And this mecha before him?

By estimation, it appeared as tall as a large airliner!

Gu Wei recalled the ”No Beef Number One,” which stood only three meters tall, but could launch the ”World Destroyer” missile with nuclear-like devastation.

This mecha, at fifty to sixty meters high, wouldn’t its power be even more terrifying?

Feeling a mix of awe and shock, he quickly replied, ”Sure, thank you, Mr. Lu.”

As soon as he finished speaking, an entrance opened at the right foot of the mecha, revealing something resembling an elevator.

Lu Li pointed inside and said, ”Come on, let’s go in.”

”Alright.” Gu Wei responded, following behind as he asked, ”How do you control this mecha? I didn’t see you use any handheld controls.”

Lu Li stepped into the ”elevator space” and casually said, ”Oh, it’s controlled by a super AI, no need for handheld controllers.”

This large mecha was generally controlled by artificial intelligence, but it hadn’t been ”networked” yet, so Lu Li was currently using energy control.

”Super AI?” Gu Wei asked curiously, ”Like the ’Sunday’ in the supercollider base?”

As they spoke, the ”elevator doors” swiftly closed.

Soon, lifted by something resembling a disc, they quickly moved upward.

Although the speed was fast, it was very stable, making the movement unnoticeable.

”More advanced than ’Sunday’.”

Lu Li replied.

The ”elevator doors opened again” before them.

He pointed inside what looked like a combat command center and said, ”We’re here, go ahead and step down.”

While following Lu Li down, Gu Wei observed the interior cabin.

It appeared quite ”simple,” with only two positions resembling pilot and co-pilot seats and a display screen.

Gu Wei pondered aloud, ”The facilities seem simple, how powerful can it be?”

Lu Li sat in the left main pilot’s seat and pointed beside him, ”Put on the holographic helmet. I’ll take you for a ride in space, and we’ll test the power. Then you’ll know, won’t you?”

”Holographic helmet?”

Gu Wei moved to the co-pilot seat and indeed found something resembling a motorcycle helmet that could envelop the whole head.

Lu Li did not wear the holographic helmet. ”Yes, this holographic helmet allows you to have a 720-degree view of the surroundings of the mecha from inside the cabin. The mech’s detection range can reach about a radius of ten thousand kilometers. Even with enough mini reconnaissance aircraft, observing the entire Earth wouldn’t be a problem. Of course, I haven’t equipped this mech with many mini reconnaissance aircraft, just three or four. Actually, with just these three or four mini reconnaissance aircraft, once they reach a certain altitude, they can cover the entire Earth like satellites. Also, the holographic helmet has its own oxygen conversion function, allowing us to enter cosmic space without worrying about breathing. The cabin itself has this feature as well, but wearing the helmet is a bit safer. It’s an independent system, so it won’t fail to convert oxygen if the mecha gets damaged.”

By this time, Gu Wei had already put on the holographic helmet.

Sure enough, he could feel the refreshingly pure air entering his nostrils.

However, he didn’t have time to marvel at the oxygen conversion function.

Because what he saw was even more awe-inspiring.

At this moment, through the holographic helmet’s perspective, Gu Wei could observe everything within a radius of ten thousand kilometers.

These scenes felt as though they were embedded in his consciousness, rather than being viewed with naked eyes.

Lu Li advised, ”If you want a more detailed look at a specific area, just imagine it in your mind. The holographic helmet will receive your brainwaves and immediately execute the command, zooming in on a particular area for more detailed observation.”

”Let me give it a try.”

Gu Wei attempted to use brainwaves to see the scene in Beijing more than a thousand kilometers away in a straight line.

In the next moment, a miraculous scene unfolded.

Gu Wei actually saw the entire view of Beijing all at once.

Even on a particular street, he could see clearly what the pedestrians were doing!

He took a slight breath and said, ”Mr. Lu, how is this long-distance observation achieved?”

Lu Li replied calmly, ”It comes with a more advanced satellite function, without the need to launch into space. It’s a function that’s centuries ahead of current technology. I can’t explain it to you all at once; we’re heading to space now, so get ready.”

Gu Wei hastily tried to find a seatbelt or something similar.

This was experience he had from lifting off in a spaceship.

If an astronaut doesn’t buckle up during the spaceship’s ascent, they will encounter great danger.

Unfortunately, Gu Wei didn’t find a seatbelt, only sensing a slight shake of the inner cabin before seeing through the holographic view that they were shooting towards the sky at an astonishing speed.

During the first ten minutes, this speed wasn’t very fast.

It was just slightly faster than a typical rocket.

However, once they entered space, the speed of the mecha suddenly increased, and in the blink of an eye, it shot out an unknown distance.

Gu Wei had an illusion; it seemed that with the mecha’s flight, the Moon was getting closer than it was earlier.

Seeing this, he was greatly surprised, ”Mr. Lu, isn’t the speed of your mecha’s flight too fast? What’s its speed per second?”

Lu Li said, ”Initially on Earth, the speed wasn’t fast. After entering high altitude, it can reach the third cosmic speed, and in space, it’s three thousand kilometers per second.”

The reason the flight speed within Earth’s space is slow is because the mecha is relatively large; flying at three thousand kilometers per second would generate massive shockwaves, causing significant destruction around it.

The cosmic space is different, being almost a vacuum, where flying at three thousand kilometers per second is practically unaffected.

Gu Wei took a deep breath, ”Three thousand kilometers? Isn’t that about one percent of the speed of light? How much energy is needed to drive this mecha?”

Lu Li continued controlling the mecha towards the Moon, ”The energy needed is huge. Regular energy sources simply cannot suffice, so I installed a matter-antimatter energy converter on the mecha. Hmm, this device is somewhat similar to a particle collider but more advanced. It can continuously absorb particles from the outside, collide them to form antimatter, and then annihilate with matter, generating massive energy to supply the mecha. In short, this mecha is essentially a pseudo-perpetual motion machine.”

Gu Wei’s eyes widened in disbelief at such an impressive drive method for the mecha!

”Then...” Gu Wei’s voice was slightly trembling, ”Since it can fly at a high speed of three thousand kilometers per second, is the weapons system even more formidable?”

In his mind, he believed this mecha could launch a super missile or some energy cannon capable of instantly destroying a city or even an area the size of a province.

Unexpectedly, Lu Li sighed, ”I didn’t install any particularly devastating weapons, just a ’cannon’ capable of releasing photon energy.”

Gu Wei was dumbfounded, ”Huh? It can only release photon energy? Doesn’t that mean it has no power? Or even if it does, the power is limited?”

As particles of light, photons theoretically have no energy limit; however, when light is considered as ”particles,” they are very small and lack the power to destroy the cosmos. The basic components of the human body are molecular atoms, which are very large relative to photons. A photon in comparison to an atom is like a comet to the solar system, as comets can easily traverse the space of the solar system, photons can easily pass through atomic space.

Thus, generally, photons passing through the human body cause no harm.

Because Gu Wei understood this somewhat, he knew the photon energy cannon Lu Li mentioned might not have destructive power.

Then...

Hmm, Gu Wei was once again taken aback.

Lu Li smiled, ”This is not an ordinary photon energy cannon; it can release high-energy photon energy rays similar to a gamma-ray burst. If it hits a certain area, the atmosphere there will be destroyed, and the DNA of organisms exposed to it will be damaged, causing them to die in an extremely short time.”

”What!?” Gu Wei was shocked, ”High-energy photon energy rays similar to a gamma-ray burst?”

While human technology can create gamma rays, creating high-energy photon rays with the intensity of a gamma-ray burst is beyond current technological capabilities.

Now that Gu Wei heard this news, he was understandably shocked.

Because it meant that if this mecha’s ”high-energy photon energy” had a wide enough range, or if Lu Li had enough similar mechas, they could completely destroy the atmosphere in a very short time, leaving the entire Earth ”unshielded” and exposed to various cosmic rays.

This is undoubtedly more terrifying than any nuclear weapon!

Nuclear weapons can allow a person to die relatively peacefully.

After all, they blow you up in an instant, causing no pain.

But destroying the atmosphere does what?

It would only make humans die in endless pain!

Gu Wei was so frightened that he shivered all over, stammeringly asking, ”Mr... Mr. Lu, what is the purpose of creating such a terrifying weapon?”

Lu Li looked towards the approaching Moon, sighed softly, and said, ”Earth... is about to be destroyed.”

With these words, Gu Wei’s face turned deathly pale.

He thought Lu Li meant that this mecha was created to destroy Earth!

If someone else were to say this, Gu Wei would scoff, not believing it at all.

But the person saying this was Lu Li, who had been proven by Ugly Country’s aerospace monitoring to at least have the capability of surface destruction!

As a result, Gu Wei was terrified, so scared that even his breathing became difficult.

He thought to himself, it’s over, this old master has finally decided to destroy Earth!
