Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 415: Chapter 360: Gamma-Ray Burst

The ancestors have the ability to destroy stars?

Upon guessing this result, everyone appeared very shocked.

George and a group of big shots looked at each other, doubting their own judgment.

In the crowd, a white man in his forties, a big shot, slightly inhaled and said, ”When millions of tons of nuclear bombs couldn’t kill him before, I was puzzled as to how such a creature could survive. Now I think I understand.”

Another red-haired woman, around thirty-seven or thirty-eight years old, nodded in agreement, ”His flight speed alone is nearly 0.06 times the speed of light, and crucially, we still don’t know if that’s his limit. Even at 0.06 times the speed of light, the power he possesses likely reaches the terrifying level of being able to destroy planets.”

Upon hearing this, George’s heart trembled.

Although he had just guessed that the ancestors have star-destroying abilities, hearing it from someone else seemed to further validate his thoughts.

Is there a peerless man on Earth with the ability to destroy stars?

Doesn’t this mean that no matter how the technology of the United States develops, they can’t surpass this mountain?

With this thought, George, who had enjoyed more than ten days of comfort, felt bitter again.

Unwilling to give up, he turned his head and asked, ”Are you sure he has the power to destroy planets?”

There was a military big shot in the crowd.

He stood out and analyzed, ”Sir, this is just speculation. In reality, no one knows whether he has the power to destroy planets.”

After hearing this, George was unsure if he was speaking to everyone or muttering to himself, his voice ethereal, ”I hope not.”

The remaining big shots could only hope for the same while bitterly smiling.

They all actually understood in their hearts that if the ancestors truly have the ability to destroy stars, once he goes mad, the entire Earth would be utterly doomed!

Even if he doesn’t destroy Earth.

If one day he wants to dominate the world.

I’m afraid the eight billion people worldwide would be completely enslaved!

For a moment, these big shots felt very oppressed, so repressed they could hardly breathe.

Suddenly, George thought of something, ”Are the parents of the ancestors still alive?”

Another elderly man in his seventies or eighties was shocked, his tone somewhat fearful, ”George, are you planning to use the parents of the ancestors to threaten him? Don’t do that, haven’t you seen the consequences of the Morgan Clan?”

”Indeed, sir.”

”We can’t afford to offend the ancestors.”

”Please don’t drag us all into ruin along with you!”

Everyone was scared, all urging George to abandon this idea.

George, looking speechless, said, ”I’m not senile, how could I not know the fate of the Morgan Clan? Rest assured, I won’t threaten the ancestors in any way.”

The elderly big shot speaking earlier was puzzled, ”Then why did you ask such a question?”

Others also looked at George in confusion.

George slowly analyzed, ”With the power the ancestors have displayed, no one knows if he can destroy a planet, but Earth’s technology and weapons certainly pose no threat to him, and he also possesses terrifying destructive power. Why do you think such a peerless being hasn’t done world-destroying acts like the villains in superhero movies?”

Yeah!

In movies, once villains have overwhelming power, even if they don’t destroy the world, they generally attempt to enslave humanity.

Why hasn’t the ancestor done this?

Everyone actually had a hint of an answer in their hearts.

George articulated the answer everyone thought of.

He said meaningfully, ”Because there are things in this world he cares about, so he doesn’t want to make enemies everywhere, and even more so, he doesn’t want to destroy the whole world. But, have you ever thought, if one day there are no things he cares about in this world, how terrifying would he become?”

Upon hearing this, the complexion of the entire room changed!

Everyone could imagine how terrifying things would become if the things the ancestors cared about no longer existed in this world!

George leisurely said, ”Therefore, to keep the ancestors as peaceful as they are now and prevent them from committing destructive acts, we need to ensure that the things the ancestors care about last as long as possible, like his family and friends. We should let them live longer, and more comfortably. Of course, the lifespan of ordinary humans is always limited, for the sake of future generations, we should create some things the ancestors care about, like letting him have more wives, more children, and the children having more descendants. This way, the ancestors won’t completely lose their humanity. Do you understand what I mean?”

These real big shots on the scene couldn’t possibly not understand what George meant by his words.

”Right!”

”We should ensure the things the ancestors care about exist for longer.”

”Just like Mr. George said, when necessary, we can create more things he cares about.”

”Mr. George, you should give the ancestors a call later, to express our goodwill.”

A group of big shots voiced their stances.

If someone saw these big shots expressing such attitudes ten or twenty days ago, they would certainly be shocked.

After all, the Morgan Clan dared to threaten the ancestors at that time.

As a result, in less than twenty days, not to mention the already destroyed Morgan Clan, even George and these real old big shots wanted to curry favor with the ancestors.

Or rather, even if they couldn’t win favor, they hoped the ancestors’ family could live more comfortably.

This forms a stark contrast to the Morgan Clan of ten or twenty days ago.

There’s no other way.

Now everyone knows the ancestors may have the power to destroy stars.

If the other side and the things they care about don’t last longer, what happens if Earth is destroyed?

Having made their decision, everyone was ready to act immediately.

At this moment, George asked the question he had asked earlier, ”Do you think the ancestors truly have the powerful ability to destroy planets?”

No one could answer this question.

Everyone looked at the screen showing Lu Li, filled with similar curiosity.

...

Similar events are unfolding among global high-level officials.

Russia.

”In the future, for important Huaxia holidays, send some valuable gifts to our ancestors’ families and friends on my behalf.”

”Yes, sir.”

...

Xiaohan.

”Warn everyone, ancestors can be casually recognized, but never mess with the ancestors’ people. Moreover, if any family or friend of the ancestors, or even someone slightly related to them, comes to Xiaohan, ensure they are protected throughout their entire visit. Understand?”

”Understood!”

...

The United Kingdom.

”Count how many relatives and friends the ancestors have, and grant them all the Knight’s Medal.”

”Uh, granting the Knight’s Medal to all of them? Isn’t that too many people?”

”When the day comes that the ancestors want to destroy the world, will you still think the Knight’s Medal is important?”

”That’s true.”

”Moreover, if any family or friend of the ancestors comes to visit, not only should they be secretly protected, but everything should be free of charge!”

...

Not only these countries have developed response policies.

Almost every country that became aware of the situation is engaging in similar gestures of goodwill.

Upon seeing the ancestors return to Earth at nearly 0.06 times the speed of light, the global high-level officials realized one thing.

That the mythical tales of Huaxia about becoming immortal were true.

Because the ancestors really returned after ascending to the heavens.

And they demonstrated a power that invoked immense awe.

Therefore, to appease the ancestors’ emotions, countries worldwide extended their utmost goodwill.

Of course, although they showed the greatest goodwill, each country’s leadership held a huge question in their hearts: Do the ancestors truly possess planet-busting capabilities?

...

Lu Li, now immensely powerful, can naturally sense the global reactions of all nations at this moment.

This made him chuckle wryly.

He truly has no intention of destroying the world.

Actually, as long as no one provokes him.

Nothing terrifying would ever occur.

However, he can understand the mindset and actions of world leaders.

Indeed, if his family and friends no longer existed one day, he might live too long and develop a world-weary attitude, potentially leading to some horrific actions.

”Anyway, I currently have no such thoughts...”

Lu Li was partially lost in thought but suddenly put on a serious look, ”I found the information I’m looking for!”

He carefully studied it, then his entire face revealed a shocked expression.

Lu Li never thought that the ”brightness” he previously simulated to appear thirty-four days later turned out to be a gamma-ray burst!

What is a gamma-ray burst?

A gamma-ray burst is the most powerful known eruption phenomenon in the cosmos.

Theoretically, they occur when a massive star collapses and explodes after exhausting its fuel, or when two adjacent dense celestial bodies merge.

For instance, a black hole or a neutron star.

Gamma-ray bursts can be as short as a thousandth of a second or last several hours, releasing massive energy in a short time.

In comparison to the sun, they release an energy equivalent to the sun’s total light output over a trillion years within just minutes.

The energy of a single photon emitted is typically hundreds of thousands of times that of typical sunlight.

Physicists have calculated that powerful gamma-ray bursts can annihilate life in a certain range within the cosmos.

According to scientists’ speculation, a gamma-ray burst visited Earth five hundred million years ago, causing a mass extinction of life.

Lu Li never imagined that the ”brightness” he simulated turned out to be a gamma-ray burst.

He suspended himself a kilometer high in the sky, suddenly furrowing his brows tightly, ”This is big trouble. The power of the gamma-ray burst is really too great. Although my simulation predicts it will only exist on Earth for eight seconds, according to scientific data, the energy released by a gamma-ray burst in one second is equivalent to 0.15 of the sun. In just eight seconds, the energy released by the gamma-ray burst would be nearly equivalent to the entire energy of the sun.”

He has the planet-busting ability, but that doesn’t mean he can withstand the power of a gamma-ray burst!

What perplexes Lu Li the most is that typically, gamma-ray bursts can only last a few hours at most. Based on speeds similar to light, even if it lasted ten hours, it would travel a maximum of ten light-hours. Currently, the closest star to the sun, Proxima Centauri, is 4.22 light-years away. In theory, even if Proxima Centauri went supernova, it could not project a gamma-ray burst into the solar system.

So, where exactly did the gamma-ray burst that I simulated come from?

As far as Lu Li knows, there are no other stars near the solar system.

”Could it be... my simulation was wrong?”

Lu Li finds this possibility very unlikely.

”A single simulation might be wrong, but I performed a simulation once on Mercury and several times on Earth, so it can’t be wrong.”

Therefore, he is genuinely curious about where this gamma-ray burst was birthed and why it would shoot into the solar system.
