Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 429: Chapter 372: Immortality

In the bedroom, rose petals were scattered like fallen red leaves.

Lu Li lay on the bed, glanced at Liu Kexin, who had gradually fallen asleep, and revealed a slight smile.

Reaching his current state, theoretically speaking, no matter what he does, he shouldn’t feel fatigue, nor need to rely on sleep to recover.

Yet at this moment, he felt somewhat exhausted.

Because a significant amount of energy had been expended.

”I probably used up ten percent of my energy, and considering the ten percent used today to sustain myself, that’s a total of twenty percent.”

Lu Li instinctively took a deep breath, ”The fortunate thing is, I’ve already ensured Kexin is pregnant.”

In fact, doing certain things doesn’t consume much energy.

The reason he used so much energy was entirely because he wanted Liu Kexin to conceive ”cross-species.”

Indeed, evolving to this extent, he had created a ”reproductive isolation” with ordinary humans.

It couldn’t be strictly called reproductive isolation.

To be precise, his body had hidden the genes for reproduction.

In a certain sense, reproduction is another way of life’s continuation, which can also be considered a form of immortality.

But this kind of immortality is fundamentally different from individual immortality.

It transfers genetic information to the next individual, ensuring the species’ continuity.

Individual immortality doesn’t work that way; it continuously ”updates” genetic information to achieve immortality.

Lu Li’s completion of the fifth deep evolution made him almost as eternal as the heavens.

As long as there’s no external interference or energy depletion, he’s essentially immortal and indestructible.

Naturally, his ”gene pool” no longer required reproduction, so this gene was hidden.

Therefore, Lu Li reproducing offspring was actually a kind of ”degeneration,” requiring more energy expenditure.

”As I guessed before my fifth deep evolution, once reaching this level, unless I expend considerable energy, I won’t be able to reproduce; otherwise, it’s equivalent to ’sterilization’.”

Lu Li couldn’t help but sigh in his heart: ”Tonight was truly exhausting.”

After all, he used up ten percent of his energy.

How could he not feel exhausted?

”But...”

Lu Li’s lips curved into a grin as he looked out the window at the sky, ”I can quickly replenish the consumed energy.”

In the next moment, a flash of light appeared outside the window.

A radiance as dazzling as the sun instantaneously passed through the wall and hovered in the bedroom.

When this figure halted, it manifested in an identical appearance, body shape, and attire to Lu Li, yet it was a pure energy body.

Indeed, this figure was the ”Yang God No. 1” that Lu Li had previously released to gather energy.

As soon as ”Yang God No. 1” returned, it immediately pounced on Lu Li and completely fused into his body.

Instantly, Lu Li shivered, and his energy was almost fully restored.

”The energy is full, but I need to deploy the Yang God again to gather energy in the Cosmic Space.”

Over Lu Li’s head, ”Qi” surged, as the recently re-integrated ”Yang God No. 1” re-emerged, then exited through the wall.

This time, he was relatively ”stingy,” allocating only five percent of his energy.

Well, with such a ”capacity” for energy gathering, it’s sufficient.

”It’s a pity ’Yang God No. 2’ hasn’t yet obtained specific information.”

Lu Li shook his head helplessly.

There’s no way around it; although the ”Yang God’s” speed is akin to the speed of light, with the solar system spanning one light-year, ”Yang God No. 2” had just ventured out not even a full day; it’s impossible to achieve any detection.

Lu Li didn’t concern himself further with ”Yang God No. 2.”

His gaze fell upon Liu Kexin, who was sleeping beside him.

”Previously, I always speculated whether I could allow others to achieve immortality; now I can experiment.”

Lu Li had previously scanned Liu Kexin’s body, roughly understanding its structure.

Without hesitation, he began simulating and predicting.

He wanted to estimate approximately how long she might live.

Images of cell aging and formation unfolded in his mind.

Liu Kexin’s life was also displayed within these images.

Lu Li ”watched” her from youthful beauty to the appearance of wrinkles on her face, and then gradually the years slipped away, turning her into an elderly woman, finally ”spent,” stepping into the abyss of death.

”If unimpeded by external forces, based on her previous body’s cellular genetic analysis, my prediction is that she can live up to ninety-three years old.”

Lu Li shook his head helplessly.

This conclusion was drawn assuming no external influences.

If she ate something wrong, or certain external viruses impacted her, it might shorten Liu Kexin’s lifespan.

Furthermore, ninety-three years, though considered a long life for ordinary people, Lu Li possessed an eternal life span, and if Liu Kexin indeed passed away at ninety-three, she wouldn’t accompany him for long.

”I need to find a way to make her live longer...”

Lu Li was preparing to release energy into Liu Kexin’s body for nurturing.

Suddenly, he thought of something, ”I just predicted how long she might live before conceiving, but now that she’s pregnant, could it affect her lifespan?”

Lu Li had no choice but to scan Liu Kexin’s body again to document the structure.

Moments later, being fully aware, he started a new round of predictions.

Before long, Lu Li arrived at an astonishing conclusion.

The feedback from the new round of predictions was that Liu Kexin now had a lifespan of three hundred and twenty-six years!

”Hmm?” Lu Li immediately realized what had happened, ”Seems I have truly turned into ’Tang Monk’s flesh’.”

Indeed, within Liu Kexin’s body, there were certain elements of Lu Li.

Although these elements had specific reproductive functions, they were not entirely so.
