Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 406: Chapter 354: Abundant Energy

The sun is a yellow dwarf star.

Compared to the myriad of red giants, blue giants, and other supermassive stars in the endless starry sky, it might seem insignificant as an individual entity.

For instance, certain red giants can contain fifteen million suns, or even red supergiants can contain a billion suns.

However, to humanity, the sun is an incredibly colossal existence.

At this moment, Lu Li is approximately one million kilometers away from the sun.

This is the location of the ”corona layer.”

The terrifying high temperature continuously radiates, causing him to rapidly consume energy.

The temperature at the solar surface is only five to six thousand degrees.

But the temperature at the corona layer, one million kilometers away, reaches up to a staggering one million degrees.

This is a very interesting phenomenon called the coronal heating problem.

As to why this occurs, scientists have not yet figured it out.

Additionally, at the location of the corona layer, not only is it filled with a high temperature of one million degrees, but the pressure is also extremely formidable.

Lu Li can clearly sense that the pressure here is probably equivalent to one million times the Earth’s atmospheric pressure, comparable to the pressure generated by a nuclear weapon’s explosion center.

Being this close to the sun, there’s another issue to be aware of.

That is, the sun’s gravity is three hundred thousand times that of Earth’s gravity.

He needs to constantly fly at high speed to avoid being drawn into it.

”Just being a mere one million kilometers away, I feel an immense terror surrounding me. If I were truly sucked in, I fear I would be obliterated instantly.”

Lu Li finally realized how vast the ”energy” possessed by a star is, leaving an astonishing impact.

While flying at a speed of over two hundred kilometers per second, he continues to absorb energy.

In fact, a speed this fast is not necessary to escape the sun’s gravity.

For example, the Parker Solar Probe flies at a speed of one hundred sixty-three kilometers per second and successfully passed through the corona layer in the end.

At his current controlled flying speed of over two hundred kilometers per second, Lu Li is more than sufficient.

Despite the massive energy consumption required to resist the million-degree high temperature, terrifying pressure, and gravity, the energy here is exceptionally abundant.

Lu Li can sense that as soon as he exhausts a large amount of energy, it’s quickly replenished.

”It’s not just replenishing; because the light, heat, radiation, and other energies here are so abundant, I’m actually able to accumulate a considerable amount.”

He can analyze that even though his evolution speed in ”volume brushing” has been extremely rapid, the absorbed energy still cannot be entirely consumed in time.

Yes, his current energy transformation is more like ”volume brushing.”

For every additional one percent of energy transformation, his stored energy and physical strength roughly double his overall power.

”Not only is it impossible to consume fully, but the consumption ratio is very small, about one percent.”

Lu Li carefully estimated, ”At this energy absorption rate, I should be able to reach fifty-six percent energy transformation progress in five minutes.”

This suggests that reaching fifty-seven percent energy transformation would take about ten minutes.

To achieve fifty-eight percent energy transformation would take around twenty minutes, fifty-nine percent around forty minutes, and sixty percent approximately one hour and twenty minutes.

This is the time required to absorb energy, not the time required to complete the evolution.

In fact, each one percent increase in energy transformation progress takes roughly one day.

This is what Lu Li deduced from previous energy transformation progress and does not necessarily mean it will be the same later on.

”I don’t know how much energy transformation progress I can complete this time.”

While continuing to resist the high temperature, pressure, and maintain flight to break free from the sun’s gravity, Lu Li pondered on his evolution situation.

Unknowingly, five minutes passed.

Because the energy here was tremendously abundant.

Lu Li finally accumulated enough energy for fifty-six percent energy transformation progress.

”It’s almost done, I need to hold on a little longer and absorb more energy to stockpile, so I can achieve more energy transformation.”

Lu Li greedily absorbed energy, trying to sprint to a higher point!

...

Earth, Su City.

In Vox’s General Manager’s office.

Liu Kexin, as usual in her professional attire, was not busy handling business affairs, but sitting there lost in thought.

Ever since ten days ago when Lu Li announced his ancestry identity, he vanished without a trace.

She felt a bit annoyed by Lu Li’s once again ”leaving without saying goodbye,” yet couldn’t help but worry, fearing that something might have happened to Lu Li.

Suddenly, the desk phone rang with a ”ring ring” sound.

Liu Kexin withdrew her worrying thoughts, picked up the receiver, and held it to her ear, ”Liu Kexin, what’s the matter?”

The voice on the other end was from Manager Sun of the Customer Relationship Management Department, ”President Liu, I have something to report.”

Liu Kexin said, ”Go ahead.”

Manager Sun’s tone was somewhat helpless, ”We have a major client’s contract expiring today. I had previously discussed it with their President Chen Yao and agreed to renew it today, but when I went there with people, President Chen suddenly changed his mind. I’m pondering if perhaps our competitors persuaded him, so I wanted your guidance.”

Liu Kexin’s expression turned serious, ”Alright, I understand. I’ll call President Chen right away.”

After hanging up, she directly dialed President Chen’s personal mobile phone, not the company line.

She had met President Chen a few times.

Due to the Liu Group, the other party was eager to curry favor and actively exchanged personal contact information with her, often sending courteous greetings regularly.

One could say the other party did everything by the book.

Unexpectedly, what caught Liu Kexin off guard was that President Chen, who had always been very keen to seek her favor, didn’t answer the phone this time.

She immediately felt something unusual and squinted her eyes.

Liu Kexin thought for a moment and dialed President Chen’s office phone again.

This time, it was picked up quickly.

However, it wasn’t President Chen who answered the phone.

The voice on the line was from a young female, ”Hello, President Liu, I am Chen Yao’s assistant, Gu Fang.”

Liu Kexin directly asked, ”President Chen is not in the company?”

The young female said, ”Oh, he went out on some business, can I relay a message to him for you?”

Liu Kexin said, ”It’s nothing important. Can you have him call me when he comes back?”

The young woman replied, ”Alright, if there’s nothing else, President Liu, I’ll hang up now.”

Saying this, she was about to hang up the call.

At this point, Liu Kexin was still uncertain.

Unexpectedly, just before the call was completely disconnected, President Chen’s voice came through, ”President Liu, how could...”

Click, the phone was hung up.

Liu Kexin understood.

It seemed almost certain that President Chen had been compromised by a competitor.

That’s what she thought at the time.

She even had someone investigate which competitor it might be.

The answer she finally got left her somewhat surprised.

Because there was no contract between President Chen and any competitor!

Liu Kexin was momentarily bewildered, truly not knowing what had happened to President Chen.

It wasn’t until later that evening, when another major client informed her that they would not be renewing their contract, that she figured out the situation.

It turned out to have nothing to do with any competitor.

It was actually because others had discovered the intricate connections between Vox and Lu Li, and were too scared to continue their contracts.

Liu Kexin, being very perceptive, immediately realized why this was the case.

The reason was simple: these major clients feared inadvertently offending Vox and bringing disaster upon themselves.

After all, the ferocity of their ancestors was a globally known fact.

Liu Kexin was at a loss for words, thinking to herself that no matter what, Lu Li wouldn’t indiscriminately wipe out someone’s entire family, so what exactly were these people afraid of?

...

Several hours quickly passed.

Lu Li’s energy conversion progress remained at fifty-five percent, not advancing to fifty-six percent.

Suddenly, he felt that the energy he had absorbed within was nearly saturated.

It seemed that no matter how much more he absorbed, the total amount couldn’t increase.

At this moment, a wave of drowsiness swept over him.

Lu Li forced himself to stay awake, as he was near the sun.

If he truly fell asleep, he would inevitably be drawn into it.

And then, the sun’s terrifying power would completely obliterate him.

Despite how tired he was, he suddenly had an epiphany, ”I finally understand why during previous deep evolutions, I immediately fell asleep, but during this fifth deep evolution, there hasn’t been that situation.”

The main reason is that this time, at the start of the deep evolution, I didn’t absorb enough energy in one go to complete the deep evolution.

”In other words, deep evolution doesn’t necessarily require falling into sleep. If I don’t accumulate enough energy all at once, I can just absorb a little energy each day and complete some evolution. However, the previous deep evolutions didn’t have such a large leap, so I never noticed.”

Lu Li found it both amusing and exasperating.

He previously thought deep evolution must involve falling asleep, but it turned out not to be the case at all.

For deep evolution to lead to sleep, a necessary condition must be met.

That is, you need to accumulate enough energy in your body to complete this deep evolution.

Only this way does one fall asleep.

If sufficient energy is not accumulated, this situation won’t occur.

But the evolution progress will not lag, and will be completed through days and months of accumulation.

”So then, what is the difference between deep evolution that involves sleep and one that doesn’t?”

Lu Li found this very interesting.

As he flew rapidly out of the corona, heading towards Mercury, he pondered the situation.

The amount of energy he had absorbed this time, according to previous estimates, should allow his body to reach about sixty percent energy conversion.

However, at the initial stage, his energy conversion progress was only fifty percent.

The additional five percent was gradually completed in the ten days or so of flying over.

Now that he had absorbed enough energy, Lu Li secretly wondered, ”Will it shorten the time for my deep evolution?”

He felt it should be so, otherwise, there would be no point in sleeping.

As to whether it actually will, he wouldn’t know for certain until the evolution was complete.

That day should arrive soon, as he had already absorbed enough energy to complete the fifth deep evolution.

...

Twenty-four hours later.

Lu Li finally reached Mercury, the closest point to the sun.

He was already very weary and had pushed himself for twenty-four hours.

Now, as soon as he reached the atmosphere of Mercury, he dove heavily towards the surface of this terrestrial planet like a streak of light.

Even so, Lu Li continued to use his energy to protect the camera and lens that a reporter had lent him.

Finally, he crashed heavily into Mercury’s surface uncontrollably.

Boom!

A massive explosion erupted from the surface of Mercury.

Lu Li was embedded deep into the ground, yet he sustained no damage.

At that moment, his body was incredibly strong, capable of withstanding nuclear explosions without harm.

How could he possibly be damaged by descending at over five hundred kilometers per second?

Embedded deep within the ground, Lu Li finally sighed with relief.

He continued to protect the camera and lens as he gradually closed his eyes, quietly thinking, ”I can finally get a good sleep.”

Lu Li was well aware that when he awoke this time, his power would reach an extraordinarily formidable level.

Based on past deep evolution experiences, he shouldn’t have to sleep long before completing this deep evolution!
