Counterfeit Hero

As for the audience, what they are most interested in is the four young Mech Knights sent this time by the Sect Mutual Aid Alliance.

There isn’t a single Mecha Commander, let alone a War God. The once-dominant sects in the alliance clearly made up their minds not to be swayed by the threats and temptations of the Feiyang people. The sect masters don’t even show up, and among the six War Gods, four came but stood by and watched. What is their real purpose in sending these young mech knights?

Although they are all young talents in the civilian mecha fighting world with extraordinary talent, in terms of strength and experience, they are still somewhat distant compared to those long-famous commanders. Can these individuals really stir up any waves among the more than one hundred Mecha Commanders and four War Gods?! Is the Sect Mutual Aid Alliance showing weakness and conceding, or are they so arrogant it’s beyond reason?!

Amidst various doubts, the match begins.

With an electronic sound, the first thirty-two mechas silently clashed into a chaotic battle. For a moment, the entire main hall fell completely silent, with only the constant clanging of metal as the mechas collided.

This isn’t some fancy mainstream world Gold Cup or World Cup. If it weren’t for Cheng Zhixuan considering the demeanor of the Fei Alliance, there might not even be an opening ceremony or opening words. In this world where the strong prey on the weak, such competitions have always been about profit. It has been this way for millennia.

Even if the current competition is cloaked in the guise of the Fei Alliance, there’s no difference. In war times, the soldiers who reach here to rule have nothing to do with the civilization of the mainstream human society.

Their arrival is not for the happiness of Mars’ citizens, nor to serve the people here. Everyone knows what they want. Under the cold muzzle of guns, many things, including human hearts and relationships, are cold. Compared to the subtle tacit balance during the sect ruling era, now there’s three parts ambition and six parts recklessness.

The previous order has been broken, and now one battle will determine the fate. Whether it was second-rate, third-rate, or even ninth-rate sects before, as long as they can win, they can seize the upper hand in this distribution of interest and reach the top in one step. The temptation is irresistible for both the sect groups that have condensed over hundreds of years and individuals lost in this chaotic world. Therefore, no matter the cost, it is considered worth it.

When the mech knights make a move, they go all out.

In the third minute of the match, the Director of Haixing Mecha Hall, also the only participant from this small mecha hall, was defeated under his opponent’s fierce attack, and his mecha was completely destroyed. This marked the first victory and defeat in the main match. Afterward, news of victories and defeats from the other six regions came in continuously.

In the fifth minute, an Astai combat mecha had its cockpit kicked to pieces by the opponent, and the mech warrior inside died on the spot.

Since it is allowed by the rules, the winning mech knight faced no penalties. Amid the knife-like stares of the deceased mech warrior’s sect, he returned to the rest area. The two sects are mortal enemies, and since they drew each other in lots, he certainly won’t be polite. Besides, he believes that if his dead opponent had the chance, they would also strike ruthlessly.

The death of this mech knight did not cast a shadow over the competition. The match continued steadily. For the Mars people, such situations have been seen too many times. Besides, life-and-death struggles are in the minority. Most mech knights won’t go too far unless they are sworn enemies.

Hitting needlessly harshly brings no benefits other than making the next opponent vigilant and strike first.

On the central virtual screen, a sky-blue Vicious Mecha and a dark green Iron Curtain Mecha were engaged in a fierce battle. This showdown between Nakagawa Daiki piloting the Iron Curtain and Farrell, the Director and Level 1 Mecha Commander of Abyss Eagle Mecha Hall, piloting the Vicious, was the highlight of the first round, capturing everyone’s attention.

At this moment, hundreds of thousands of spectators were holding their breath and watching the battle between the two mechas intently. A Level 3 War God and a Level 1 Mecha Commander, both well-renowned figures, their battle could only be described as breathtaking.

Nakagawa Daiki is a core figure of the Tai Sect, known for his speed, strength, and fierce moves. Farrell is equally renowned for his style on Mars. The two had never fought in history, and this time, Cheng Zhixuan deliberately arranged for them to face off in the first round, intending to bring the tournament to a climax right from the start, catching Carolina’s attention.

Cheng Zhixuan’s design was successful. This duel exceeded everyone’s expectations. When the audience saw both names, their gasps and screams almost blew off the main hall’s roof.

The battle between Nakagawa Daiki and Farrell drove everyone crazy from the start. The techniques of civilian mecha close combat were interpreted textbook-style by these two renowned mech knights. The two mechas were like two interlocking gears spinning at high speed, with classic techniques emerging endlessly, and each of their signature moves was unreservedly displayed in succession.

As the fast-paced battle between both sides continued, the match quickly attracted the attention of Carolina and a group of Feiyang Officers. Especially Carolina, who originally was watching the tournament with a casual attitude, began to focus on the match upon noticing that the 107 Armored Division Commander Isaac’s blank, transfixed gaze was fixed on the fighting arena.

Even though she had prejudices against these exiles, even though she wasn’t precisely a mecha master, Carolina could discern the quality of mecha technology. After quietly observing for a few minutes, she quickly became astonished by the battle before her. If such mecha warriors could undergo training and master certain long-range combat techniques and wartime rules, then........

Carolina turned her gaze toward Box No. 9.

If the battle between Nakagawa Daiki and Farrell on the arena is the focal point that attracts the most attention, then the No. 9 and No. 10 boxes, where the Sect Mutual Aid Alliance resides, as the most flamboyant team and idol group on Mars, are another focus no less than the match.

However, there’s a different scene here.

”Three Qs with a 3.” Fatty sat in the box, hugging a bottle of yogurt, sipping with a loud slurp while sorting the poker cards in his hand with great interest. On his face were three small paper notes. Sitting around the tea table in front of him, Level 3 War Gods Hagrove and Wagstaff, also holding poker cards, had two paper notes stuck to their faces, deep in thought. The other two Second-level War Gods, Weii Jianshan and Meng Xun, one closed his eyes to rest, while the other smiled and stood beside with a teacup, constantly giving advice.

Everyone who saw this scene was dumbfounded. This group of guys actually ran here to play poker! Could it be that in their eyes, the match between Nakagawa Daiki and Farrell isn’t even worth a glance?!

Or is it that, in their eyes, this tournament is just a joking farce?!

This is definitely a provocation, a naked provocation to the Feiyang people!

On one not-so-good camera position at the top of the stands, a local television station’s live photographer on Mars aimed the split shot of his camera at Box No. 9. Almost immediately, this captured scene by the sharp photographer appeared on all televisions at Mars Free Port.

Also appearing in the frame were a deeply frowning Carolina, a livid Cheng Zhixuan, a cold Kubo, a calm and confident Kirburn, and a smiling Zhang Pengcheng.

The first round ends, and the second round begins.
