Counterfeit Hero

On the third day, the training ground downstairs finally quieted down.

No midnight emergency gatherings, nor the roar of Mecha or soldiers’ slogans.

The news of Fatty single-handedly fighting twelve Special Soldiers quickly spread throughout the entire base. Feiyang soldiers discussed in shock, unable to imagine that this seemingly innocent, chubby Major General of Leray was so formidable. Those he brought down were not twelve children, but twelve elite Special Soldiers who could kill enemies bare-handed on the battlefield as easily as drinking water and eating!

Now, these elites of the Special Forces Camp are lying in the base hospital. Broken hands, broken legs, faces smashed beyond recognition... their severe injuries are frightening.

Many Feiyang Soldiers who couldn’t believe the news tried to sneak into the hospital to have a look. After coming out and facing their companions’ inquiries, they simply nodded solemnly. The information was confirmative, and despite the officers’ strict ban, the soldiers initially received only vague and general descriptions of the conflict. However, as more details began to emerge, the shock experienced by the Feiyang soldiers deepened layer by layer.

Various rumors rapidly spread, especially under mysterious circumstances, growing more exaggerated. Even if the soldiers rationally filtered out most of the exaggerations, an undeniable fact remained—the elite Special Soldiers lying in the hospital couldn’t have broken their own limbs, right?! To beat them all up under collective attack, how formidable must Fatty be?!

The dramatic contrast between Fatty’s astonishing might and his harmless appearance only intensified the shock for everyone.

This innocent, chubby-faced guy is simply a freak!

In dormitories, training grounds, cafeterias, recreational rooms, and bars... the Special Forces Camp’s blunder became the hottest topic.

The military has a traditional reverence and submission to absolute strength. The measure of ability is the sole standard of respect. Without ability, a warrior cannot earn trust from comrades and will often face neglect and bullying in the military. As a commander, one will be disregarded and doubted on decisions made.

The military doesn’t sympathize with the weak, but absolutely respects the strong.

Fatty is a Leray person. His rank did not earn him identity recognition, but his commanding demeanor facing the collective provocation of Feiyang soldiers made him a prominent figure in their eyes.

Some stubborn soldiers continued to resent and belittle him, yet such resentment stood invalid against facts. More soldiers have begun to respect this powerful Leray Major General. Some ordinary soldiers who disapproved of the Special Forces Camp’s superiority have made Fatty their idol. Be it from principle or Fatty’s strength, they have ample reason to do so.

After Hamilton’s commemoration, Leray’s warriors were reevaluated, as was the country that stood alone against the Western Alliance for four years.

Compared to ordinary Feiyang soldiers, officers were even more shaken.

The reason wasn’t the Leray Major General’s discordant arrogance but the information they received from Fei Alliance Military Department channels.

The truth of Sammon betraying the Chuckna Fleet was gradually surfacing. Carolina’s Front Army leadership couldn’t fully conceal everything. The actions of the B15 Fleet brought shame to the 107 Armored Division forces. As the specific details of the Chuckna battle and Fei Alliance’s special feature came forth, they realized it was a miraculous victory occurring right beside them.

Behind this victory stands, alters, notably the Leray Fatty!

Including Margaret and many others, they couldn’t believe that the ingenious tactics showcased in the special feature came from that chubby guy. The remarkable strategies of the battle fascinated those professional commanders. They reminisced amid doubt until someone collected all available public information about this Leray hero and gathered the complete processes of several battles led by him during the Mars Sect War. Only then did they fully believe.

Subsequently, when seeing Fatty, numerous amazed and admiring eyes followed him. They finally understood the maxim that appearances can be deceiving. That chubby guy waddling idly around the base was the perfect embodiment of this saying!

A mechanic soldier by origin, possessing the abilities of a Special Soldier, having military talent, a disciple of Russell, captured the Gazalin Emperor, helped Douglas win the Mezrich Battle, confounded Mars, emerged victorious in the Sect War, and assisted Chuckna people in turning defeat into victory, becoming a life-and-death friend of Zhang Pengcheng... with the details in hand, Margaret’s curiosity about Fatty grew ever stronger.

How did a mere mechanic soldier achieve such earth-shattering military accomplishments? Compared to him, even those hailed as the most brilliant generation of young commanders in Feiyang, including herself, paled in comparison. In turbulent times heroes emerge, Fatty’s story perfectly exemplified that saying.
