Counterfeit Hero

The battle was drawing to a close. The remaining ships of Fleet A2 had no ability to resist further; they began scattering in retreat. However, only less than five percent of the ships managed to successfully disengage from the battle and escape from the pursuit of Chuckna warships. Most of the escaping ships were destroyers and cruisers, which had quick acceleration, agile maneuverability, and weren’t prioritized for attack.

In the starry sky, the Suss battleships scattered all around, while the Chuckna warships grouped in formations of four to surround and intercept. The atmosphere inside the brightly lit portholes of the warships differed greatly between the two sides; one was filled with clouds of gloom and sorrow, the other with joyous cheers echoing around.

To achieve such a battle result from an extremely dire situation was beyond everyone’s expectations.

It must be said, this was a glorious victory. If the Luu Zecheng Formation successfully deployed during the battle is considered, the definition of this victory should elevate to greatness.

Not every Chuckna officer knew who commanded this battle. During the fight, all orders were transmitted through the command system by ship captains and the Combat Department. As the battle wound down, and combat staff began to analyze and enthusiastically discuss the battle, rumors about the Commander ran rampant.

Just as everyone was cursing the actions of the Feiyang Fleet and rejoicing over the dramatic turn caused by the appearance of the bandit army Commander, they suddenly saw over ten nearly broken-down warships of unknown models, speeding out from the Smoke Lake Nebula.

People pressed their faces against the portholes, eyes wide open—who are these guys?

Were they extremely unfortunate pirates, a bankrupt commerce group’s fleet, or interstellar beggars piloting warships in search of alms? From which scrap recycling yard did these ships drive out directly? How many hardships did they endure to fly into this remote star domain? In the next second, would these guys fall apart right before their eyes?

A string of doubts just emerged in the minds of the Chuckna people when they saw the signal from this fleet.

The Chuckna signalman slammed into the central control computer in disbelief... Oh God, these broken warships are the bandit army fleet!

Everyone gaped, eyes vacant.

”They attacked the Suss Transport Fleet and helped us win the battle?”

Many Chuckna female soldiers’ eyes were already wet.

Though the 1201 Fleet had just undergone a life-and-death disaster, losing over forty percent of its ships, and every warship was scarred. However, compared to these ragged, emaciated-looking bandit army warships, Chuckna warships were practically wealthy landlords feasting on white buns stuffed with marinated meat every day!

With such a mindset, whatever the bandit army did next seemed reasonable in the eyes of the Chuckna people.

These wolf-like, tiger-like warships swiftly joined the encirclement of the remaining Suss fleet, intercepting those that surrendered or lost propulsion. Equipped with two or three Space Mechas, these guys dared to smash the mouth of anyone’s cabin door... It seemed they were truly afraid of poverty.

”Thank you... Thank you very much.” A broken armed merchant ship of the bandit army sent rapid signals to the neighboring Chuckna warship while deploying four Mechas to fiercely hammer at the hatch of a Suss cruiser.

”So pitiful.” Chuckna female soldiers, eyes red, wished to pat the shoulders of these bandits and tell them to eat slowly; no one was going to steal from them.

Nevertheless, these words were never uttered. It wasn’t because they couldn’t pat the shoulders of those beggars across space, but rather because these guys moved too fast... Even if Chuckna people wanted to snatch, there was no way!

In sector D24, a Suss cruiser was about to escape the chase of the Chuckna warship. Just when the Suss people were about to cheer and leap in excitement, and the Chuckna people dejectedly tossed their hats, suddenly, a bandit army cruiser and an armed merchant ship slanted out of nowhere, joining the hunt and interception.

No one paid attention to these two broken warships. Chuckna people lamented the bandit army warships for choosing the wrong route and angle, while Suss people sneered at these two tattered warships dreaming beyond their reach.

However, after dozens of seconds, everyone on both the chasing and escaping warships were left with only expressions of surprise and speechlessness.

Outside the porthole on the left side of the warship, two bandit army warships ran faster and faster like two beggars burning their last lifeforce. First, they overtook the Chuckna warship, then closed in left and right on the Suss warship.

The rusty hull, wobbling thrusters, and tattered external armors like rags... The frantic Suss people could even hear the creaking sounds these decrepit warships emitted, despite being unable to transmit sound in space. Though they cursed every second for the two warships to fall apart, the more broken they were, the closer they got.

The Chuckna people were stunned, watching the broken ships approach the Suss warship, murmuring questions to God.

When the beautiful swan flapping its wings was chased down by two toads and dragged to the ground, beaten half-dead, the Suss ship captain surrendered.

He gave up. He couldn’t imagine what kind of selfless, determined spirit these two broken warships had, to catch up with his fast cruiser. No matter how he thought, he couldn’t comprehend.
