Counterfeit Hero

The farce at No.15 Airport quietly drew to a close.

Tens of thousands of Chuckna officers and soldiers watched as the unconscious Sammon was carried away. They also saw Carolina and a group of Feiyang officers leave with stern faces. What astonished them the most was seeing that Leray Fatty Major General trailing behind Carolina.

Along the way, this fellow eagerly shook hands and greeted a group of Feiyang officers, as if the person who was involved in the fight had nothing to do with him. Most of the Feiyang officers shook hands with him with stiff faces. When encountering a couple of angry ones who disregarded decorum, the fat man also smiled innocently, putting on a magnanimous appearance.

No matter how sharp the contradictions were, this was not the time to turn hostile against each other.

Both the Feiyang people and the Chuckna people understood this well. Sammon, who was beaten half to death, was sent back to the Feiyang fleet before his injuries could heal.

Zhang Pengcheng didn’t mention it, nor did Carolina.

Both sides issued a gag order; whatever needed to be done, was done. Joint military exercises, combined command simulations, defense plan developments, official and resource exchanges, orders transmitted up and down... On the surface, everything seemed to have returned to normal.

However, everyone knew that beneath this calm, there were undercurrents surging.

The day after Zhang Pengcheng returned to the base, he reported the entire cause and course of the incident to the Chuckna Military Department.

This report naturally triggered a shock in the Chuckna Military Department. The President of Chuckna even personally stepped in to meet with the Feiyang Ambassador for negotiations. Both military departments formed coordination teams of senior generals for face-to-face discussions.

The final results of the negotiations were unknown. However, Chuckna officers and soldiers could tell from Admiral Zhang Pengcheng’s satisfied expression after receiving news from the military department that this time, the Feiyang Republic must have paid a steep price!

What everyone didn’t know was that this time, aside from Chuckna, Admiral Bernadotte of Leray was also very satisfied. As the highest-ranking third party in the battle, he merely made his rounds in the United Command and the Chuckna President’s office following the fat man’s report, placed a call to the Feiyang President, and he too benefited!

Of course, these ”benefits” were enough for Bernadotte and Flavio to laugh all day in the office.

Since an agreement was reached, both the Feiyang Republic and the Chuckna Republic naturally kept the truth of the matter under wraps and rushed to proclaim victory in the battle before the Western Alliance.

From the start of the battle to its conclusion, all the video data was carefully selected and compiled into a special report.

When this special report, featuring a seriously damaged fleet that toyed with the enemy with a Luu Zecheng Formation and annihilated half of an enemy fleet, circulated throughout the human world, it can only be imagined what a sensation it would cause.

The Fei Alliance was invigorated, and discussions on the streets were all about this miraculous victory, while in the Western Alliance, especially the Suss Empire, faces were lost. Their released video claiming that the Feiyang Republic Fleet sold out the Chuckna Fleet was mocked as a cover-up in the joint statement by Feiyang and Chuckna. Emperor O’Brady III of the Suss Empire kicked over a table in the Imperial Palace at this time.

The Chuckna officers and soldiers finally breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone understood that this was all thanks to that Major General Tian of Leray. Even days later, Chuckna officers and soldiers were still talking about that spit from Leray Fatty Major General. When they spoke of it passionately, they were all animated, as if it was the most spectacular and satisfying scene they’d seen in their lifetime.

For this Leray Major General without a single soldier, all the Chuckna officers and soldiers were left with nothing but admiration. When encountering him, they smiled and saluted. In addition, as Fatty himself had the black hair and black eyes of the Chuckna people, the entire Twelfth Group Fleet had already regarded Fatty as one of their own deep in their hearts.

And the always arrogant and conceited Feiyang people seemed to have become much more silent from top to bottom. Besides training, it was maintaining ships and conducting routine patrols off the port. They rarely left the base. Occasionally, a few Feiyang officers seen in bars outside the base quietly kept their distance from the crowd, forming a stark contrast to the laughing and cheering Chuckna people.

The two armies, one moving, the other still, presented a stark contrast. When their gazes met, anyone could sense the tension crackling between them. However, with repeated orders from the high command, both parties intentionally maintained distance and restraint.

War continued unceasingly without a pause.

In the Central Combat Zone, the Naga Federation and the Ryan Republic, two neighboring arch-enemies, were going all out. Meanwhile, military operations by the Feiyang Republic in the Karsdon Star River and by the Chuckna Republic in the Resk Star System were gradually strengthening.

Successive battles occurred, with victory reports piling up; however, the list of fallen soldiers on the announcement board kept growing denser.

Meanwhile, in Mars Free Port, which had just ended the Sect War, social order had returned to normal.

In this world banished by mainstream human society, the law of the jungle not only brought bloody conflicts but also a resilient vitality. Despite the near-crazy destruction by the Northern Alliance, once everything settled down, the Mars populace emerged from everywhere, like bamboo shoots after a rain, starting new lives on the ruins.
