Counterfeit Hero

Moments later, a line of ten identical black [Readington] luxury Flying Cars slowly drove into the exhibition center.

Though luxurious, such Flying Cars are not rare on Mars. Even if ten of them form a convoy, it doesn’t warrant much surprise from others.

Odel was puzzling, when suddenly, he noticed the emblem on the car.

The emblem depicted an eagle diving with wings spread, in the center was the word ”bandit” and two crossing Curved Blades, and at the bottom was a skull. The entire design was wide at the top, narrow at the bottom, round at the top, and sharp at the bottom, resembling an ancient shield.

Bandit army!

Amid the unrepressed clamor of the astonished crowd, the convoy stopped, and the doors of the front six Flying Cars opened, and six carefree young men stepped out. As soon as these individuals appeared, the entire crowd was instantly ablaze.

They are neither War Gods nor Sect Masters of the sects within the Sect Mutual Aid Alliance. But they are the idols of all the youngsters on this planet.

Weiseler and Baz from the Tai Sect.

Long Tai from the Mingxin Sect.

Mombarton and infantry from the Black Dragon Sect.

Cosmo from the Phantom Stream.

Among them, the highest-ranking was Weiseler, a Level 3 Mecha Commander. Back in the Tai Sect Puluo Branch, he ranked third in terms of level among the disciples, following Monroe and the older Nakagawa Yui. In terms of actual strength, however, he was stronger than Nakagawa Yui, second only to Monroe.

Next was Cosmo, the Young Sect Master of Phantom Stream, a once-in-multiple-decades genius of Phantom Stream. His ability to advance to Level 1 Mecha Knight despite the absence of core techniques in Phantom Stream speaks volumes of his prowess.

Baz, Long Tai, infantry, and Mombarton were all Second-level Mecha Knights. On this planet, although there are many Mecha Knights, those who become Mecha Knights before turning eighteen are exceedingly rare. Most promising mech warriors become Mecha Knights after surpassing the age of twenty-three. Many mech warriors with average aptitude even reach forty or fifty years old. That’s disparity.

These individuals are the most promising talents to become the new generation of War Gods before turning forty. Therefore, even though their ranks aren’t high, they enjoy great fame on Mars. After all, their ranks aren’t high only when compared to mech warriors of these top sects. To ordinary people, being a Mechanical Warrior is already quite remarkable, let alone becoming a Second-level Mecha Knight at eighteen. Among the planet’s five billion population, there are only about two thousand Mecha Knights.

One in twenty thousand, definitely the elite among elites.

After Weiseler and the others got out of the cars, people from the back four cars also stepped out.

At this moment, the entire crowd went silent.

Second-level War God Weii Jianshan of New Tai Sect, Level 3 War God Hagrove of Mingxin Sect, Level 3 Mecha War God Wagstaff of Thousand Army Sect, Second-level Mecha War God Meng Xun of Mountain Breaker Sect.

The appearance of these four individuals left everyone in a dizzy state.

These figures who stand at the pinnacle of mech warriors are hard to meet under normal circumstances, yet here they are now, appearing at once.

This is the bandit army! Along with Sect Master Sade of Mingxin Sect and Sect Master Bridge Man of Thousand Army Sect, who are also Level 3 War Gods, the bandit army comprises six of Mars Free Port’s Ten Great Mecha War Gods!

With these four entering, other sects likely don’t stand a chance. Besides Nakagawa Daiki of Old Tai Sect and Kirburn of Absolute Kill Stream, who else can defeat them?

The crowd began to stir as Weiseler, Weii Jianshan, and others walked towards the registration area.

Odel licked his parched lips and swiftly picked up his cup to take a drink and moisten his throat, only to find that his cup was empty. He nudged his two dumbfounded companions beside him, stutteringly looking at Weii Jianshan who approached him, asking: ”Mr. Weii... are you... here to register for the competition?”

”No, we’re accompanying them.” Weii Jianshan smiled and shook his head, pointing at Weiseler and the others.

”Oh.” Odel hurriedly operated the registration program on the touch screen on the desk while asking Weiseler and others: ”Then, please confirm your sect identity here. Each sect is allowed to register four people.”

”Oh?!” Weiseler turned his head to Cosmo and others saying, ”It really is only four people allowed to register, what shall we do?”

Odel paused and then asked, ”Do you have many people?”

”There are six of us, it seems we’re two people over.” Baz, who was standing in front of Odel and looking at the registration form, shrugged.

”But...” Odel said: ”You’re from different sects!”

”Who said so?” Baz glared at Odel, then turned to the other guys saying: ”Shall we go with the usual rule?”

Everyone nodded.

”Scissors... Rock... Paper!”

”Scissors... Rock... Paper!”

”Wait... Mombarton, you cheated! It doesn’t count.”

”Alright, let’s redo, Scissors......

The idol group of mech warriors decided who would participate in the competition right in front of everyone by playing rock-paper-scissors, leaving the audience in complete disbelief. It’s known that other sects have been fighting fiercely for a chance to compete. Aren’t these guys from different sects? Do they need to do that? Even a cold person like Weiseler is enthusiastically guessing?

Soon, the winners and losers were decided.

Among the six people, Weiseler and Mombarton lost.

Unexpectedly, among them, those who lost the rock-paper-scissors seemed elated, while the winners appeared crestfallen.

Watching Baz turn his head, Odel looked at him with a questioning glance.

”New Tai Sect? Black Dragon Sect? Phantom Stream?”

Baz gritted his teeth: ”Caihua Sect!”
