Counterfeit Hero

The bandit army controls the materials entering and leaving Mars like a faucet, hiding stealthily on one side, eating in and selling out, which is extremely pleasant. The items the bandit army wants to sell usually have very few permits issued, and are in high demand. As for those they wish to buy, Old Klaus has countless traders under him who can suppress prices to the lowest point within minutes.

Of course, Old Klaus usually does not employ such a golden-finger-esque trading method.

Firstly, the old fox feels this doesn’t showcase his capabilities, and secondly, as that Leray fatty says, to catch fish, one naturally needs to raise fish first; it’s best to avoid killing the chicken to get the egg.

In fact, Old Klaus feels indifferent whether to do it less frequently or not at all. The Bandit Army Fleet deals in a cost-free business, buying low and selling high to earn money. They profit from twenty percent of the Free World’s permit proceeds, plus gains and trade cuts from the Freedom Channel and Freedom Dock, all behind the scenes for Old Klaus. Now, he makes astronomical amounts of money for the bandit army daily.

Old Klaus lights a cigarette, squints at the information on the computer.

The price of several metals needed by the bandit army has nearly reached the buying position, and eighty percent of the sell list hanging in the trading system has been completed. Someone just listed three hundred ”War Wolf” beast-shaped mechas manufactured by the Sky Wheel Mecha Company. These mechas are long on the bandit army’s procurement list, needing to be acquired. Meanwhile, it’s best to meet the owner to see if more goods can be ordered.

These are minor matters; the important thing today is to meet a few businessmen introduced by the bandit army’s beautiful deputy commander. These merchants, some of whom Old Klaus knows, frequently visit neutral countries. Their business is large, with some official backgrounds. Back in the day, Old Klaus wasn’t qualified to talk business with these people, but now...

Sending a signal to his traders, instructing them to purchase the three hundred ”War Wolf” mechas, Old Klaus glanced at the time. It was past 11:00 AM, and in another half hour, morning trades would end. He had arranged to dine with those merchants from neutral countries, and it was time to set off.

Just as Klaus stood up, he suddenly noticed the transaction screens on all the walls of the trading hall and the display screen in front of him flickered simultaneously. Moments later, the dense list of commodity names and prices had vanished without a trace. The screens suddenly went dark.

The trading hall was instantly in chaos. As everyone looked around trying to figure out what went wrong, the screens lit up again; however, instead of transaction information, an announcement appeared!

”From now on, close all trading venues not approved by the Fei Alliance Mars Front Command and stop all transactions not listed on the Mars Front Army’s permitted list. New trading venues and lists will be published later.”

The short two-sentence announcement caused an uproar throughout the market. Merchants were all at a loss, none expected the trading venues to be shut down by the Fei Alliance without any prior indication!

Old Klaus stared blankly at the announcement. He knew tomorrow was the day the Mars Front Army organized the faction arena tournament. These two heavy punches signaled that Carolina and Cheng Zhixuan had begun to target the bandit army. They aimed to completely marginalize factions following the bandit army and seize control of this channel!

Old Klaus took out his communicator; he needed to inform his superior—Audrey—about this news immediately.

However, busy with operations, Old Klaus did not notice the sudden deadly silence in the trading hall. Not until his communicator was suddenly snatched from his hand did he realize that a team of armed Feiyang Soldiers, led by a Feiyang Lieutenant, was standing in front of him.

”Klaus?” The Lieutenant lifted Old Klaus’s trader ID badge off his chest, looked at it contemptuously, and tore it off: ”You are guilty of illegally manipulating commodity prices, colluding with pirates, and trading controlled substances. Arrest him!” As the Feiyang Lieutenant waved, two Feiyang Soldiers pulled Klaus’s hands behind his back.

”Take him away!”
