Counterfeit Hero

In the starry sky, the slaughter continues.

Although the surviving warships of the Suss A2 Fleet, having come back to their senses, have already activated their energy shields, the destruction of the carrier and the death of the fleet commander led to the complete collapse of the entire fleet’s command system. Each warship can only fight on its own. Without command and coordination, one can imagine how futile such struggling is.

Compared to the Chuckna Fleet when it was attacked by the Suss A1 Fleet, the situation of the A2 Fleet at this moment is undoubtedly more tragic.

When the 1201 Fleet finished the jump, it just happened to crash into the broadside of the A1 Fleet’s volley against the Feiyang B15 Fleet, only attacking a corner of the circular defensive formation. However, the A2 Fleet ended the jump in a Triangle Attack Formation, suffering a devastating strike from the 1201 Fleet’s Luu Zecheng Formation, which had been long planned.

In modern space combat, because of the special nature of the spatial battlefield environment, the requirements for formations are far stricter than those of ground armored units.

These formations are not the formations of the ancient cold weapon era. Ancient formations, to be serious, were just different shapes produced by simple troop configurations during face-to-face battles. Military commanders would merely, during confrontations, roughly allocate troop numbers based on the composition of their military branches, terrain, and strategic objectives.

Yet in this universe space, where one can maneuver in all directions, with the highly advanced technological cooperation of warships, the meaning and concepts of battle formations have far exceeded those of ancient formations. In the battles between space fleets, the battle formation is the foundation of combat.

The battle formations of space fleets have been meticulously calculated and set.

The distance between warships, the angles of attack and cover, the speeds of ships in different parts of the formation, their routes, and even the coordination of firepower, target allocation, and firing sequence during battle... all of this has, over thousands of years of space warfare history, formed highly scientific and detailed standards.

These standards combine countless warships together, generating more powerful forces through mutual support and coordination.

Simply put, during an attack, a battle formation can concentrate firepower and significantly increase combat strength. In defense, it minimizes the area of attack and provides cover for companions.

It can be said that in this vast starry sky, the history of space warfare is a history of the evolution of battle formations! Apart from battles with special terrain, most combats are determined by formations. Conducting an evenly matched decisive battle in the empty void without the unified coordination of a battle formation is simply unimaginable.

The outcome of an unreasonable formation meeting a brilliant one doesn’t even require speculation.

The more a commander can skillfully manipulate formation changes and master timing, the greater their say in space battles, and the higher their chances of winning.

How to counter enemy formation changes, how to master the timing of formation transformations, and how to use reasonable formations to achieve strategic objectives are all must-know for a capable commander. Otherwise, even with superior forces and warships, facing an adversary’s unpredictable formations, defeat and demise are inevitable.

Common fleet formations include the circular defensive formation and the triangular attack formation.

Unlike the ground-based Mecha formations, in space, fleet formations are three-dimensional. Other commonly used formations also include the Half-Arc Formation, Conical Assault Formation, Long Snake Formation, Trident Charge Formation, and so on. When Zhang Pengcheng was first attacked, he adopted the Zipper Formation, which is a rather special formation. But of all formations, none are more special than the Luu Zecheng Formation.

Due to the Luu Zecheng Formation’s extremely rational and powerful firepower assault on fleets that have not activated their energy shields, this formation is referred to by interstellar navy personnel as the Absolute Kill Formation. If a fleet without energy shields is attacked by an enemy with such a formation planned in advance, it is almost impossible to avoid destruction.

Yet the most special aspect of the Luu Zecheng Formation is that it has very limited applications.

In the vast jump area of a Space Jump Point, no fleet can pinpoint the exact location of a fleet emerging from a jump. Naturally, there’s no way to set up a formation. And in face-offs between two armies, it’s even less likely that a fleet would keep its shields down, allowing the enemy to use the Luu Zecheng Formation at will.

Thus, the Luu Zecheng Formation can only be used in the precise coordinate range of a jump end zone.

However, usually, when a fleet conducts a jump, advance warships will scout the way, making an ambush almost impossible. Only in urgent battle situations would a fleet skip deploying reconnaissance ships, and at such times, usually, an allied fleet is engaged with the enemy on the other side of the Jump Channel. During the fight, for the enemy fleet to align into a Luu Zecheng Formation would merely be a fantasy.

At this moment, Brenridge, Maeda Youta, and everyone in the Suss A1 Fleet only feel cold in their hands and feet. They never dreamt that in such a dominant ambush battle, they would helplessly let the Chuckna Fleet set up the Luu Zecheng Formation and deal a devastating blow to the A2 Fleet!

Trident Charge Formation, Triangle Attack Formation... Whatever formation the Chuckna people deploy is fine, but why did they choose this damned, almost impossible Luu Zecheng Formation?!
