Counterfeit Hero

”Main power cabin restart, five minutes countdown.”

”Engine No.1 start, Engine No.2 prepare.......”

”Fault alarm in Torpedo Room No.4, Logistics Repair Department head over immediately for troubleshooting...”

Reports and orders from the staff echoed in the Command Room.

Looking at the Suss Transport Fleet appearing on the radar as expected on the command table, Sammon took a deep breath. He was waiting.

”God....... Suss Fleet!” The radar operator’s terrified voice almost flashed simultaneously with the dense dots on the radar screen on the console: ”A-level Fleet, port side, sixty thousand kilometers away from us!

Sammon looked at the main screen on the central console. Sixty thousand kilometers away, countless Suss battleships ended their warp, emerging from the void. Their fierce prows pointed straight at the B15 Fleet. His heart sank to the bottom. The bandit army’s intelligence was true. This was indeed a trap.

”All accelerate!” Sammon tightly grabbed the armrest of the command seat, suddenly standing up. Ordered: ”Starboard 700 degrees, full engines.”

The sudden appearance of the Suss Fleet threw the entire B15 Fleet, still immersed in the excitement of discovering the Suss Transport Fleet, into chaos.

With Sammon’s order, the entire fleet erupted like a hive. The spindle-shaped fleet formation chaotically swung its tail, the flowing light emitted by the ships’ rear thrusters instantly became dazzlingly bright. The spindle formation, like a veil tossed to the ground, spread out in mid-air, swiftly pulling apart the distances between the ships, started one after another, each darting towards the right front.

”The Suss Fleet is pursuing us.” The radar operator’s statement, nearly qualifying as redundant, sent a chill to everyone’s heart on the ships. Except for Sammon, few knew what would happen after the warp ended. The appearance of the Suss Fleet was too sudden for them.

Meanwhile, as the B15 Fleet accelerated, the freshly emerged Suss Fleet also swiftly pursued, which itself revealed a fact — the appearance of this Suss Fleet was no accident. When discovering Feiyang Fleet, they did not hesitate at all! They had prepared long ago! This was a trap!

”The escort ships of the Suss Transport Fleet are closing in on us!” The radar operator’s mouth, always spewing bad news, made everyone wish they could sew it shut!

”They are firing at us!” This time, it was the observer.

Dozens of white light clusters and hundreds of small red light clusters suddenly flashed on the left side of the fleet. The fleet advancing at high speed immediately seemed to have rushed from under the eaves into a curtain of rain.

The energy shields of several Destroyers and Cruisers on the fleet’s left wing shimmered with colors under the impact of the white energy light clusters. Brilliant and terrifying. The violent shockwaves from the energy explosions caused the battleships to sway left and right. The fleet left wing instantly became chaotic.

”Port turret suppressing fire, don’t stop, accelerate to disengage!”

Sammon gritted his teeth in hatred, yet felt powerless. The initially preyed upon Suss Transport Fleet suddenly turned into the hunter’s hounds, trying to use its attack to slow the B15 Fleet’s speed. Yet at this moment, he had no way to stop and eliminate them. This feeling of suffocation made his eyes redden.

The Feiyang B15 Fleet, after all, was equipped with Feiyang Main Battleships.

Five ”Unicorn” class battleships charging forward could almost ignore the intercepting fire of the Suss Transport Fleet. And the eight ”Frenzied Shark” class Heavy Cruisers and twenty ”Young Lion” class Destroyers positioned on the left flank, after opening up their port turrets fully, were also enough to make the Suss Transport Fleet retreat in fear.

In the starry sky, the two fleets brushed past each other over more than ten thousand kilometers. Numerous web-like clusters of ship-borne energy cannon light interweaved like meteors in the void between the fleets. The intermittent explosions and the tremulous and changing glows of the battleship energy shields lit up the entire universe, even the distant Constant Star faded in this colorful light of death.

At the cost of one ”Young Lion” class Destroyer, the Feiyang B15 Fleet finally broke through the fire interception of the Suss Transport Fleet, cutting across the void, and at a distance of twelve thousand kilometers from the Suss Transport Fleet, they plunged into the Smoke Lake Barrier Zone. The delay caused by the Suss Transport Fleet during these few minutes already reduced the distance between the flank Suss A-level Fleet and them to thirty thousand kilometers.

In ancient cold weapon warfare, there was an experience known as not entering the forest lightly. In this era of interstellar warfare, this experience was transplanted into space pursuits.

Here, the forest refers to the perilous environment of barrier zones and nebulas.

Fighting in the void without asteroids or visual obstructions is completely different from fighting in barrier zones and nebulas.

In the boundless void, the fleets compared the strength of the ships, the variation in tactics, the coordination among the ships, plus the electronic attack suppression interference and the density and accuracy of firepower. But in barrier zones and nebulas, all these factors’ efficacy collectively reduce by eighty percent! In barrier zone combat, the most important factor is geographical location!

Amid countless asteroids, debris, and gas dust, being preemptively captured by the opponent to an advantageous position almost means a disastrous defeat.

This is the radar’s restricted zone; it is the sanctum for ambushes and sneak attacks.
