Counterfeit Hero

All warships of the Chuckna 1201 Fleet have already received the information about the command authority and SkyNet control transfer sent by Admiral Zhang Pengcheng. However, none of them dare to believe it.

The ship captains couldn’t understand why at this critical moment, Admiral Zhang Pengcheng would make such a decision. Allowing a little Leray Major General who is hiding in god-knows-where to command Chuckna’s elite First A-level Fleet of the 12th Group Fleet is simply a maddening joke. That guy is Army!

For a while, messages requesting flagship highest authority confirmation spread overwhelmingly. In communications among each other, there were also only inquiries and confusion.

But all anyone could get was a four-word reply from Zhang Pengcheng himself.

”Confirmed without error!”

On the command computers in front of the ship captains, after several high-level authority transfer prompts popped up, a new highest authority code appeared connecting to the flagship’s command system—SM.King.

”Damn it!”

In the command room of the Chuckna Cruiser [Brooks], Colonel Ship Captain Andre could hardly believe his eyes. Just when his cruiser was about to coordinate with the other two destroyers to break through the blockade of the enemy destroyer squadron located in the C61 area of the Suss Fleet’s overall formation, and open a path for the flank advance of the Chuckna Destroyer Group, the first order issued by SM.King was to turn right 2200 ticks, to join the other cruisers on the right wing and move toward the left wing.

”Where did this idiot come from?!” Andre was practically jumping with rage: ”Is it that Leray fatty? Does he know what he’s doing?!”

The officers in the various cabins responsible for the main gun, torpedo, etc., who had halted their attack actions, and the staff in the command room, were all indignant. For a while, there was clamour throughout the warship.

”Damn! What’s this guy doing?”

”Can he fight at all?”

”Damn it, I’ve heard that this guy is from the aviation marine corps as a mechanic soldier, besides having that ’aviation’ association, I’d bet he doesn’t even know how a warship operates!”

”Alright, before I die, I’ll damn well have gained some experience!”

Despite the anger, they had no choice but to obey orders. On the Brooks’ left side, another cruiser [Soarer] had already begun to execute the turn order.

This situation appeared on every warship in the 1201 Fleet.

Amid the complaints, something even more infuriating emerged.

Turn angle, speed, time control, ship’s disengagement stance from combat, route, distance between neighboring ships, primary and secondary positioning...... These messages rapidly flooded into the command computers of various ships.

”Why focus just on us? Does navigating a warship really need such handholding guidance?”

Many ship captains were fuming. Already filled with anger from the heat of battle, seeing such infantile combat orders only added fuel to their fire.

Everyone assumed that such orders were targeted individually at them.

In the ever-changing battlefield, a flagship typically only sets broad tactical directions, with specific operations left to each ship to complete as required by those tactics. No commander would issue such detailed orders for every warship. These kinds of orders usually appear on a ship that is either not trusted or has encountered problems.

The ship captains carried out the orders and remained silent. In the inter-ship coordination system, no one brought up this issue. Being guided in such detailed manner was not an honorable thing.

Yet, in their hearts, was a ball of anger. If not for their respect and trust for Zhang Pengcheng, no one would execute such orders.

The Chuckna Fleet began changing their battle formation under an incredibly bizarre and stifling atmosphere. The Battleship Main Formation split into two groups, respectively heading from left and right, performing encirclement maneuvers clockwise and counterclockwise. Meanwhile, the cruiser group, destroyer group, and six space fighter groups that had been in a strangling state began more complex and almost dazzling tactical adjustments while engaging the Suss Fleet.

This brutal battle suddenly became very interesting at this time.

The Suss people didn’t know what the Chuckna people wanted to do, and the Chuckna people themselves didn’t know either!

”Commander.....” Major General Marshall, red-faced, pointed to the command computer before him: ”Do you think this counts as an insult?”

”Hmm.....” Staring blankly at the combat plan, Zhang Pengcheng raised his head somewhat dazedly: ”What’s the matter?”

”That guy actually drew up a route map and fighter operations table for me!” Major General Marshall shouted: ”In thirty years, damn it, I haven’t seen anything like this. Does he think I don’t know how to complete tactical tasks?”

”Really?” Zhang Pengcheng blinked.

”He....” Marshal was interrupted by the voice of a staff officer just as he was about to yell.

”Major General Marshall!” At the SkyNet Control Console beneath the command platform, the staff officer turned around, holding the communicator on his headset, reporting in the ship captain’s channel, ”The real-time combat plan number one has been transmitted. SM.King requests that we immediately dispatch two Space Fighter groups to the S21 airspace for coordinated operations.”

”Combat plan?” Marshall quickly glanced at his command computer, and moments later, he sprang up from his seat, turning to Zhang Pengcheng and exclaimed, ”God, he wants us to attack the Suss Mother Ship?!”

Perhaps influenced by Marshall, the command channel was suddenly a flurry of communication requests. Every ship captain of the 1201 Fleet was in a frenzy over this mad and inexplicable order.

When Zhang Pengcheng pressed the communication key on the command channel, all sorts of voices poured out like a tidal wave.

”Everyone shut the hell up!” Zhang Pengcheng, ignoring the angry or grim faces of the ship captains on the communication screen, slammed the table: ”I have the combat plan in my hands, and I know what he wants to do. Whatever you have to say, tell me after the battle! And then, you’ll have no choice but to speak, and I’ll let you vent to your heart’s content. Now, if you don’t want to lose your lives here, execute the orders!”

In the Chuckna 12th Group Fleet, Zhang Pengcheng was the ruler. His character and military genius were trustworthy. More importantly, almost every officer in this fleet was personally promoted by him! And among them, there were absolutely no sycophants.

This was enough.

All the voices disappeared.

In the silent universe, each battleship began to turn, began to congregate.

”Did they really find it?” Maeda Youta’s words made Burenridge furrow his brow and murmur.

”It must be like this.” Maeda Youta confidently said, ”Admiral Burenridge, look here...”

He used an electronic pen to pass through the virtual light screen, pointing at a cubical airspace numbered S18 on the three-dimensional interstellar map: ”This is the area where our main formation is located...” Then, the electronic pen’s cursor fell on the two airspaces behind S18, and Maeda Youta continued, ”This is the S19 and S20 airspaces...”

The trajectory of the electronic pen suddenly drew two semi-circles to the left and right from the current location of the Chuckna Battleship Main Formation towards the S20 airspace, and Maeda Youta excitedly said, ”The inner circle cruiser group leaves the left wing and loops to the right wing, the outer circle battleships split into two parts, rotating around us in clockwise and counterclockwise directions, this is a typical multi-layered pick-and-roll maneuver!”

”They’re trying to use their inner circle cruisers and destroyers to block for their battleships movement. Once the battleships move into the target position, if our fleet is unable to maneuver further from S20 due to the attrition from their cruisers and destroyers, then to maintain the angle of the main cannons, we must head towards S20 airspace! This way, the enemy’s cruisers and destroyers would rotate behind us under the cover of battleship salvo fire, thus the finished warp space of the A2 Fleet would then be behind our position...”

”Correct!”

”Indeed!”

The surrounding combat staff all suddenly understood, nodding in agreement: ”It must be like this.”

”Cunning Chuckna people!”

”No...” Burenridge paced back and forth in thought: ”They must have another purpose. This kind of movement, though it avoids being pincered, isn’t of much use to their doomed fate, it only stalls for time.”

”General, my First Destroyer team is obstructed, unable to conduct long line breakthrough operations. The enemy cruiser group is conducting fortress-style interceptions.”

”General! Two Chuckna fighter groups have dispatched, their target is unclear.”

”Report, battleship firing angle deviation, enemy battleship group is about to leave the firing area. Main Formation requesting instructions.”

”Admiral Burenridge...” Amid the rising reports of the staff officers, Maeda Youta anxiously looked at Burenridge. The battle was fierce, leaving no time for hesitation.

”Main formation reposition, wings rotate, absolutely cannot let the Chuckna fleet do their pick-and-roll.” Unable to think of a solution, Burenridge finally accepted Maeda Youta’s analysis, gritting his teeth and ordered: ”Mother Ship withdraw to S21 airspace, fully release fighters, slow down the movement speed of Chuckna Battleship group to gain retreat time for the front line.”

”Yes!”
