Counterfeit Hero

Though both are A-level fleets, the Chuckna people will understand that this is not their battlefield.

When they retreat, other Suss Fleets on the edge of the Star System will form a large net to intercept and blockade. This net may not necessarily capture the Chuckna Fleet, but it is more than enough to drive them off the main route! If the Commander of the Chuckna Fleet gets slightly heated, they will face not just a pushback but total annihilation.

Now, the fleet lying in wait in the 1861 Star System is the A1 Fleet. Meanwhile, the A2 Fleet is in the 1871 Star System, and the A3 Fleet has already hidden in the 1851 Star System. The A5 Fleet is waiting in the 1841 Star System.

If the Chuckna Fleet arrives a little late, coinciding with the A2 Fleet bypassing the particularly slow Transport Fleet, completely wiping out the Chuckna Fleet isn’t impossible.

Standing at the simulation podium, the gathered advisors halted their exercises and stood solemnly awaiting orders, ”Execute the plan!” Gershkov said, ”Order the First Group Fleet A1 Fleet to proceed immediately to the Smoke Lake Barrier Zone and carry out the chase plan. Order A2 to converge quickly on the A1 Fleet, A3 and A5 mixed fleets to quickly seal off the Jump Point.”

”Yes!” the advisors responded loudly, saluted, then turned to busy themselves. The entire bridge Command Room became a flurry of activity with calls, footsteps, and various sounds arising.

Standing at the empty simulation podium, Gershkov stared at the interstellar map, slowly picking up an electronic rod to push a fleet symbol on the screen toward the Smoke Lake Barrier Zone in the 1681 Star System.

A wave-like blue light flashed across the expansive interstellar map. The simulation program quickly calculated the fleet’s movement as it progressed.

When the electronic rod moved the fleet to the Smoke Lake Barrier Zone, the entire map transformed into a multi-layer map centered around this fleet. In the outermost layer of the AR-1861 Star System, a red shoulder pointed to the center. In the second layer, two arrows were moving toward the 1861 Star System Jump Point. In the outer layer, three arrows blocked other related Star Systems along the third segment of the route.

”Such a pity,” murmured Gershkov disappointedly, shaking his head. No matter how it looked, the positions of the other Fleets were not in an ideal position to completely trap the Chuckna Fleet. If the Chuckna people wanted to escape, they could. The most achievable result was merely biting away at them during this pursuit.

”General, this is a report just received from the A2 Fleet!”

An advisor’s voice interrupted Gershkov’s thoughts.

He looked up, taking the file from the advisor’s hand.

”Feiyang Fleet?” Gershkov’s pupils contracted suddenly. Moments later, his tightly furrowed brow relaxed, his mouth curved into a playful smile: ”God, when he closes a door, always opens a window.”

Closing the folder, he gazed at the electronic marker representing the Chuckna Fleet at the simulation podium’s center, smiling, ”Order the A2 Fleet to conceal their movements and let them in.”

In an instant, when Fatty pointed it out, Fang Xiang understood.

That was where the Suss Transport Fleet enters the Jump Channel after passing through the Barrier Zone!

There, they’ll increase engine power to Jump standards, set the automatic navigation system, align formation, and enter the Jump Channel sequentially, hence a stopover for nearly five minutes. Five minutes, although brief, is sufficient for the Bandit Army Fleet to complete the first wave of attacks! Moreover, given the Bandit Army’s collision tactics, this place was undoubtedly very fitting.

”Just having passed through the Barrier Zone, everyone would unconsciously relax mentally,” Fatty chuckled: ”Especially in this open, clean airspace. Imagine when we emerge from the void and crash into their formation....”

”I agree,” Fang Xiang replied without hesitation.

”I also agree!” Chekov nodded.

”Agreed!”

The meeting room filled with affirmations. Carl quickly marked the ambush location on the battle plan.

”The specific ambush formation will primarily be a funnel-shaped backfire!” As the battlefield site commander for this fight, Fang Xiang carried forward from Fatty’s suggestion, and her experience in direct command was evidently more extensive.

She pointed at several space coordinates on the map: ”Two Battleships, on the left and right, ambush above the Barrier Zone exit in the same direction as the enemy ships. Cruisers will ambush from the flanks and simultaneously attack the enemy’s escort fleet. The remaining Armed Merchant Ships will be stationed at the front to block the enemy Transport Ship’s Jump....”

”If there are no other questions....” After laying out the battle deployment, Fang Xiang looked around: ”Everyone, get ready.”

Minutes later, the fleet was in position, battleship portholes, energy shields, and thrusters completely shut down, one by one activating Optical deflection devices and disappearing into the void.

”Why did you think of attacking outside the Barrier Zone?” Fang Xiang asked Fatty softly.

”As a romantic idealist...” Fatty’s eyes were distant: ”I couldn’t bear for the beautiful nebula to be defiled by the wreckage of battleships.”

”Bah!”

Fang Xiang turned her head indignantly and saw Cecilia approaching briskly with a solemn expression.

”General... the Reconnaissance Ship has identified the movements of the Suss A-level Fleet! They’re advancing swiftly toward us.”
