Counterfeit Hero

”Stay calm... damn it, stay calm...”

After learning that the Feiyang Fleet entered the jump channel, causing the Chuckna Fleet to be unable to retreat, Fatty felt like smoke was coming out of his seven orifices. Major General Samon of the Feiyang Fleet was just an incredibly colossal fool! So foolish that you can’t even see the end!

”What do you plan to do?” Fatty cursed in his heart but showed a sincere face, ”Is there anything we can help with?”

The bandit army currently lacks development time and space. No matter what, they can’t let the Mars Front Army, this beautiful and free shield, shatter. The deep scholarly logic of ’if the lips die, the teeth are cold,’ Fatty has never understood. But he understands better than anyone that to hide alongside, throw punches quietly, and spit from afar, you need a strong figure in front doing the job.

To the current bandit army, who looks more like a big dumb guy than the burly Fei Alliance Joint Army?

Seeing Fatty’s sincere and honest gaze, Zhang Pengcheng smiled wryly and sighed in his heart, wondering why the Feiyang Fleet wasn’t led by the composed, steadfast, and upright Major General Tian instead.

Although not explicitly stated, he wasn’t a fool; how could he not understand Major General Samon of the Feiyang Fleet’s little scheming intentions?! He simply wanted to seize the opportunity to gain some credit! Nowadays, how many armies are pure soldiers? Each one is more greedy for money and power than the last. Ironically, it is the Leray, who were previously looked down upon, that, after years of the War for Freedom, have honed a group of upright men!

The Chuckna people, who have always prided themselves on being able to fight, willing to fight, and daring to fight, most respect heroes who are forged in battles of blood and fire! Since Leray’s exiled President Flavio’s public speech commemorating Hamilton, the days have seen countless Chuckna people visit the Leray embassy in the Chuckna Capital daily to express respect and greetings, offering a bouquet of flowers to Hamilton.

The thirty million indomitable Leray people are enough to command respect from the Chuckna people. There’s also public introspection and criticism regarding Chuckna’s initial calculations in the war.

Now, without mentioning Major General Tian of Leray’s early warning that avoided the 1201 Fleet from crashing into the Suss people’s trap, just holding his composure after knowing the reckless actions of the Feiyang Fleet may cause severe consequences is something to admire.

”I know the bandit army has always been under General Tian’s leadership...” As Fatty was about to explain, Zhang Pengcheng waved his hand, ”I know General Tian’s difficulties; some things are better left unsaid. This time, since things have come to this, I can’t watch you perish without helping. Chuckna, after all, is on the same ship as the Fei Alliance; it would be detrimental to disrupt relations with the Feiyang because of this.”

Seeing Fatty’s face with a dubious expression, Admiral Zhang Pengcheng smiled bitterly, ”Leray has already paid a heavy price for this war. Since President Hamilton’s memorial conference, whatever you do, the Fei Alliance won’t ponder deeply. At a time like this, if you choose to stand by, no one can blame you. Furthermore, the bandit army is not the official Leray army in name. But we Chuckna cannot do the same; now all the eyes of Fei Alliance countries are on us.”

A moment of silence.

”Let’s leave it at that!” Zhang Pengcheng squared his shoulders, ”This is a battle among A-level fleets; think of a way to leave as soon as possible. If I survive back to Mars, I’ll give Samon a punch and then treat you to a drink!”

He stood up straight and saluted, ”Thank you!”

The communication was cut off. Zhang Pengcheng’s earnest and forthright square face seemed to linger in the retina.

Fatty opened his mouth as if to speak, but ultimately just stared blankly at the screen.

”Twenty seconds until jump ends.”

On Battleship Black Tulip, the monotonous and mechanical electronic voice of the central computer echoed in every corner.

”Fifteen seconds until jump ends.”

Despite the warship’s counter-reaction system already being activated, the bustling crew stopped and found the safety positions scattered throughout the vessel to sit down, holding onto handrails tightly, some even fastening seatbelts.

”Ten, nine, eight... four, three, two...”

The electronic voice counted down without respite, and in the control room, crew members raised their heads, tensely watching the main screen of the main control platform.

”One... jump ended.”

With the electronic audible alert, vast starlit space suddenly unfolded onto the pitch-black main monitor.

The hull of the rapidly decelerating warship emitted various strange noises, the electronic lights embedded behind translucent metal walls flickered. Reaction devices sharply roared, desperately counteracting the inertia of the ship’s deceleration. Even so, everyone aboard the vessel could feel their bodies undergoing relentless compression and pulling, the hand holding onto the railing with veins standing out.

”Zzz...” The roar of the counter-reaction devices began to mellow, gradually waning.

The invisible pressure slowly subsided. Sailors accustomed to transition-ending states promptly left safety points, serene warships, regaining chaos and bustle.

”General Samon!”

Inside the central control room, a staffer reported loudly before the central computer, ”Suss Transport Fleet detected, radar locked on target.”

”General, target coordinates are 45732.4312.95947.6, situated at the first section of the Smoke Lake Barrier Zone, 28,000 kilometers away.” The radar operator’s report followed.

”All fleet vessels have successfully ended the transition, formation is adjusted, no stragglers,”
