Counterfeit Hero

Opportunities are fleeting, and she didn’t want to let any chance slip away, especially when this opportunity came from the command post and the intelligence obtained by the Feiyang intelligence system—for the alliance command center primarily led by the Feiyang Republic Army, she had a natural trust.

The comprehensive result of the intelligence showed the feasibility of the attack plan.

In the third voyage segment, there is simply no force that could pose a threat to the Chuckna 1201 Fleet. If this opportunity were missed, Carolina could almost foresee the evaluation from the alliance command center towards herself!

”Indecisive!”

Such a comment was something she, who had just taken on major responsibilities, could not tolerate. Especially in a situation where victory was within grasp.

Therefore, she could not let Zhang Pengcheng hesitate any longer.

”General Zhang, I know you’re concerned about the uncertainty of our intelligence,” Carolina said with a smile, ”If our reconnaissance ships fail to spot the enemy’s ambush, and your fleet appears there... it would surely be a disaster. However, opportunities are fleeting, and I will issue orders in the name of the command post, bearing the responsibility. Meanwhile, you can dispatch more reconnaissance ships to act after confirming there’s no danger. Additionally, I will order the B15 fleet to proceed directly to the target area for coordinated protection.”

”Alright!” Zhang Pengcheng nodded. In the face of rational analysis, intuition alone was not enough to influence a commander’s decision.

Moreover, as a traditional soldier, he felt an inner admiration for the decisiveness and willingness to take responsibility demonstrated by this Feiyang Female Major General. He then stated, ”I will proceed cautiously to the target area. However, I hope the B15 fleet commander can follow my command. In this matter, there can be no negligence.”

Located at the third section of the Southeast Main Channel, the AR--1871 Public Star System is a binary system composed of two stars.

Amidst the dazzling light of the twin stars, six crudely appearing large iron-gray transport ships and a giant transport ship, escorted by thirty equally iron-gray Suss battleships, were slowly traversing an obstacle zone composed of an asteroid belt and dense gaseous dust surrounding the pair of companion stars.

In terms of aesthetic appearance, the Suss people were indeed very stingy.

In the bridge control room of the flagship battleship ”Victoria,” Valerian Bod was intently staring at the radar detection screen and optical telescopic images on the central control panel, periodically reviewing the data and reports sent back by the electronic reconnaissance ship clearing the way ahead. His elongated face seemed covered with a layer of frost, lips tightly pressed, with a pair of piercing narrow eyes under thick brows.

Standing quietly in front of the control panel, after watching for a full half hour, Bod pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers, then tapped twice on the virtual keyboard in front of a staff officer. Soon, the fleet’s SkyNet surveillance images appeared on the screen. The images, captured from different angles by optical lenses distributed on various battleships, showed the fleet on the move.

A circular defensive formation made up of one ”Typhoon” class battleship, six ”Roar” class cruisers, and twelve ”Sharp Blade” class destroyers tightly surrounded the large and cumbersome seven transport ships.

At this moment, led by two electronic reconnaissance ships and four escort ships at the front left and right, the fleet was passing through the spaces between dozens of asteroids with diameters ranging from several hundred meters to about a thousand meters. Occasionally, small fragments rolled over, colliding with the ships’ external armor and being silently deflected away.

Bod’s gaze fell on the giant transport ship in the shape of a rugby ball, which was larger than the six large transport ships combined. This ”Ice Bear” was the primary focus of his escort mission.

”Where are the reconnaissance ships now?” Bod asked the intelligence liaison officer beside him.

”The foremost ’Bee’ has already entered the jump channel and is expected to reach the next obstacle zone in an hour. The second echelon’s reconnaissance ships have also passed the current obstacle zone and are expanding their monitoring range,” the intelligence officer, absorbed in the computer screen, looked up and replied.

Bod nodded, hesitated for a moment, and instructed: ”Keep the reconnaissance ships alert. Every place they pass must be thoroughly searched to ensure the fleet’s safety.”

”Yes, General.” The junior intelligence officer replied without hesitation. Turning back to pick up the communicator, a slight smile appeared on his face. It was the twelfth time he’d heard the same words and executed the same order.

The subtle change in the intelligence liaison officer’s expression didn’t escape Bod’s eyes.

He said nothing, only turning expressionlessly to head back to his command seat. As the Major General Commander of the A2 mixed fleet D1 squadron of the Suss Saleria Army’s Second Army Group, this was not his first time on a transport escort mission. However, this time was especially distinctive for him.

The battle between the Suss and Chuckna in the Resk Star System had reached a fever pitch.

So far, the Suss Empire had lost over sixteen A-level mixed fleets in Resk, with the Chuckna Republic suffering similarly. Now, the jump point leading from Resk to the main channel had become a ball rolling back and forth between the two sides! Today it might be in Suss’s hands, but by tomorrow, passing through this jump point could well be Chuckna’s fleet.

Therefore, the current main channel was no longer the Suss Fleet’s domain as it had been a few months ago.
