Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 351: Chapter 136: The First Day (3)

In the distance, the massive fleet remained seemingly untouched, but was surrounded underwater by the Shahua Fishmen, and a towering Sand Lake Fishman Prince, measuring three meters and a half in height, suddenly leaped from the sea and landed directly on the deck of the flagship.

”Gahn, why retreat at this moment,” said the Fishman Prince, his six arms clenched with a grim expression as his strong physique drenched the deck.

He easily pushed aside the bulky Beastman Guards and approached the calm Beastman Royal Family, suppressing his burgeoning anger as he questioned, ”We’re so close to success. As long as we clear away all the sunken ships below the sea, we can step straight onto the shore and break that frail city.”

”It’s almost midnight,” the Beastman answered calmly, ”and those timid Giant Dragons have yet to show themselves. Continuing the attack would give them the chance to ambush, not all Beastman Warriors excel at nighttime sea battles.”

”Wouldn’t that just give them a chance to rest,” the Fishman Prince responded with dissatisfaction.

”Our Warriors also need to rest, and besides, the harbor’s defense relies entirely on the help of the wreckage of those sunken ships. Loraka, how long can the incarnation of the God of Sharks you’ve summoned last?”

The Beastman Legion Commander, the highest commander of the entire fleet, Gahn, maintained a serene tone, making it difficult to see him as a quick-tempered, irritable Beastman.

”Two quarters of an hour, our Casters can only sustain it for two quarters of an hour. The brutal God of Sharks isn’t easily mastered,” the Fishman Prince replied, holding back his anger.

”That’s enough,” Beastman Gahn’s eyes glinted slightly as he comforted the Fishman Prince, smiling as he said, ”Tomorrow, just tomorrow, we’ll break through this harbor’s defenses and step into the Golden City.”

The battlefield gradually calmed down, and the thick clouds in the sky began to disperse, returning to tranquility.

Blue Dragon Akzhi descended from high in the sky onto the platform in the city, landing beside Bronze Dragon Alina and Ocean Dragon Naxson, but his heavy stature accidentally snapped a wooden plank.

”You should go rest, Akzhi, from now on, I will oversee the situation here,” the Bronze Dragon looked at the Blue Dragon’s weary state, realizing that this Blue Dragon was somewhat unable to freely control his own body.

”I will, tomorrow I will come on time to relieve you, Alina, the upcoming patrol and defense is up to you,”

Blue Dragon Akzhi felt as if all his Magic Power had been drained, the continuous casting of the Thundercloud Storm magic left even a Giant Dragon somewhat overwhelmed by the consumption.

”I wonder how Carlette and Ali are doing, I am not quite at ease with them,” Bronze Dragon Alina suddenly remarked.

”Merely letting them conduct harassment and raids with the Flying Dragon Riders, not a direct confrontation with the Beastman Tribe, if they can’t even handle this, then they aren’t deserving of being Dragons.”

Blue Dragon Akzhi said coldly, not waiting for the Bronze Dragon’s response, he spread his wings and flew towards the city’s resting area.

”It seems that castle won’t last till the third day,” Ocean Dragon Naxson said, now overseeing a significant portion of manpower allocation, including the supply and logistics arrangements in the combat areas around the Golden City, which is why he had time to appear here.

”Then notify the warriors in the castle to be ready to retreat at any time, there’s no need to hold that castle to death, proceed with the next step of the plan,” Bronze Dragon Alina nodded in agreement with her peer’s suggestion.

Ocean Dragon Naxson nodded, disappearing step by step into the shadow beneath the lamplights.

Bronze Dragon Alina sighed, watching the warriors carry injured one after the other from the castle and down the cliff into the city, her heart heavy. Although they withstood the Beastman’s attacks on the first day and the territorial warriors hadn’t suffered many losses, she knew all too well, coming up is the truly brutal moment.

”Hope fewer warriors die,” Alina raised her head high, gazing at the dim lights within the city, reminiscing somewhat about the previous territory.

And at the back of the Golden City, countless voluntarily conscripted logistics personnel were constructing defensive works at the checkpoints along the roads to various towns, watchtowers, and simple barricades rising from the ground.

Kobold soldiers wielding pickaxes and shovels dug deep ditches in front of these defensive facilities, rows of anti-impact stakes akin to chevaux de frise were driven into the ground.

These defensive outposts and facilities were gradually forming into a circular defense system, minimizing the enemy’s impact.

Faen and some robust laborers were assigned to the trench digging work, at this moment wielding shovels turning shallows into trenches.

”They need some brave warriors above, as reservists, any volunteers? The treatment is exceptionally favorable,” a Kobold soldier beat a small drum and shouted aloud in the camp.

Many young men threw down the tools in their hands and gathered around.

Seeing this, Faen dug vigorously a few more times, deepening the shallow pit before he tossed aside his shovel, dusted his hands off, and joined the gathering as well.
