Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 386: Chapter 147: Collusion (Part 2)

”I agree,” a white-haired high school student quickly raised his hand, swiftly expressing his attitude.

”Boss, it looks like this guy isn’t quite the same level of dragon as our original target. They’re both young dragons, yet this one is valued at two A-grade plots and fifty thousand reward points. I think we don’t need to mess with this tough nut.”

The blonde young man, who initially suggested picking this mission, also grew solemn as he looked towards the other nest.

That was the dragon nest of Kleyna, a female dragon. It was similarly a volcano, but only emitted a trail of black smoke, seldom showing flames and lava erupting out of the nest.

Although these guys hadn’t had the chance to investigate the details, the team members with rough knowledge about giant dragons knew that Red Dragons liked to sleep in sweltering environments. Between the two volcanoes, it was obvious which belonged to the creature marked in the mission.

”What a terrifying fellow, merely stained with the will from long-term dwelling in its nest, yet it possesses such formidable oppressive force. Based on what we know, a sleeping giant dragon usually restrains its Dragon Power to fully immerse in its growth.”

The blonde young man looked at his captain and took the initiative to say, ”Judging by this awful will pressure, this guy definitely lives up to the overlord-level creature rating. My vampire heritage is old enough, yet under such majesty, I can’t summon the will to resist. My suggestion is, why not reconsider?”

”No, no, no, I think the Main God has another purpose for this task, but I can’t figure it out right now. We can’t jump to conclusions so quickly, give me some time to think it over.”

The team’s intellectual shook his head, the purple-haired young man showing a thoughtful expression while trailing the group, wandering back and forth.

”Here’s what we’ll do: let’s split up and investigate the situation, gather enough information, then reconvene at the tavern in the evening to decide. We still have a day to make a choice,”

The mature middle-aged captain issued the order, watching his team scatter like birds and beasts, except the blonde young man’s hand was held by the captain.

”Ugh, what’s up, Captain? Don’t do this; you know I’m resistant to intimate contact with men. Only fragrant maidens are worthy to touch my noble body,”

The blonde young man, burdened with ancient vampire heritage, swiftly flung his captain’s hand away disdainfully, about to break out in goosebumps, and pulled out a fine silk handkerchief, wiping the left hand that had been in contact with the captain.

The middle-aged captain’s eye twitched, speaking earnestly, ”You’re increasingly influenced by the vampire heritage now, Little Gold. I remember when you first joined the team, you loved hugging that warrior’s arm.”

”Tch, what’s so good about smelly men? Back then, I was weak and needed to seek the shelter of a stronghold. What’s the matter keeping me here? Don’t tell me there’s danger for me to be a meat shield again. Why don’t you ask that zombie?”

The blonde young man looked dissatisfied, yet he couldn’t realize that even his thoughts were subtly being altered.

”That zombie always has to shout before taking action, which is detrimental to stealth. If we encounter an accident, it directly alerts everyone else,”

The middle-aged captain gazed at the mountain spewing flames and lava and said, ”Come on, we still have to examine our target’s specifics. Know your enemy to draft a strategy; the sleeping Red Dragon is tough to awaken with minor disturbances, and a giant dragon would never allow others to move around his nest.”

”As long as we use the Shadow Stealth Talisman, we can ascend the mountain. After all, this is a precious item worth twelve hundred reward points. I wouldn’t be willing to use it otherwise without such generous rewards this time.”

”Alright,” the blonde young man frowned, reluctantly following beside the middle-aged captain. The two exited the city and traversed through sparsely populated forests.

Their capabilities counted as elite among veterans, making it easy to evade normal Kobold Guards patrols.

Not until reaching the cleared isolation area did the captain retrieve a talisman formed from twisted shadow tracers, infused with his energy to prolong the duration of the stealth talisman.

The two quietly bypassed the frontline set by the Imperial Guard Warriors at the mountain’s base, but as they crossed the line, Wolfman Saha, the guard leader personally on duty, suddenly showed doubt, glancing in their direction, startling the pair.

”That guy is absolutely a powerful monster with such frightening natural intuition,” the two communicated using their team’s internal methods, striving to enhance the Shadow Stealth Talisman’s effect.

Nowadays, the highest mountain in this range was nearly three thousand meters tall. Fortunately, both were strong and fit, enabling an easy climb.

However, they couldn’t afford to be careless, as along this footpath, they faced rows of resting War Tree-men growing on side steps. These War Tree-men communicated with nature, keeping the pair on edge.

”Wow, this guy really goes big, using these tree-men as green belts,” the blonde young man’s eyes sparkled with a hint of wealth.

”Tree-men at this age have tree cores, certainly valuable, being able to craft various beneficial magic equipment. Just thinking of digging a couple to take back; even if we don’t use them, selling them fetches a good price.”
