Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 390: Chapter 148: Sleeping Dragon (Part 3)

But at this moment, the huge city was surrounded by countless Beastmen, with the heavy cannons on and below the city walls roaring.

Under the cover of their long-range attacks, countless Beastmen were carrying siege engines and scaling ladders to assault the towering city walls, with countless Beastmen dying at every moment.

Despite this, the number of endless Beastmen still exceeded a hundred thousand, a black-pressed crowd like a massive, wriggling black curtain covering the barren land, surging towards the city’s defenses like a tide.

Only the eastern wall of the Royal Capital was difficult for the Beastmen to attack with massive forces due to the obstacle of the River of Gold, so after leaving thousands of corpses, they chose to leave a small number of warriors to surround and guard it.

The remaining army crossed the downstream of the River of Gold, besieging the entire Royal Capital, attacking relentlessly.

And the towering city walls, with their solid Magic Defense Barriers already shattered and drained of energy after days of relentless attacks, even the granite walls were pockmarked with the bombardment of heavy cannons and giant crossbows, with potholes the size of bowls everywhere.

Occasionally, crossbowmen and artillerymen defending the city walls were hit by the Beastmen’s heavy cannons, blowing both them and their weapons to pieces.

Some Elf Archers, unable to dodge in time, were pierced by giant Dragon-Hunting Crossbows, their bodies shattering and blood splattering across the walls.

However, with the interference of hundreds of Flying Dragon Riders overhead, the Beastmen’s attack was not smooth, requiring heavy sacrifices to approach this giant city.

White Dragon Gomot furrowed the fine scales on his brow, not seeing the most powerful legions of the Giant Dragon Warriors, trained with enormous wealth from the Giant Dragon Territory.

Even among the warriors defending the walls, besides the numerous Elf Archers, Green-skinned Army, and Dogman Musketeers, there were only many Beastmen wearing Leather Armor, who especially bravely and ruthlessly attacked their own kin.

Blue Dragon Akzhi, who hadn’t ascended to the mountaintop, was roaring on the city walls, directing their defense. Occasionally, he spat lightning, turning some Beastmen trying to leap onto the walls into charred ashes.

Blue Dragon Carlette, Green Dragon Ali, and Young Red Dragon Kedelos each defended a section of the wall, their roaring echoes shaking heaven and earth, heard clearly even by the Dragon Group on the mountaintop.

Only a few timid White Dragons were sneaking behind the broken walls, attacking Beastmen who climbed up with their claws and fangs, or sweeping them off with their long tails.

”Where is Chiron? Has he vanished from this world too, along with Yougu, Jib? These warriors’ strength is comparable to ordinary Dragons, their legion is our most reliable and loyal battle group, have they all fallen to the Holy Hall?”

These outstanding warriors were known by the Dragon Group, for their loyalty and their strength that challenged Dragons, thus catching the attention of the Dragon Group.

”Hehe, they’re not in the city. On the day before the siege, they were already transferred out. If it weren’t for noticing that you and Kleyna were about to awaken, we should have launched a full counterattack long ago.”

Red Copper Dragon Alfred said shaking his head, now possessing Bronze Dragon Alina as a mate, being one of the lords of the Dragon Group Territory, and engaging in his favorite work, his mood among the Dragon Group was the most relaxed.

”It seems you already have a plan,” White Dragon Gomot relaxed the fine scales on his brow, his Dragon Language voice deep and powerful.

”Then follow your plan. This war should end by our hands, not disturbing the Great Lord’s slumber, do not disturb the Sleeping Dragon!”

...

Night fell upon the Land of Golden. The once Golden City had been rebuilt by Beastmen, leaving a large army to guard it, storing supplies for the Beastman Army.

Thus, there were numerous warriors guarding, a force of twenty thousand, along with several powerful Legion Commanders, extremely strong warriors in the Saint Tier.

After receiving unwavering support from the Beastman Kingdom, the strength of the Beastman Army became even stronger.

But in these two years of war, though the Flying Dragon Riders and some Giant Dragons from the Dragon Group intercepted and damaged the supply ships from the Beastman Kingdom on the sea, to avoid losses, they never invaded this re-established military fortress.

Thus, the Beastmen in the city appeared particularly relaxed and complacent, openly drinking cheap liquor bought from human merchants at their sentry posts, loudly discussing the future plans for this fertile land.

In the eyes of these Beastmen, breaking the giant Dragon’s City of Capito was just a matter of time, this fertile and wealthy land, cultivated deeply by Dragons, was about to become the new home of the Beastmen.

These Beastmen no longer needed to crowd on islands, worrying about the depleting resources and the increasingly sizeable Beastman population.

The Beastman Kingdom wouldn’t face the risk of division again, instead returning to the Main Continent’s stage, thriving in this slightly remote yet blessed Land of Golden, until reclaiming ancient glories.

Yet these Beastmen didn’t notice, beneath their newly built fortress, tunnels were being dug, warriors quietly waiting in the passages for the signal.

”According to the plan, each team needs to tackle its own target, if you fail, ignite your flare, someone will come to finish it for you, but by then, your mission is considered a failure,”

A warrior in black Battle Armor said in a muffled voice from under his Face Armor, not wielding any weapons, his weapons being a pair of steel claws replacing handguards.

The warrior’s Battle Armor was engraved with intricate rune lines, the helmet’s mark resembling a wolf head, clearly an improved version of Magical Power Armor.

This batch of armor was called Nightwalker Armor, belonging to the experimental Nightwalker Battle Corps’ armor.

The small Nightwalker Battle Corps, currently leading strong Mercenary Corps hired by the Dragon Group, was responsible for issuing tasks and monitoring battle plans.

”This guy is definitely a powerful Wolfman, even with him all wrapped in sealed armor, I can still smell the dog stench on him,”

A blond-haired youth whispered in the team, his vampire bloodline particularly sensitive to the Wolfman’s presence.

”Ignore him, we need to focus on our targets; then we can freely wipe out those Beastmen, each one is a bit of points, I don’t want to waste time.”

A yellow-haired girl’s voice chimed in, along with the sound of blowing bubbles.

Just as the words fell, they abruptly sensed subtle changes on the ground, with a gasp from the perceptive youth as he released his perception.

Around the Beastmen’s fortress, countless White Bone Undead were surging, towering figures with Ghost Fires flickering in their eyes, evidently stronger than ordinary White Bone Undead.

From the originally flat ground, bone claws emerged from the soil, nocturnal cold winds infusing them with renewed energy and breath.

Looming there was a Witch Demon in black robes, releasing their power to summon all creatures that perished on this land to fight for the Dragon Group.

The White Bone Undead converged into a White Bone Army by the thousands, tens of thousands, voicelessly screaming as they charged toward the Beastmen’s fortress.

”Enemy attack,”

The Beastmen were alarmed by the massive tide of skeletons, emitting warning cries and blowing the horns of battle.

Giant Crossbows and Heavy Cannons began targeting this fearless skeletal tide, emitting thunderous sounds.

But they failed to notice numerous Giant Dragons protruding their heads from skies above the clouds, spreading wings and plummeting downwards.

All the Giant Dragons had regrouped except Blue Dragon Akzhi.

As the Beastman Legion Commanders who were resting were awakened by the horn’s sound, they found themselves already surrounded by numerous warriors.

Outside the city, on the main road leading to the Beastman Army, steel-forged cavalry lined the central avenue, their Long Sabers gleaming coldly even the night couldn’t obscure.

The outcome of this battle was long destined; on this night, the Beastman Army’s fortress was broken, with no Beastmen surviving!
