Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 378: Chapter 145: Desolate Realm

”Ha, my fear? I’d like to see what I actually fear!”

Karon powered up his hind legs, gracefully rose upright, and gazed expectantly at the cocoon deep within the mist.

The enormous spiritual body revealed Karon’s transformation during his slumber; his body ratio was evolving towards the most perfect state, not just in appearance, but also in the adaptability of power output.

This made his neck lengthen slightly compared to before; to brew a more explosive Dragon Fire, making its impact flow more intense, his throat organs developed an additional protective layer specifically to safeguard the frequently used throat of the Red Dragon.

Karon understood this Nightmare ability, which initially emerged in the dreams of living beings; these Nightmares possessed the ability to travel through the connection passages between the spiritual domains and the River of Spirit, roaming among the dreams of living beings.

These Nightmares fed on the dream fragments of living beings as their source of sustenance and power, and these dreams also exuded their spirituality, allowing the Nightmares to absorb it.

Some particularly powerful Nightmares, after ingesting enough spirituality to grow, even gained the ability to invade the spiritual domains of living beings through dreams.

However, every living being, within their spiritual domain, is akin to a passive Creator; the subconscious-led spiritual domain of the living being spontaneously repels these invasive Nightmares.

These Nightmares possess a unique ability to manipulate the spirituality of living beings, transforming themselves into the most terrifying enemy within the hearts of the invaded beings.

Under the spiritual domain, the Nightmare transformed into a fearful enemy of the living being would possess the ability to merge with the imagination born from the subconscious fear of the person.

And these Nightmares rely on this ability to make living beings defeat themselves, thereby seizing their Light of Spirit.

By consuming the spiritual power of living beings, ultimately even occupying the nest of the creatures like cuckoo birds, they could walk in the Material World with the real bodies of the spirit-energy-drained living beings.

However, this peculiar creature lacked the ability to reproduce; to have offspring, they must undergo self-division, splitting their power and spirituality, thus rarely making such choices, leading to this race being particularly scarce.

”Ignorant Red Dragon, you will never truly understand the power of the great Nightmare clan,”

The mist rolled, illusory whispers echoed throughout the space like ghostly sounds, the Light of Spirit twisted and transformed within the swirling mist, gradually taking shape.

Rumble, rumble,

A figure stepped out of the mist; it was a creature with a human-like appearance, exceptionally tall compared to ordinary people, wearing brown pants, red clothing, a hideous mask resembling a bone shell revealing a pair of eyes and a mouth.

The strange weapon in this person’s hand continued buzzing like a revolving chainsaw.

”Hahaha, die, Red Dragon, I shall bring you fear’s end,” the Nightmare’s human-formed spiritual body raised the buzzing chainsaw, revealing a cruel smile.

Bang,

Karon’s right limb extended his five Dragon Claws straight, and slapped the Nightmare’s face, sending its mask flying and making the Nightmare spin like a top on the spot.

”I can give you another chance; your ability is rather interesting,” Karon looked down at the Nightmare, whose face was full of disbelief, showing his long fangs and said with interest.

”Something’s wrong, something’s wrong; why would you fear such a weak creature? You are a Dragon, you are a Red Dragon,”

The halted Nightmare roared but involuntarily stepped back two steps, completely unable to sense any unusual power from the creature spawned by Karon’s internal fear, just a slightly bizarre human.

”I feed on your fear, transformed into your fear Nightmare,” the Nightmare roared loudly; its twisted silhouette gradually changed again, manifesting another terrifying form.

This was also a human, wearing a strange white hockey mask, but this time of even greater physique, standing a towering 2.2 meters tall, clad in black farming attire.

A pair of numb, bloodthirsty eyes revealed a desire for destruction of life; the blood-stained machete in its hand held unique powers, unable to be lost or damaged.

”I am immortal, hahaha,” feeling the strange power within, the Nightmare laughed arrogantly, cutting down with the wind-sounding machete.

Clang,

Karon extended a Dragon Claw, gently blocking the machete’s swing, then using his left Dragon Claw to clasp the Nightmare’s head, exerting a little force to crush the Nightmare’s head, like a watermelon shattered by a Heavy Hammer.

”Oh, Jason, it’s been a while,”

Karon smiled as he cleaned the imaginary bloodstains on his palm, gazing at the still-convulsing torso before him and lamented.

The Nightmare’s body vanished with a scream of rage, and in the next moment, transformed anew out of the mist; it became a man with a black top hat, clad in a red-and-green striped sweater.

The face and body scorched by flames were particularly ugly, covered in scars left by burns, emaciated and skeletal, his right hand bearing a sharp iron claw made of metal.

”Oh, God,” Karon showed a terrified expression, unable to help but scream loudly.

”I am the god you speak of, hahahaha!” the Nightmare-formed monster laughed arrogantly, ”You finally allowed me to grasp your weakness, pathetic creature, I relish your soul.”
