Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 371: Chapter 143: Speculation

When Centaur Chiron led the Heavy Armor Corps and Support Corps back to the Royal Capital, it caused a roaring commotion.

At this time, the Royal Capital had already become the most vital and central city of the Dragon Group Territory. Most residents of the Golden City had been relocated here and were continuing to build and strengthen the defenses of this ever-growing city.

Numerous merchants and adventurers from all over were stranded here. The war between the Dragon Group and the Beastman Kingdom blocked the best channel for the Dragon Group to connect with the outside world, trapping these large numbers of people here.

Fortunately, the order of the Dragon Group Territory had long been established, so these people did not have to worry about their lives and property being taken away. They hated the beastmen more than the residents of the Dragon Group Territory.

Because those beastmen not only threatened their safety at any time but also disrupted their money-making plans, which was unforgivable.

Therefore, when these people saw countless beastman skulls nailed to stakes outside the Royal Capital, they all clapped and cheered, their celebration surpassing even that of the territory’s residents.

The already united Golden People prayed loudly to honor the fallen warriors, praying that the spirits of these warriors could find peace in the Giant Dragon Hall at the mountain’s peak.

Together, they praised the blood-soaked returning warriors, praising them as the Divine Lord Gogomola’s long spear, shattering all enemies.

The bells and songs of the Royal Capital rang out at dusk, accompanying the city’s curling smoke, drifting into the mountains.

Meanwhile, a large number of beastman captives were placed in camps outside the city. These beastmen came from various beastman tribes on the plains. Their leaders and power classes were all executed, leaving them leaderless, able only to accept the transformation and exploitation of the Dragon Group Territory.

There were no more brazen troublemakers among these beastman captives. Those who dared to incite the beastmen to resist had their heads hanging on stakes beside the city wall, their hollow, numb eyes bringing the deepest lesson and warning to the beastman captives.

After being reorganized and tamed, these beastmen would be armed in batches to fight with their kind as an advance corps within the territory.

If they were lucky enough to survive, their crimes would be forgiven, and their lives would not be ended. They could ’voluntarily’ become part of the Dragon Group’s legion members and serve, enjoying normal treatment and no longer being considered expendable sacrifice.

There were also quite a few minstrels in the city, some of who were bought by Red Copper Dragon Alfred to specifically engage in propaganda work.

They were responsible for spreading this war’s victory to every corner of the territory, every village and town, allowing all the territory’s people to share in the joy of victory.

Some minstrels traveled here, attracted by the news of the war between beastmen and the Dragon Group, which had spread through ships returning home, luring these curious minstrels to gather material.

There was no doubt about these minstrels’ ability; they could always find various strange ways to sneak into the Dragon Group Territory. After all, the beastmen only blocked large-scale operations at the ports, not the entire Dragon Group Territory.

As the Territorial Law Enforcement Officer, Ocean Dragon Naxson’s tasks were no easier than those on the frontlines. The sudden increase in population made maintaining order more difficult, and the war made the previously adequate guards stretch thin.

Fortunately, the laws issued by the Dragon Group had already begun being accepted by the people, so no big fuss was caused. Ocean Dragon Naxson mainly had to guard against these stranded people, whose numbers had reached nearly twenty thousand, easily sparking various disturbances.

Ocean Dragon Naxson also discovered traces of one or two Bronze Dragons among the minstrels who thrived on chaos. These Bronze Dragons were different from their kin, Alina; they preferred the art of war.

Many Bronze Dragons, due to their love of studying the art of war, sometimes even transformed into soldiers themselves to participate in wars, helping the kind and just side to defeat the evil side.

Although the beastmen, who initiated the war to invade the Dragon Group Territory, were indeed on the evil side, the Land of Gold led by the Five-Colored Evil Dragon was not seen as the just and kind side by these Bronze Dragons.

Thus, they only transformed into minstrels to observe the art of war between both sides, and incidentally, to enjoy some fun.

Blue Dragon Carlette and Green Dragon Ali returned from the battlefield, successively entering a brief slumber. These female dragons did not fall short of their giant dragon blood; they fought fiercely on the battlefield, slaughtering many beastmen.

However, their injuries were relatively severe, especially because the excessive exertion of their bloodline abilities had pushed them to the limit. Only by sleeping could they better and faster restore their state.

And the formidable Centaur Warrior Chiron, after a two-day rest, once again led the remaining over thirteen hundred Heavy Armor Knights and other Beast Knights to set off towards the Golden City.

These Heavy Armor Warriors were the elite of the elite under the Dragon Group, enough to sweep across professional elite legions several times their number on the battlefield. However, facing the numerous Beastman Army, they still lost nearly a third of their warriors.

This was why Chiron was eager to resolve the battle, wanting to support the most important main battlefield. Otherwise, relying on the Dragon Group’s Heavy Cavalry, they could have slowly worn down the vast Beastman Army. In the flat plains, the power of Heavy Cavalry was hard to resist.
