Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 365: Chapter 140: Behemoth (Part 4)

Recently, quite a few adventurers have tried to fish in troubled waters and were hanged on the stumps outside the canyon by the dragon soldiers.

Some particularly skilled adventurers managed to sneak into the gorge, but were frozen into ice sculptures by several White Dragons and placed in front of the treasure vault as toys and reserve food for these White Dragons.

Now, these White Dragons have a new mission. Not only do they need to guard the dragon group’s treasure vault without being summoned, but they also need to protect the safety of a dying young Red Dragon who is about to step into the Divine Kingdom of Hell.

Bronze Dragon Alina, Red Copper Dragon Alfred, and Ocean Dragon Naxson have all arrived here. The body of the young Red Dragon is too heavy, so to avoid it being jolted to death during transport, several Giant Dragons had to quickly and carefully bring it back.

Huff,

A shadow fell from the sky as the enormous body of the adolescent Blue Dragon Akzhi landed beside several Giant Dragons. Seeing the young Red Dragon, whose breath had fallen to the lowest point, the Blue Dragon opened its mouth and spat out a crystal-clear fruit filled with rich life energy.

This was a Life Fruit brought back by Akzhi from his own lair, acquired as a spoil of conquest from the Greenfield Forest Plane.

These fruits are highly potent, and each Giant Dragon hides them in what they consider the safest place—their lair—and seals them with magic.

The fruit was originally intended by Akzhi to be consumed during his own youth stage slumber to enhance his life essence and promote better bloodline growth.

But faced with the dying young Red Dragon, the Blue Dragon, with tremendous willpower, decided to feed the fruit to the Red Dragon who had bled for the dragon group.

”I bet Gomot and Karon would make the same choice at this moment,” Blue Dragon Akzhi looked reluctantly at the fruit in his claw, which emitted a glowing light, his pupils reflecting a gaze of greed and pain.

”He’s about to die, don’t look at it anymore, Akzhi,” Bronze Dragon Alina also had a gaze of greed, but since she shared the same spoils, she wasn’t like Ocean Dragon Naxson, whose dragon saliva was dripping out.

”Anyway, you can apply for compensation from Karon. If you’re really unwilling, you can use mine,” Bronze Dragon Alina said eagerly. Saving this young Red Dragon was the conclusion reached by all the Giant Dragons after discussion.

After this battle, although some Giant Dragons were dissatisfied with the young Red Dragon’s uncontrollability, their recognition of the Red Dragon slightly improved, upgrading it from a disposable tool dragon to a rather useful tool dragon.

Blue Dragon Akzhi sighed reluctantly and still stuffed the life fruit into the young Red Dragon’s mouth, murmuring continuously: ”I must apply for compensation from Karon, Kaidelos, you will also have to work for the dragon group for free for two hundred years after recovery to repay your debt!”

”No, two hundred years is just enough to repay your debt. You also need to add a hundred years as compensation for the mental harm caused to me. I abandoned this extremely precious treasure for you, which truly pains me!”

The young Red Dragon, covered with wounds and holes but slightly relieved under the healing magic, opened its mouth to swallow the fruit. The massive life energy made the Red Dragon slightly invigorated, and he opened his closed eyes.

”Hmph, is the life of a Kaidelos worth only three hundred years?” the young Red Dragon barely lifted its head, stubbornly retorting with a stiff neck.

...

Despite a fierce war, the Beastman Kingdom’s army still numbers nearly eighty thousand. These beastmen have, in the past few days, unloaded all the weaponry and supplies from the ships and have set up camp on the plains outside the Golden City.

Only Beastman Prince Gahn and his elite guard remain stationed on the largest flagship, not stepping ashore even once.

At this moment, Beastman Prince Gahn stood together with his most trusted lieutenant, also his most powerful warrior, Cole, looking into the distance at the tattered Golden City and the Fishmen, still in high spirits despite the blood on them.

”These foolish short-sighted Fishmen, actually stopping our progress out of fear that we’d take their treasure, their brains are truly filled with seawater,”

Powerful Beastman Warrior Cole’s protruding tusks twitched, his eyes filled with contempt and disdain.

”Haha, after all, it’s half a Golden City. If we didn’t have bigger targets, even I would be tempted. The prosperity of the Golden City exceeds my imagination,”

Beastman Prince Gahn leaned on the railing of the deck, looking deeply at the Shahua Fishman camp, where countless exquisite instruments were displayed, along with piles of gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins awaiting the Fishman Prince’s guard’s counting.

”The Flying Dragon Riders keep harassing and damaging our ships, trying to cut off our supply line from the sea. Dragging on like this, our food and supplies will soon be exhausted, without replenishment. Gahn, we should quickly breach this city,”

Beastman Warrior Cole said in a deep voice.

Recently, the Flying Dragon Riders of the Giant Dragons have continuously seized opportunities to attack, sinking and destroying dozens of ships at sea. Fortunately, all supplies have been brought ashore, otherwise, the Beastmen’s losses would have been greater.

”Half of the Golden City won’t satisfy those Fishmen. They will soon have plundered everything. In no more than two days, they’ll begin attacking the walled city. We don’t need to rush. Let these Fishmen test the waters for us. A vast city is most suited for fierce fire. I don’t want the Beastmen to recklessly enter that city,”

The Beastman Prince said with a faint smile.

Fierce fire, a blaze that once caused fires on the sea, burns so intensely that water can’t easily extinguish it, hence it’s called fierce fire by the beastmen.

”Moreover, the corpses of those fishmen can also become our food,” Beastman Gahn said coldly: ”Once those fishmen hit enough snags, they’ll naturally invite us to join the attack,”

”As long as we can swiftly breach the city’s last defenses, we can send back news, and those stingy old men will naturally go all out when they see success,”

”Then we can defend with the Golden City, waiting for reinforcements, or launch a direct attack. The choice is in our hands.”

”Breaking through the last line of defense quickly won’t meet easy resistance. Should we release it to directly crush this line of defense to prevent too many dreams at night?”

Beastman Cole’s gaze shifted to the inside of the huge flagship’s cabin.

The enormous cabin was now opened, revealing a gigantic iron cage occupying two-thirds of the space.

The iron bars of the cage were as thick as pillars, black and solid, carved with dense magic runes, clearly to subdue and pacify the creature within.

The creature inside the cage was enormous, its slow, throbbing heartbeat like the sound of a heavy drum, deep and powerful.

Its tail stood straight like a hemlock tree, muscles as hard as diamond, bones tougher than steel. In Dragon Language and Elvish, it’s called Behemoth, and in Beastman or the common language, its name is—Behemoth!

Beastman Prince Gahn shook his head, ”No, we can’t perfectly control it. It will be my ultimate weapon for slaughtering dragons, also our crucial trump card, not to be released lightly.”

”But I only hope we won’t need to use it; that would mean we are isolated and in danger,” Beastman Prince Gahn stood on the deck, looking at the distant Golden City, and said faintly: ”Then we would become abandoned, with no choice but to stake everything.”
