Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 384: Chapter 146: Overlord-level Creatures (3)

This situation is neither a Five-Color Dragon nor a Giant Dragon!

Even in a kingdom ruled by a Golden Dragon, after the disappearance of the Giant Dragon Lord, his warriors and beloveds would engage in infighting, causing the rule to collapse.

Especially since the Land of Golden has a large number of Five-Colored Evil Dragons, it’s a miracle their brains haven’t been bashed out.

This has piqued the interest of numerous human scholars, who wish to study this incredible fact about the kingdom under the giant dragon’s rule.

As they researched the kingdom ruled by the giant dragons, scholars discovered that the Five-Color Dragons, known for their greed and brutality, were extraordinarily kind to their subjects.

Many nobles also denounced the dragon kingdom as heretical, pointing out that these dragons not only gave those fawning commoners land but also fed them well, with some meat now and then. If this isn’t heresy, what is?

Thinking of the nobles’ rhetoric, the Rangers, who pride themselves as the Golden People, couldn’t help but snort and scorn, wondering how such short-sighted nobles dare mention the sacred and noble Giant Dragons.

Suddenly, the Ranger, caught in a storm of thoughts due to boredom, stopped his restless swinging legs and snapped his long whip, producing a loud crack.

He saw several sneaky people dressed in bizarre outfits; even their hair was uniquely different, some resembling a nest and others tied in strange little braids.

Most importantly, the Ranger sensed the aura of outsiders from the forest’s will, proving these people hadn’t gone through the territory’s checkpoint and registration.

”Hey, you guys over there, sneaking around! Outsiders, state your purpose!” The Ranger shouted loudly. In the forest, he feared no enemy.

Even if he couldn’t defeat them, with the Ranger’s unique talents, he could easily escape with the forest’s help, which made him so bold.

Moreover, his confidence and superiority stemmed from being chosen by the territory. Every selected Ranger was exceptional, backed by the entire territory, fearing nothing. After all, this was his home.

”So, boss, should we take him out directly or capture him to gather information about the nearby situation? He looks like a pretty capable native.”

A blonde-haired girl, chewing gum, acted nonchalantly, but her clothes, adorned with Spiritual Light and emitting a faint aura, indicated her exceptional strength.

A middle-aged man with a calm demeanor shook his head. Among the five of them, he was the most normal – with regular attire, appearance, and a proper posture.

”Didn’t you notice the forest around us showing subtle hostility? Don’t be rash, this mission cost us a lot of effort to obtain, let’s be cautious.”

The middle-aged man admonished his team, squeezing out a stiff smile on his face, and shouted loudly in a strange-accented common language, ”Sorry, we are adventurers from far east, and we got lost here!”

The Ranger eyed their strange dress, but eventually nodded. They did resemble the people from the Far East Continent – black hair and eyes. Even dyed in various colors, he could still tell.

”Go, walk about sixty miles to the left; there’s a checkpoint there. Only after inspection and registration can you move freely within the territory. Otherwise, my companions won’t be as kind as me; they’ll treat you as enemies and send you to the mines for labor reform!”

The Ranger waved his long whip, pointing the peculiar group in the right direction before continuing his patrol through the forest. Meanwhile, a flying bird that lingered by the Ranger’s side quietly flapped its wings and disappeared into the canopy.

”Thank you, thank you!” The middle-aged man thanked the Ranger. After the Ranger walked away and glanced at the dense canopy, he switched to another language.

”Let’s go. The less trouble the better. Once we complete this mission, we can upgrade our abilities. The rewards this time are pretty good. We just need to deal with a young Red Dragon to get five thousand reward points and two C-level side quests. Easy picking!”

”But boss, why not consider the beastmen’s side? Killing the Beastman Prince Gahn offers richer rewards: two B-level side quests plus twenty thousand reward points. Why not go big? This world doesn’t seem that strong, the beastmen we met earlier were too weak.”

A young man with dyed golden hair exhaled smoke, enticing his captain.

”No need. Assassinating the Beastman Prince within the army is too dangerous. Besides, we have the Shadow Stealth Talisman, allowing us to silently infiltrate the Dragon Nest and deal with the Red Dragon. Easy and simple, without being noticed or hindered by the dragon’s followers.”

The middle-aged man shook his head, refusing this suggestion. Then he smiled and said, ”I did research some information about this world. According to certain rules, even a mature Red Dragon would have to struggle hard to lift a van. I wonder what the actual situation is like.”

”Heh heh heh, if they are that weak, maybe we can establish a base here and loot some good stuff!”

Another boy who looked like a high school student with dyed white hair laughed.

But before they could pop the champagne, a heavy notification sounded in their ears.

”The task has changed: Obtain the Blood of Ancestors from the Overlord-level creature, young Red Dragon Karon Gogomola. Reward: Fifty thousand points, two A-level side quests!”

They looked at each other in disbelief, and a heavy atmosphere suddenly rose.

”An Overlord-level creature? What the heck is this!”

A wail echoed through the forest.
