Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 49: Chapter 47: Newly Delivered News

Gu Xi never expected that eating just one pie from them would almost make him miss the steam bus back to the city.

The so-called pigeon pie was clearly the pinnacle of dark cuisine, with live pigeons wrapped in dough and baked in an oven. No one but the Britons could come up with such a method.

With Gu Xi’s stomach already unwell due to hunger over the past few days, the pigeon pie nearly gave him diarrhea.

Additionally, it consumed the little physical strength Gu Xi had managed to replenish. On the way back, Gu Xi lay slumped in his seat, not planning to move at all.

Fortunately, nothing happened along the way. When Gu Xi wobbled into the tavern, the bartender at the counter glanced at him.

”What’s wrong with you? Can you manage the soft dinner tonight?”

”Let’s skip that. Do you have anything that can fill me up? I’m barely holding on.”

Gu Xi said helplessly. Even though he was a Professional, he almost got done in by the food here. It seems Luna’s idea was right; a tavern should be the first thing to build in Yalidu City.

Otherwise, he might turn into an Undead within days.

”Alright, I’ll arrange something. You should drink some sugar water. I won’t have anyone disturb you tonight.”

The bartender said as he prepared a glass of sugar water for Gu Xi.

After gulping it down in one go, Gu Xi returned to his room and collapsed. As for his gains from the day, he wasn’t in the mood to sort them out now.

All he wanted was to take a good rest and replenish his physical strength that had been depleted throughout the journey.

However, in the middle of the night, Gu Xi suddenly felt a stir in his heart. The Shattering Staff swiftly fell into his hand, and a Bone Spike appeared in his left hand, pointed directly at the door.

”Who?”

Upon shouting, Gu Xi noticed a figure at the door.

”I didn’t call for anyone... Is it you?”

Gu Xi was about to say he hadn’t requested any service tonight, only to find that it was the attendant from the Destiny Compass standing at the door.

”Why are you here?”

”Your items. This is the complete file, the transfer contract. Once you sign it, that piece of land will be yours.”

The attendant tossed a package of documents onto Gu Xi’s bed without any expression.

Gu Xi opened the documents and quickly looked through them. He found that, as the attendant said, they were indeed the land title of the ruins at the end of Greenwich Street.

Along with a transfer contract, there was also a legal document. It could be said that once these documents were signed, the land would belong to Gu Xi.

Gu Xi was curious; did the Destiny Compass handle things so urgently, running to someone’s room to deliver items in the dead of night?

Despite his doubts, Gu Xi signed his name on the documents.

After signing the documents, Gu Xi looked up at the attendant.

At this moment, the attendant, with a gloomy face, said, ”Our agreement is fulfilled. Take care of yourself.”

”Wait, can I ask what happened?”

Noticing the attendant’s off expression, Gu Xi quickly called him back.

”It’s nothing, just ran into trouble. The ruins seem like ruins on the surface, but they are actually a complete apartment building. Just warded externally with some repelling magic curses to make it look like ruins. Plus, with the issues between Camden District and Damming Wei District, some people are unwilling to take on this piece of ruins.

In the end, nobody knew that this place had been secretly occupied.

Our people were ambushed several times while handling this, which revealed the real problem.

Now the land title is handed to you. Whether you want to reclaim that apartment building is your business.”

After saying that, the attendant glanced at Gu Xi and snorted heavily before disappearing in front of him.

Gu Xi sensed a hidden message in the attendant’s words, but before he could ask what was going on, the attendant had already disappeared.

At this point, a thought suddenly flashed through Gu Xi’s mind: Could it be that this attendant suffered a loss in that apartment building?

The more Gu Xi thought about it, the more he felt it was possible.

Otherwise, the attendant wouldn’t have explained the situation in such detail. This was clearly telling him that the place he’d chosen had been occupied, and now it legally belonged to him. He had to go and reclaim it.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi felt wide awake. Sitting on the bedside, he seriously considered the situation at hand.

Gu Xi could see the attendant’s strength. Although he didn’t know his Level, it was clear he was definitely a Professional. If someone like him suffered here, the apartment building must be fraught with dangers.

However, backing down in face of danger wasn’t Gu Xi’s habit.

Instead, the present danger sparked determination in him. After considering for a moment, he jumped out of bed, dressed quickly, grabbed his luggage, and headed out.

Descending the stairs, the working bartender merely raised his head to glance at Gu Xi without saying anything.

After leaving the tavern, Gu Xi was planning to head towards Greenwich Street. To his surprise, as soon as he stepped out and looked up, he saw the head hanging on Victoria Bridge emitting a pale yellow glow.

It looked like a giant Oil Lamp had been lit in the middle of the bridge, engulfing the entire structure.

Gu Xi glanced at the bridge and couldn’t help but marvel at the strength of the beheaded brother. For being dead for who knows how many years, he could still emanate such an aura. His prowess during life must have been incredible.

With these thoughts, Gu Xi’s journey wasn’t too dull.

He soon arrived at the ruins at the end of Greenwich Street.

If not for the attendant’s specific explanation, Gu Xi wouldn’t have thought there was an apartment building hidden behind the ruins.

Now, standing before the ruins, Gu Xi had different thoughts.

Whether it was ruins or an apartment building, it now bore the name Gu.

After observing the ruins for a moment, without saying a word, Gu Xi walked towards the ruins.

As Gu Xi approached the ruins, he suddenly felt that he had something else to do.

But Gu Xi immediately realized that it was an attempt to drive him away. Clearly, he was the owner of this land, so why should he leave?

”I’m the owner of this land. This land is mine. Even if the British Empress came, this land would still be mine. I want to see who dares block my path when I’m returning to my own land.”
