Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 48: Chapter 46: Different Mirrors

”I found this in the ruins of a castle, at the time...”

Sorlo wanted to explain the origin of this piece of mirror to Gu Xi, but Gu Xi had already taken the mirror fragment in his hand.

[Dead Magic Mirror (Green): This was originally an all-powerful, all-knowing magic mirror, but it deceived its master, bringing disaster upon them. Before the master’s death, she personally destroyed this deceitful mirror.]

Seeing the information in front of him, Gu Xi was even more surprised.

He initially picked up the mirror piece because the deathly aura from the mirror attracted him.

Gu Xi had seen dead cities but had never seen a dead mirror, so he was somewhat curious.

But he never expected there to be such a story behind this mirror.

”Wait, tell me again where this mirror came from?”

Holding the mirror, Gu Xi interrupted Sorlo’s boasting.

Instead of getting angry, Sorlo quickly replied, ”It was in the ruins of a castle behind those woods over there, the woods where there are many wild boars. It’s said that the woods can’t be mined because of the abundance of wild boars, even though there’s clearly an iron mine.”

As Sorlo spoke, he gestured in a direction.

But the area he indicated was quite large, and Gu Xi followed Sorlo’s finger but couldn’t see anything.

”Alright, I’ll take this mirror fragment.”

”Sure, I’m not going to haggle. I just need thirty-five pounds, or equivalent value in gold or other items.”

That expensive?

Gu Xi frowned, feeling once again that he was quite poor.

However, he flipped his hand and pulled out a piece of mysterious rat hide, asking, ”How about this?”

Sorlo, having found so many special mirrors, naturally had a certain perception of mysterious auras.

The moment Gu Xi took out the mysterious rat hide, Sorlo knew this item was no worse than the mirrors in his coat.

”Alright, but the quantity is not enough. You know, these small hides are hard to sell, I...”

Sorlo was haggling while quickly calculating in his mind. If he could get a few more pieces of such mysterious rat hides, he could upgrade his coat, and the power in those mysterious mirrors he collected wouldn’t dissipate so easily.

But as a businessman, though he wanted them, he still proposed more conditions.

Having wandered around the flea market for so long, Gu Xi was well aware of the prices here.

He knew that items carrying obvious mysterious aura were not cheap in the hands of ordinary people.

”Two pieces of hide at most, take it or leave it.”

Hearing Gu Xi’s tone, Sorlo agreed immediately.

”Alright, two pieces of hide then.”

He seemed afraid that Gu Xi might not want to trade.

Gu Xi felt a bit speechless about the situation; he couldn’t exactly say the kid didn’t know what was valuable or not.

All he could say was that the level of the flea market here was relatively low, with less exposure.

With this, Gu Xi avoided the embarrassment of having no money, and after handing over the two pieces of mysterious rat hide, he also put away the [Dead Magic Mirror].

Then he asked, ”Are there other things in the box?”

”Yes.”

Seeing another opportunity for business, Sorlo hurriedly opened up the bottom of the box.

An additional layer in the box also contained a piece of mirror, but this one was different from the [Dead Magic Mirror]; it exuded a strong mysterious aura.

This aura was much stronger than those in Sorlo’s coat, but Gu Xi could immediately tell that this mirror was essentially no different from the trash in the coat.

[Praying Mysterious Mirror (White): A devotee prayed in front of the mirror every night at midnight, attracting anomalies and mutating the mirror. This mirror can summon a mysterious being not exceeding Level 5 (Note: The summoned being is not controlled by the summoner).]

This item was average at best, not as good as the [Dead Magic Mirror]. Gu Xi glanced at it and said to Sorlo, ”One piece of hide, take it or leave it.”

”Alright, sold!”

Seeing this, Sorlo, realizing this was a big client, quickly passed the [Praying Mysterious Mirror] to Gu Xi, then swiftly opened the third layer.

The third layer also contained a piece of mirror, and as he opened it, Sorlo sighed and said, ”This is the last piece. I have no higher-quality mirrors than this.”

Looking down, Gu Xi found that this piece of mirror was a gilded makeup mirror, also with a mysterious aura.

[Mysterious Rule Mirror (White): A mirror that can have three true or false rules written on it, forming a mysterious field through the rules to kill intruders. For every person killed, a rule can be modified once, max three people (0/3).]

Looking at the information on the makeup mirror, Gu Xi suddenly remembered the mirror wrapped in the luggage on the steam bus earlier.

This Rule Mirror and the one Gu Xi broke were the same type, except this mirror was much smaller, and the number of rules it could write was limited.

It could only write three rules, and Gu Xi believed that these rules certainly couldn’t directly kill people.

There were surely other ways.

”This seems interesting, one piece of hide.”

”No, come on, add a bit more. This thing is really rare. The other two I found myself, but this one I got from a cultist, which was quite dangerous.”

”How about this, I’ll add another piece of hide, but you need to give me ten pounds in cash.”

Gu Xi hesitated for a moment before finally revealing his terms.

Initially, Sorlo didn’t want to agree, but the mysterious rat hide that Gu Xi took out was too important to him. He gritted his teeth in the end, ”Alright, consider this a big loss, we’ll go with it.”

After handing over the mysterious rat hide, Gu Xi didn’t want the lead box; he casually put the three pieces of mirror into his backpack.

Sorlo, on the other hand, gathered together ten pounds from various places and handed it to Gu Xi.

”Thanks!”

With the money secured, Gu Xi felt more confident as he continued to stroll through the flea market.

This time, however, he didn’t encounter another merchant like Sorlo.

After making a few rounds and not discovering anything good, Gu Xi began to have thoughts about returning to the city.

But after looking up at the sky, Gu Xi chose to find a nearby tavern to sit down.

”Do you have any recommendations?”

”Yes, our most famous dish here is pigeon pie!”
