Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 26: Chapter 24: Yalidu City

[Ding! You have gained control of a city (Yalidov)!]

[A player-owned Undead City has been discovered, would you like to lock it as Death City?]

Even though he hadn’t yet seen the information about Yalidov, Gu Xi made a decision immediately.

”Lock it!”

[Lock successful, Death City - Yalidov, to unlock the city, please choose an unlock quest!]

After the information faded, Gu Xi then looked at the map in front of him.

Gu Xi found that the map on the table was mostly a map of Yalidov, with 0.9 square kilometers having turned into Gu Xi’s territory, aside from another third of the city map nearby.

The map uses a black skull with a crown as a marker to show the location of the Assembly Hall, then uses triangles, squares, and pentagons to represent small, medium, and large plots of land.

There are five small plots of land within the 0.9 square kilometers on the map, one of which has been occupied as a well and sewer entrance.

There are three medium-sized plots, one of which has been occupied as a candle factory.

There are two large plots, one of which has been occupied as a church.

Gu Xi noted that when he focused on the plots of land, corresponding hints would be given, such as what functions an occupied plot has, what conditions are needed for activation, or what buildings can be constructed on unoccupied plots, etc.

In addition, at the city’s edge, there are also pathways leading to other cities. Gu Xi counted carefully, and there are five paths, each with a label identifying the corresponding area it leads to.

Each of these paths has a cross on it, indicating that none of these five roads have been cleared yet.

However, from the current situation, it is apparent that as long as the pathways are cleared, other areas of Yalidov City can be occupied.

After reviewing the general layout of the city, Gu Xi glanced at the information at the bottom of the map to get a detailed understanding of Yalidov.

[City Name: Yalidov

City Type: Death City

City Traits: Territory in Dispute (more than half of the city is uncontrolled, the city is susceptible to attacks from enemies in uncontrolled areas, conquering the city will automatically expand city territory)

City Level: Level 1 (9/10, the city possesses one core building and gains 3 experience from large buildings, 2 experience from medium-sized buildings, and 1 experience from small and supporting buildings)

Core Building (1/1): Assembly Hall (provides 500 Negative Energy Points daily)

Large Building (1/2): Church (inactive, requires 20 Skeleton Soldiers stationed for activation, once activated, can be upgraded to an Evil Church, capable of training 20 Skeleton Soldiers weekly)

Medium-sized Building (1/3): Candle Factory (inactive, requires the input of 20 units of strange corpses for activation, once activated, can be upgraded to White Candle Factory, providing 300 Negative Energy Points daily, and 30 units of White Candles weekly)

Small Building (1/5): Well (inactive, requires entry into the sewer and conquering the first street’s sewer for activation, once activated, weekly soldier training quantity increases by 50%)

Supporting Buildings (0/10): None

Garrison Hero: None

Garrison Troops: None]

Gu Xi had learned a bit about the features of various buildings in a city during his schooling.

The term core buildings actually refers to buildings that every city must have. Regardless of the city’s size, the more it levels up, the more slots for new core buildings become available.

From the start, Legislative Assemblies, Magic Towers, Blacksmith Shops, Markets, Barracks, and Warehouses are buildings that no city will lack, regardless of its type.

Large buildings are divided into two categories, one such as troop training camps like the still inactive church here.

The other category includes city-specific large buildings, such as Arenas in Beastman cities or Stables commonly found in Human cities, with Undead cities primarily having buildings like Dark Sky, Tombs, Skeleton Transformation Fields, and Soul Summoning Towers.

Medium-sized buildings mainly focus on resources, with some, like farmlands, fishing points, and mines being common to most cities, while others, like Enchantment Points or slaughterhouses, provide resources specific to certain races, like the Magic Pool in Elf cities or the Vault in Dwarf cities.

Small buildings are those that increase city combat power or military might, including City Walls, Arrow Towers, Lucky Springs, Mana Pools, etc.

Gu Xi’s new skill, the city gate at the beginning of Death City, also qualifies as a small building.

Importantly, the city gate, moat, and the drawbridge on the river are considered three different small buildings.

The final category of supporting buildings is simpler. Things like street lamps by the road or signs on the road all fall into this category. These supporting buildings, as a whole, don’t significantly impact the city but are sorely missed if absent.

Some achievement statues are also counted among supporting buildings. Like core buildings, supporting buildings are not tied to land area but to city level, with each city level increase allowing the construction of 10 more supporting buildings.

Building more supporting buildings is indeed the proper way to upgrade level swiftly.

Of course, Gu Xi is not in a hurry yet. The city is already in his hands, so his priority now is naturally dealing with the city’s security issues.

Gu Xi has already seen that Yalidov is designated as a territory in dispute.

This is understandable for Gu Xi.

The entire city covers 2.9 square kilometers, yet he only controls 0.9 square kilometers, not even a third of it.

The rest of the city remains under enemy control. If this doesn’t qualify as a territory in dispute, then nothing does.

Of the five roads outside the city, three lead to other districts of Yalidov, another one leads to the Mirror Image Underground Palace where Gu Xi and his party came from.

According to the map, this Mirror Image Underground Palace also has a name, Yaliduvi Tower, which is the mirror equivalent of Victoria Tower and also the core controlling the entire Yalidov City.

Capturing this castle would double the speed of all resource activities within the city, including troop training and material production.

Also, when Death City reaches level 17, Battle Fortress deployment will include this castle.

The final road leads out of the city, and Gu Xi is unsure of what lies there, the map only labels it as dangerous.

Considering this, Gu Xi decided to activate the three buildings within his territory first.

And then consider the rest.

Since Yalidov is now in his hands, even if he exits this game, he can freely enter and exit Yalidov. There’s no rush to conquer the other areas yet.

For now, it’s better to address his military strength first.

At this moment, Luna floated in.

”Sir, I have an idea regarding this city.”
