Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 8: Chapter 6: Divergence and Probing

When mentioning the boss behind the Mirror Image Underground Palace, Gu Xi noticed that including Jack, excitement sparkled in their eyes.

Although that boss was deceived, he truly had skills.

James I was the first person to move from the King of Edinburgh to the position of Emperor of Britain.

Back then, although he demanded high, all he sacrificed was just a city as an offering.

If their demands were a bit lower, would the cost be less too?

One could say that the expressions on the faces of people from Victoria City upon hearing they had a chance to find the Mirror Image Underground Palace were like the expressions of Arabs hearing they had a chance to get the Wishing Lamp.

It can be said that everyone couldn’t control their ambition.

The people present were no different.

For such a fleeting dream, they gave up the chance to escape.

They followed Jack and joined the team searching for the Mirror Image Underground Palace.

However, Gu Xi didn’t know how many of them would survive in the end.

Jack didn’t know Gu Xi’s thoughts, and after introducing the Mirror Image Underground Palace, he returned to the topic at the beginning.

”Sir Mage, I obtained precise information from that architect, that opposing Victoria Tower is the Mirror Image Underground Palace with six gates, and it is said that if the six gates are simultaneously opened, the exiled city will return.

To open these gates, a blood sacrifice is needed.

According to each gate’s condition, the blood sacrifice requires the head of an Emperor of Britain and a Queen of Britain, the blood of a British Princess and a British Crown Prince, the life of a British Prince and a Britannian King Consort.

For each gate’s blood sacrifice, one to five thousand ordinary people’s lives and blood are needed.

These ordinary people also have certain requirements.

We belong to the group that accompanies the dead.”

Gu Xi’s eyelid twitched, he figured out why he was brought here.

”Using me as an accompanying sacrifice, they really thought it through, I can’t swallow this anger.”

Hearing Gu Xi’s words, several nearby individuals also nodded in agreement, as they too were brought here in that manner, and no one wanted to be sacrificed and await death.

It’s not just Gu Xi who couldn’t swallow this anger, anyone would feel the same.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi said fiercely, ”This matter isn’t over, they want to open a gate, I’ll make sure they can’t, give me the map, I’ll find a way to destroy this gate.”

”No way!”

Right after Gu Xi spoke, everyone including Jack shouted.

Gu Xi looked at them with confusion, noticing a hint of awkwardness in their eyes.

Then Jack explained to Gu Xi once more, ”Sir Mage, it’s not that I want to stop you from destroying the gate, but because... because this gate wasn’t built by the Mirror Image Underground Palace, but released by the big shot from Victoria Fake City.

Even if you destroy it, a new one will appear, and then the cultists can still perform the blood sacrifice, only another batch of innocent bystanders would die.

Sir Mage, you wouldn’t want some innocent bystanders to die because of you, would you?”

”Innocent bystanders, damn it, I’m the innocent bystander, you consider them, I also need to consider myself, I can’t calm down unless I destroy a gate.”

At this moment, a woman in the corner stood up, when getting up, she brushed her hair behind her ear.

When she walked to Gu Xi’s side, she whispered, ”Sir Mage, we understand your feelings, we also want to retaliate against those cultists, but we must find the right target, right?

Shouldn’t we put our focus on those cultists?”

Gu Xi glanced around at everyone, then laughed disdainfully; seeing the expression of agreement on their faces, Gu Xi knew their thoughts.

These people appeared to have come to retaliate against the cultists, but in truth, they too wanted to gain benefits from the exiled boss.

Greed was written all over their faces.

Such people aren’t worthy of becoming partners.

Their minds weren’t as clear as those civilians who fled as soon as they were released.

Gu Xi shook his head, ”Do as you please, I’ll have my own plans and courses of action, just don’t sabotage my moves, also, I need to rest now, you better keep quiet.”

”Sir Mage, you can’t say that, we’re in the same boat now...”

Before the woman finished speaking, Luna came in front of her, staring into her eyes with hollow ones, rendering her speechless.

”Think more when you open your mouth, consider if you’re capable of handling the situation, if not, then keep your mouth shut.”

Gu Xi’s words made everyone present tremble in fear.

However, Gu Xi didn’t make things difficult for them since after all, they brought him some useful information.

Moreover, they were comrades for now.

So after scaring them a bit, Gu Xi found a place to sit down, closed his eyes, and began to recover his depleted mana.

As soon as Gu Xi closed his eyes, Luna retreated to his side, without looking at the others, but just Luna’s presence made everyone not dare to breathe.

But as time passed, these people started having little schemes.’

Watching Gu Xi clearly asleep, two frail-looking middle-aged men exchanged glances, one stood up slowly approaching Gu Xi, and the other moved on the ground.

They planned for one to attract Luna’s attention, and the other to sneak up on Gu Xi.

In their minds, Mages were weak in close combat, as long as they seized Gu Xi, they could control the situation. Just a rookie mage, it’s not like they hadn’t encountered one before.

They weren’t wrong, being trapped for so long, those not ruthless couldn’t survive.

But little did they expect that Luna, being a Ghost, naturally had a guard skill.

Her body wasn’t material; when the enemy circled behind her, it was actually facing her.

She could never be attacked from behind.

When the middle-aged man got up to pounce on Gu Xi, a tentacle carrying cold qi struck him.

Then the man’s body quickly froze and fell heavily onto the floor.

[Luna (Contracted Undead) has killed a civilian (Level 0), you gain 2 experience points, Contracted Undead gains 4 experience points.]

At this moment, Gu Xi also opened his eyes, glanced at the information, and sighed helplessly.

”Why do you bother? Isn’t it good to live well?”

Seeing Gu Xi stand up, Jack quickly spoke.

”Sir Mage, please don’t be angry, they didn’t mean any harm.”

”Yeah, Sir Mage, we really didn’t know anything.”

”Right, I was asleep just now.”

The others quickly chimed in, seemingly wanting to clear themselves thoroughly.

Gu Xi glanced at them, reached out toward the already dead middle-aged man, and a few light dots landed in his hand.

Then Gu Xi turned his hand, and the light dots transformed into a larger sphere and returned to the middle-aged man’s corpse.

In a series of cracks and pops, the middle-aged man transformed into a skeleton holding nothing.

Pointing at the skeleton standing beside him, Gu Xi calmly said.

”Don’t think it’s me who needs you, now it’s you who need my help, so if you don’t want to die, behave, otherwise I’ll turn you all into Skeleton Soldiers.”
