Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 25: Chapter 23: Mission Accomplished

As the information about the two items flashed before his eyes, Gu Xi’s eyes brightened.

He first picked up the arm, and the moment he held it, he felt a heavy weight in his hand, so much so that with Gu Xi’s strength, he almost couldn’t lift it.

This startled Gu Xi, and he looked down to find that although the arm was pure black and its surface distorted beyond recognition, it was obviously a metal arm.

Judging by the state of the arm, it was a left hand, and at the cut area, he could see some red and green wires writhing.

Clearly, this was a plug-and-play type of arm.

On the deltoid position, there was a very prominent red pentagram mark.

[Ding! You have discovered a task item, and you can activate a temporary task!]

[Temporary Task: The Sealed Power]

[Task Description: Find all components and assemble them into a complete body!]

[Task Requirement: Locate seven sealed components (0/7), assemble and defeat the assembly (0/1)]

[Task Reward: A Contracted Puppet (Level based on average level of retrieved components).]

[Note 1: The sealed components are the head, left hand, right hand, chest, waist, left leg, and right leg.]

[Note 2: Each component has many different parts and effects; please choose the ones you think are most suitable for combination.]

Looking at the task before him, Gu Xi was taken aback for a moment. It’s just seven body parts, so why are there so many choices of different parts?

But he quickly realized that this should be a long-term task, not one that can be completed in this game world alone.

Rather, various components can be found across different games, and only this way could there be multiple choices.

After understanding what was going on, Gu Xi put the arm away. He accepted the task, but finding the sealed components would not be an easy endeavor.

Now was not the time to think about this; Gu Xi’s attention returned to the more than forty remaining skeletons he had survived with.

Upon inspecting the skeletons, Gu Xi was shocked to find out he suffered a heavy loss this time.

Combat Squad 1 was completely wiped out, without leaving even a seed for Gu Xi.

Combat Squad 2 was down to only six skeletons, and Combat Squad 3 had fared a bit better, with 19 skeletons surviving, while Combat Squad 4 had 18 skeletons left.

Among these skeletons, all the Skeleton Warriors were wiped out; only three Skeleton Soldiers survived, and the rest were all level 1 and level 2 skeletons.

One could say that this battle completely shattered Gu Xi’s combat power.

If there were another battle like this, he wouldn’t even need another massive black Deceitful Shadow, just ordinary black Deceitful Shadows from the previous two waves would be enough to overwhelm Gu Xi.

At this moment, Gu Xi couldn’t afford to think about anything else; he needed to handle these skeletons first.

”Quickly gather the battlefield, restack the barricades, and use the Deceitful Energy Pearls to strengthen without worrying about consumption.”

Before Gu Xi finished speaking, a blinding light burst from the two-story building behind him, and then a full moon appeared in the sky, piercing the darkness and shining down onto the ground.

Gu Xi noticed that where the moonlight touched, a not-too-thick layer of frost formed rapidly on the ground, visible to the naked eye.

Simultaneously, Gu Xi sensed the surrounding temperature dropping rapidly, as if suddenly plunged into winter.

Even the fire pit he had specifically lit at the street corner visibly shrank considerably.

Gu Xi straightened up quickly, holding a Mysterious Skull in one hand and a Bone-breaking Wooden Rod in the other, seriously looking toward the two-story building.

However, the Cold Qi did not harm Gu Xi and his men; instead, it continued to expand outward, eventually forming a massive circle with a radius of more than five hundred meters centered on the two-story building.

Within the circle, everything changed.

Inside the circle, the positions and styles of the buildings remained unchanged, but the materials of the buildings and some decorative details had markedly changed.

The originally stone and wooden structured buildings had now turned into a structure of ice and white bone.

Everywhere on the doors and beams, one could see decorations like skulls.

The most striking change was the ground, which had turned into ice. If one scratched away the snow that had begun to accumulate on the ice surface, they could even see the state of the sewer beneath the ice.

”This...”

[Temporary Task: Progress of the Dead City has changed, Assembly Hall transformation complete.]

[Temporary Task: Dead City (Completed)]

[Task Reward: Undead Mage Professional Skill - Death City.]

[Death City Level 1, lock one (0/1) player-owned undead city as the Death City, for training and storing undead corps, and can expend 5 points of mana to open a city gate on the battlefield, through which the undead corps in the city can freely enter and exit the city and battlefield.]

[Note 1: Death City’s level cap is player level +8.]

[Note 2: Death City can only lock one city; other cities are not under its control.]

[Note 3: Skill level corresponds to city level; when the city upgrades, the skill will also upgrade.]

[Note 4: To open a gate on the battlefield, the Death City must first have a gate.]

Upon seeing the newly acquired skill, Gu Xi’s eyes brightened; the task was completed?

Has this city already been conquered?

Just as Gu Xi was getting excited, the doors of the two-story building burst open with a loud bang, and Luna floated out of the building.

Upon seeing Gu Xi, Luna excitedly said, ”Master.”

”What’s the situation?”

”We’ve already captured a third of the city, with a total area of 0.9 square kilometers. The changed area is all ours. Besides this building turning into an Assembly Hall, there are three buildings in the area that have been affected.

One is the church at the southeast corner, one is the candle factory at the northwest corner, and the other is the well over there, which is the entrance to the sewer. Now these three buildings have turned into special buildings.

Both their functions and activation requirements are written on the map.”

Map?

Gu Xi looked through Luna’s image into the building and noted that the ground floor dining room had changed. The various utensils on the dining table had been put away, and a parchment map was pinned to the tabletop with a small knife.

Next to the map was an ink bottle made of a skull, with a quill pen stuck inside.

Gu Xi walked to the map, and before he could discern the information on the map, a ding sounded by his ear.
