Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 29: Chapter 27: Activating Other Buildings

As the situation in the church transformed, Gu Xi found that the Skeleton Soldiers he had placed there actively moved towards the cemetery behind the church.

Gu Xi was puzzled by their behavior and followed them to take a look.

When he followed, he thought these Skeleton Soldiers would be wandering in the cemetery behind the church, but unexpectedly, these Skeleton Soldiers inserted their weapons into the graves, dug out coffins, and buried themselves.

This situation made Gu Xi a bit awkward; clearly, the twenty Skeleton Soldiers in front of him no longer belonged to him.

They were placed in the Evil Church to act as soldier decoys.

Even if the Evil Church was destroyed, they would no longer come out to fight for Gu Xi.

This caused a heavy blow to Gu Xi, who was already short on manpower.

Fortunately, the Evil Church still gave Gu Xi a chance.

The 20 Skeletons meant to be produced this week were sat on the benches in the Evil Church, ready to be recruited with just a word from Gu Xi.

However, Gu Xi currently lacks funds, and he has more important matters to attend to, so he could only say, ”Combat Squad, take out your Deceitful Energy Pearls to upgrade the Skeletons in the squad.

The rest of the forces will have to wait for replenishment until I return.”

The three Skeleton Bosses immediately sprang into action upon hearing him.

Because the Skeletons under them already had enough experience and the Combat Squads were distributed plenty of Deceitful Energy Pearls, they could sustain the consumption required to transform the Skeleton Soldiers.

In no time, all the Skeletons completed their transformation into Skeleton Soldiers.

At the same time, all the Combat Squads were reassembled; the entirely wiped-out Combat Squad 1 was disbanded, and Combat Squad 2 was promoted to Combat Squad 1.

[Combat Squad 1 (Level 1, Unnamed, Traits: Attack +5, Defense +1, Experience 64/200): Leader (1/1) Level 2 Skeleton Boss, Members (3/43) Level 3 Skeleton Soldiers (3)]

[Combat Squad 2 (Level 2, Unnamed, Traits: Attack +4, Life +4, Experience 19/500): Leader (1/1) Level 2 Skeleton Boss, Members (11/38) Level 3 Skeleton Soldiers (11)]

[Combat Squad 3 (Level 1, Unnamed, Traits: Defense +6, Experience 124/200): Leader (1/1) Level 2 Skeleton Boss, Members (9/49) Level 3 Skeleton Soldiers (9)]

Looking at the total of twenty-two Skeleton Soldiers, Gu Xi sighed, realizing it was getting harder to replenish these Combat Squads.

However, Gu Xi wasn’t idle; he still had many tasks to do.

Not to mention having to build a City Gate, there were also two unactivated buildings in the city that needed his attention.

Glancing at the three Combat Squads, ”Everyone, follow me; we are going to the candle factory.”

Luna, who left the Evil Church with Gu Xi, began explaining the situation of the candle factory to him.

”Sir, I’m not sure why the candle factory became a functional building, but from what I saw, only by building the candle factory could Street Lamps be constructed along the road.

With Street Lamps, the training speed of Ghosts in Yalidov City would increase to some extent.”

”Do you mean the candle factory is prepared for the later training of Ghosts?”

”It should be; apart from that, I can’t see any other purpose for the candle factory.”

After hearing this, Gu Xi didn’t know what to say; however, since the candle factory was already built and only needed activation, it was a free gain without additional expenditure for constructing new buildings.

Gu Xi kept his thoughts to himself.

When they arrived at the door of the candle factory, Gu Xi realized it was more of a workshop.

Similar to the Assembly Hall, it was a two-story small building, much smaller than the church. The entire street-facing wall on the first floor was removed, with beast skins hanging by the roadside of the first floor, the waxy yellow fats on them untouched.

Inside the small building was a large pot, boiling something.

Various types of wood were piled up around the pot, and in the distance, there were many dry herbs.

Gu Xi was confused; wasn’t it supposed to be a candle factory, but this place looked more like an abattoir.

In fact, Gu Xi didn’t know that in the Western world, besides a small portion made from beeswax, most candles were made from animal fats.

That is precisely why, to activate the candle factory in front, twenty mysterious corpses are needed.

But now Gu Xi faced an even more daunting problem: he didn’t have a single mysterious creature’s corpse, let alone twenty.

”Luna, do you know where we can find mysterious creatures?”

”I don’t know either.” Luna was equally helpless, ”Why don’t we build the City Gate first, then head to Victoria City and look around?”

Gu Xi recalled the situation in Victoria City.

Wouldn’t Cultists be considered part of the mysterious category?

Left with no choice, Gu Xi had to temporarily abandon the idea of activating the candle factory and prepare to return to build the City Gate.

As Gu Xi began to head back, a sudden glint struck his eyes, ”Luna, look here, does this count as mysterious?”

Luna joined Gu Xi at his pointed location, noticing he was peering through the ice layer of the street, pointing towards the Sewer below.

In the Sewer, a large rat was scurrying swiftly.

Though separated by thick ice, Gu Xi and Luna could see clearly that the rat’s fur was decaying.

Gu Xi and Luna exchanged glances, both realizing something, and without a word, they turned toward the Well and ran.

Looking down from the ice layer, everything belonged to the Sewer underneath.

Of the existing three buildings in Yalidov City now, the Well was the entrance to the Sewer, and activating the Well required clearing the Sewer in the first district.

As Gu Xi ran towards the Well, Luna followed while mobilizing Gu Xi’s Combat Squads.

By the time they arrived at the Well, all three remaining Combat Squads of Gu Xi were in place, waiting for his command.

”Now that everyone is here, I won’t say much; later, Combat Squad 4, oh, now it’s Combat Squad 3, go down first. Once entering the Sewer, ignore everything else, just set up defenses.

Let two Skeleton Soldiers from Combat Squad 2 go down to check the height of the Sewer; if it’s insufficient, Combat Squad 1’s Skeleton Soldiers will be the main combatants.

Alright, what are you waiting for, move now, the goal this time is to clear the entire Sewer.”
