Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 24: Chapter 22: Finally Slain

But Gu Xi still underestimated the combat power of this Deceitful Shadow.

He had only taken two steps forward when the Deceitful Shadow already rushed to the front of the defense line set by Combat Squad 4, directly knocking away five Skeletons blocking its path, and they heavily hit the ground, unable to move.

In response, Combat Squad 3 positioned behind Combat Squad 4 promptly thrust their Long Spears at the sight of the situation.

However, the speed of the Deceitful Shadow was too fast; when all the Long Spears were thrust, although aimed at where the enemy was, only three Long Spears hit the target.

As for the Skeletons from Combat Squads 1 and 2, they hadn’t even charged out yet.

Seeing the Deceitful Shadow rushing directly towards him, Gu Xi immediately understood the other party’s intention.

This was about exploiting the Undead Mage’s weakness and directly killing the Undead Mage.

However, you’ve underestimated the Undead Mage’s strength too much. Who said the Undead Mage could only command Skeletons to charge? An Undead Mage without a variety of skills is not worthy of the name!

I’ll let you know, I’ve trained in Throwing.

Gu Xi raised his hand, and the Bone-breaking Wooden Rod in his hand was directly thrown towards the Deceitful Shadow.

Along with the Bone-breaking Wooden Rod, Gu Xi also threw the five Daggers he always kept with him.

Since it was a frontal throw, the Deceitful Shadow, which was charging ahead, had no intention of Dodging and continued to lunge towards Gu Xi.

But the items Gu Xi threw were no ordinary things; although thrown, the Bone-breaking Wooden Rod’s effect was also activated.

The rod struck the Deceitful Shadow directly, and with a cracking sound, one of the Deceitful Shadow’s femurs was broken.

The forward-charging Deceitful Shadow staggered, its movements noticeably slowed.

At this moment, all five Daggers that Gu Xi threw stabbed into the Deceitful Shadow.

Such an attack didn’t greatly harm the Deceitful Shadow, but it was extremely insulting.

The heads grasped in the Deceitful Shadow’s hands simultaneously let out screams, wanting to leap off the arm and bite Gu Xi.

But Gu Xi was not stupid enough to stay in place after throwing things; as he raised his leg, a large pack of items he had packed earlier was kicked towards the Deceitful Shadow.

As the Deceitful Shadow charged at Gu Xi, it ignored the kicked items, not realizing that it was a bundle of Skeleton bones prepared by Gu Xi’s subordinates.

”Corpse Burst!”

The Deceitful Shadow didn’t expect Gu Xi to use Corpse Burst in such a way and got hit directly during its charge.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Gu Xi quickly retreated towards the battle squads and simultaneously called out Combat Squads 1 and 2 hidden in nearby rooms.

As soon as the two combat squads appeared, they charged towards the Deceitful Shadow from all directions.

Gu Xi realized that in this battle, he must not let the Deceitful Shadow take the initiative.

Therefore, he had to bring all his subordinates to encircle and attack.

When all the combat squads charged out, the Deceitful Shadow turned around and resumed its speed.

At this moment, the Skeleton Soldiers from Combat Squad 1 surprisingly jumped off the roof of nearby buildings and landed on the Deceitful Shadow, heavy Curved Sabers striking down on its back.

This is the special ability of these Skeleton Soldiers, Backstab.

But the Skeleton Soldiers didn’t expect that they landed on the Deceitful Shadow’s back, but the Deceitful Shadow was moving in a reverse arch posture, so they landed on its stomach instead of its back.

Thus, the Skeleton Soldiers not only failed to achieve the Backstab effect but also revealed their plan to the Deceitful Shadow.

This Deceitful Shadow had some skill, pressing one leg against the ground, it quickly spun around, throwing the Skeleton Soldiers off its back.

Fortunately, at this time, the other combat squads from Gu Xi also arrived, quickly surrounding the Deceitful Shadow.

The most numerous Combat Squad 4 squeezed up from all sides, with two Skeletons holding one of the Deceitful Shadow’s legs tightly, preventing it from moving.

Combat Squad 3 also came up, scattering to various positions in the same manner as Combat Squad 4; once positioned, they thrust their Long Spears directly.

At this moment, the Deceitful Shadow turned fierce.

As its body twisted, it continuously wriggled its legs and three heads to Tearing Bite the encircling Skeletons.

Its attacks exceeded Gu Xi’s imagination, killing a Skeleton with each strike.

Seeing this, Gu Xi also went berserk; every time a Skeleton died, he would perform a Corpse Burst on the corpse.

Meanwhile, additional Skeletons quickly surrounded it.

This time, regardless of whether they were Skeleton Bosses, Skeleton Warriors, or Skeleton Soldiers, all charged in to attack at any open position.

Being able to strike a few more times was a profit for the Skeletons.

In this repeated assault, the Deceitful Shadow’s eight legs were all cut or blown off, and two of the three heads held by its arm were destroyed.

Yet, the more cornered it became, the more fiercely it fought.

Even though its body could only wriggle on the ground, every movement was a ramming, Crushing strike at the Skeletons.

The Skeletons also went all out; no matter how the Deceitful Shadow attacked, Combat Squad 4 tightly clamped it down while the rest hacked and stabbed with their weapons.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi, disregarding everything else, performed Corpse Burst every time a Skeleton fell.

Even if it meant exhausting all his Mana, he didn’t care.

After multiple attempts, the Skeletons also understood Gu Xi’s intent. When they were hit by the Deceitful Shadow and felt they wouldn’t make it, they used their last bit of strength to press themselves against the Deceitful Shadow, hoping to act as bombs to blow open its shell.

Until Gu Xi exhausted all his Mana, he ran to pick up the Bone-breaking Wooden Rod he had thrown earlier, ready to fight the Deceitful Shadow hand-to-hand.

But just as he picked up the rod, a ding sounded in his ear.

[You’ve killed the Deceitful Shadow Boss (level 4, BOSS), gaining 117 Experience points. Each participating summoned creature involved in the attack receives 23 Experience points.]

Seeing the messages pop up, Gu Xi’s hand slackened, and the Bone-breaking Wooden Rod fell to the ground.

Simultaneously, the massive Deceitful Shadow’s body exploded on the spot, turning into numerous large and small Deceitful Energy Pearls scattered across the ground.

Among the mass of Deceitful Energy Pearls, a black head and a black arm stood out the most prominently.

Gu Xi glanced around, gathering the remaining forty-odd Skeletons to quickly collect these two items.
