Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 12: Chapter 10: Combat Squad

As the skeletons walked up to Gu Xi, he clearly understood his gains this time.

There were four hundred seventy-three Black Robe Cultists who were blown up, and their souls and bodies all became materials for Gu Xi’s Summoning.

Whether the summoning was successful or not, as long as the Soul Summoning Skill was used, 1 point of experience would be obtained.

In fact, by the time he was summoning the last few bodies, Gu Xi’s Soul Summoning Skill level had already been raised to level 3.

Although it had not yet reached the level of directly summoning the Walking Corpse type of Undead, skeletons could still be played with in many ways.

What’s more, with the newly appeared Skeleton Boss and Skeleton Warrior, it could be said that the skeletons under Gu Xi had started to transform into a legion, and some special skeletons had also appeared.

[Combat Squad 1 (Level 0, Unnamed, Traits: Life +1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Boss, Members (30/30) Level 1 Skeleton (5), Level 0 Skeleton (25)]

[Combat Squad 2 (Level 0, Unnamed, Traits: Attack +1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Boss, Members (35/35) Level 0 Skeleton Warrior (3), Level 1 Skeleton (3), Level 0 Skeleton (29)]

[Combat Squad 3 (Level 0, Unnamed, Traits: Life +1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Boss, Members (28/28) Level 0 Skeleton (28)]

[Combat Squad 4 (Level 0, Unnamed, Traits: Defense +1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Boss, Members (40/40) Level 0 Skeleton Warrior (6), Level 0 Skeleton Shield Guard (3), Level 0 Skeleton (31)]

In addition, there were 43 skeletons not assigned into squads, bringing the total force to 180 Skeleton Soldiers.

The reason these 43 skeletons weren’t organized into squads was not that their attributes were poor, but because Gu Xi had no more Skeleton Bosses to command them.

Compared to Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Bosses were actually hard to find.

Among the Undead under Gu Xi, apart from the ordinary undead, there actually existed two branches.

One path was the Boss direction, capable of leading 25 to 50 of the same kind in battle, depending on the undead’s leadership skills in life.

Following this path, it leads to a hero capable of leading seven squads, and a leader commanding seven heroes.

Through this method, the Undead Mage could easily command an Undead Calamity of over a million undead.

The other path was the Warrior direction, lacking the ability to command the same kind, but with stronger combat power than similar counterparts.

For example, a normal Level 0 Skeleton has Attack 1, Defense 1, Life 10, but a Warrior would achieve Attack 3, Defense 2, Life 20.

Moreover, they could remember their combat techniques from when they were alive, or recall their combat skills, belonging to the category of powerful warriors.

Progressing down this path, they would become Elites, finally evolving into Heroes.

Of course, as in normal circumstances, neither Elites nor Heroes could surpass the Hero and Leader paths.

However, given their combat power, Gu Xi did not underestimate them.

After the 180 skeletons stood in place, Gu Xi glanced at them.

The reinforced skeletons were obviously much stronger than before.

Even if they were Level 0 skeletons, their bones were no longer withered yellow, but regular bone coloration. The bones were also much thicker and seemed more agile.

The weapons in their hands were also clearly upgraded.

The initial combat squad Gu Xi led included skeletons holding a dagger in one hand and a short wooden stick in the other.

After the upgrade, the dagger remained, but the short wooden stick in their right hand transformed into a hand axe.

Gu Xi couldn’t figure out where this hand axe came from, but style-wise, all the hand axes bore a distinctly undead style.

The remaining three combat squads respectively wielded two-handed longswords, long spears, and sword and shield combinations.

The weapons of these troops also became quite standard. Those two-handed longswords and long spears—Gu Xi couldn’t believe they were picked up from corpses.

It was clear that the Undead Domination Skill was quite important for the Undead Mage.

”I’ll think of a way to add more points when I return.”

Gu Xi muttered this and then raised his curved saber, pointing it at the abandoned stone gate in the distance.

The Black Robe Cultists on this route had already been killed by Gu Xi’s Corpse Burst just now, and new Black Robe Cultists had not yet been sent over. Now there were no enemies in front of them.

Gu Xi pointed toward the abandoned stone gate, and the skeletons started moving forward.

Yet, Gu Xi didn’t expect that just as the skeletons were getting started, Jack and his group also rushed in.

They didn’t care about danger, stepping on the flesh and mud left by the appearing skeletons, madly rushing towards the abandoned stone gate.

Looking at their actions, Gu Xi was a bit surprised.

But recalling these people’s previous behavior, Gu Xi understood; they risked their lives staying behind precisely for that legend.

In the face of such a legend, they were indeed reckless.

Hesitating for a moment, Gu Xi still slowed down the undead’s advance.

Unlike these people, Gu Xi’s goal was to destroy this already abandoned stone gate.

Whether there was a so-called false city behind this gate, as Jack and his group mentioned or not, didn’t matter to Gu Xi.

He just wanted to vent his anger at being captured.

Once the stone gate was destroyed, he could find a safe place to leave.

As for Jack and his group’s intention of entering the false city to find a big shot, it had nothing to do with Gu Xi.

Gu Xi slowing down his subordinates was already giving them face.

At most, he would let them try before destroying the gate.

That would fulfill the bonds formed by the information they brought him.

Jack and his group didn’t know Gu Xi’s intentions. After rushing past Gu Xi’s skeleton troops, they accelerated significantly.

They truly feared Gu Xi would destroy the stone gate in an instant, making it challenging to find one of the six gates to the Mirror Image Underground Palace later.

As Jack and his group were about to reach the abandoned stone gate, a voice suddenly came from that direction.

”Don’t come near!”

But Jack and his group didn’t listen; instead of stopping, they sped up, crashing into the stone gate.

The moment they hit the gate, which was clearly abandoned, it suddenly lit up, with a layer of mercury appearing in the middle, resembling a giant mirror standing before everyone.

Jack and his group saw this and indeed thought they found the legendary Mirror Image Underground Palace gate. Without thinking, they rushed in.

The next moment, Gu Xi felt a flash of white light before his eyes, and the surroundings completely changed.

He found himself moved from the underground space to a lawn outside a palace, with a rotted guillotine standing at the end of the lawn, where the abandoned gate used to be.
