His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2197: Chapter 639: One Year Later (16) Office

Mu Yichen’s deep eyes gradually penetrated into Chen Xiaoyi’s eyes; Chen Xiaoyi felt her whole body stiffen, her hands involuntarily entwined forcefully, yet unmoving.

”Hmm!”

After a while, he chuckled quietly.

Chen Xiaoyi felt reborn, and she unconsciously smiled too, a softness mixed with nervousness.

Feng Fanghua observantly watched her son’s behavior, then looked at Chen Xiaoyi, gradually breathing a sigh of relief.

That night, Mu Yichen stayed home for dinner. Although Chen Xiaoyi sat opposite him, she was in a good mood. She often came over for dinner but rarely saw him there. Now that he was back, Chen Xiaoyi wondered if he was willing to give it a try with her.

Any chance she got, Chen Xiaoyi was exceedingly grateful.

——

Qin Mu saw the domestic news a few days later. Mu Yichen and Chen Xiaoyi attended an upper-class party together, dancing gracefully in the ballroom like a perfect couple.

It was the first time she watched him dance so well with another woman in the news.

Qin Mu curled up alone on the office sofa, quietly watching the scene replay on the laptop screen.

Oh right! That girl is called Chen Xiaoyi!

She almost forgot that name.

But what does it matter whether she remembers? As long as he’s happy!

”Qinqin, would you like some coffee?”

As she was enjoying the program in the video alone, suddenly there was a knock on her office door. A male colleague warmly asked her, his smile genuinely sincere.

”No, thanks!”

She smiled, speaking softly.

The male colleague then helped close the door for her, allowing her to continue watching the video quietly, inadvertently reading the text below it countless times.

The weather in Paris was a bit surprising; even before Christmas, a light snow had arrived.

On her way back that evening, Qin Mu witnessed the snow, pure and flawless.

——

Rongcheng, in the afternoon.

Chen Xiaoyi visited Mu Yichen’s office building for the first time. Feng Fanghua brought her along to deliver a love-packed lunch to Mu Yichen.

Xi Meng quickly stood up from her position when she saw Feng Fanghua coming: ”Madam! Miss Chen!”

Since they had previous interactions, Xi Meng and Chen Xiaoyi weren’t unfamiliar with each other.

Chen Xiaoyi politely nodded at her: ”Secretary Xi, long time no see!”

Xi Meng smiled at her.

”Is Yichen inside?”

Seeing that Xi Meng and Chen Xiaoyi got along well, Feng Fanghua asked Xi Meng.

”Yes! He’s in!”

Xi Meng spoke as she walked out to knock on the door for them.

”President Mu, Madam, and Miss Chen are here!”

At the moment Xi Meng knocked and opened the door, Mu Yichen looked up at the people outside.

That call of Madam...

His brows furrowed; however, upon seeing the people in front of him—his mother, Ms. Feng, and Miss Chen—his expression changed abruptly, asking only faintly, ”Why are you two here?”

”Xiaoyi accompanied me shopping, and we passed by a snack street where we saw some pastries you like. Xiaoyi bought some, intending for you to eat them when you got home tonight. I thought they wouldn’t be fresh by then, so I brought her to deliver them to you.”

Feng Fanghua explained calmly, then looked at Chen Xiaoyi.

Chen Xiaoyi carried a beautiful little box and walked forward, stopping in front of his desk: ”They were just made not long ago, give them a try and see if they suit your taste.”

Xi Meng stood at the door for a while, seeing the harmonious scene inside, then closed the door and left. Though she felt regret, she was sad for Qin Mu, but also thought, perhaps this was the final outcome for the couple. After all, both would eventually have other people. That Miss Chen didn’t seem like a tough person, Xi Meng thought, maybe this was just how it was meant to be.

Mu Yichen put down his pen and opened the box. Inside were indeed all his favorite pastries.

He lifted his eyes slightly: ”How did you know I like these pastries?”

”I noticed you didn’t seem to favor sweets much usually, but if you did eat some, it was among these two types.”

Chen Xiaoyi spoke softly; although she didn’t talk much usually, her observation was keen.

Mu Yichen smiled a bit, picked up a piece, and placed it in his mouth, savoring its endless flavor.

Feng Fanghua watched Mu Yichen cooperate with Chen Xiaoyi like that; she couldn’t quite describe how happy it made her, yet something felt slightly amiss.

Chen Xiaoyi was very touched, almost to the point of tears.

He was no longer cold to her; he didn’t stop those stories from getting out, even showing concern by telling her not to mind them. Now he was eating the pastries she bought, Chen Xiaoyi lowered her gaze, but the smile on her face never faded.
