His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2154: Chapter 624: One Year Later (1) Little Devils in Charge

She gave up the family they had built over five years, gave up their pair of children, because giving up was the easiest thing to do.

She threw herself into work wholeheartedly; for a whole year, trophies, applause, and rewards came in an endless stream.

Everything she had once given up in the name of so‑called love, in this one year, she took back one by one into her own hands!

Sometimes, standing on the podium, looking at the people below blessing her, she no longer looked forward to him being there; she felt that her mind was more mature than before, and that this was how she should have lived long ago.

Yang Qin had once written to her studio, but Qin Mu didn’t open it and had someone return it.

Everything had become the past, so why bring up old things again.

As the people involved, their hearts were like clear mirrors.

Mu Yichen did call her on her birthday, but she didn’t answer; as for Mu Yichen’s birthday, she didn’t bother with it at all.

She had made up her mind to cut ties with him. When they divorced, he brought up the children, saying that under no circumstances could the kids be left with a woman who couldn’t even cook, so she simply turned around and walked away.

Countless people cursed her for only giving birth but not raising them, all kinds of ugly words spreading through Rongcheng like fireworks and firecrackers that everyone could hear.

But if she could endure even those vicious words from President Mu, how could she possibly care what outsiders said?

That winter, it hardly stopped snowing in Paris; every day flakes would fall for an hour or so, and she drove along familiar little roads, turning her life into poetry!

——

Rongcheng!

Not far from the JY Fashion Store, at Jingmi Bookstore, Qin Mingzhu and Helian Hao were sprawled over the table, staring at the phone screen on it, sighing nonstop.

On the screen, that woman was sitting in her office being interviewed, wearing an off‑white dress; her long hair was tucked behind her ears, revealing a calm, solemn face.

A year ago, after JY moved back to Rongcheng, they only kept one store in the city. The media went through Qiao Yi to ask Mu Yichen if they could write about his divorce from Qin Mu. He said they could do whatever they wanted, and a year later, they could still see news about her at any time.

Only, every time the paparazzi in Paris snapped photos of her, in every single one, her hands were bare and plain, with not a single ring on them.

A year ago, she had left her ring on the bed they had once slept in, saying a final goodbye.

When she left, she only carried a backpack, as casually as if she were just going to the mall, and then she was gone.

”She sure is living freely, but we’re over here worrying about her all the time!”

Helian Hao muttered under her breath, still sighing again and again.

”Isn’t that the truth! This woman really is cold‑hearted—fine, forget about not wanting her husband, but she even left such an adorable pair of kids. Is she really not afraid that one day Mu Yichen will find those two a stepmother?”

Qin Mingzhu grumbled as well. She missed Qin Mu terribly, but Qin Mu had told her to take good care of the store, to get along well with Wang Huanyu, and not to think about anything else.

Just thinking of Qin Mu’s instructions made her eyes redden.

”It’s all my mom’s fault. Back then she seduced my dad, and that’s what made Qin Mu lose faith in love later. Even I know there’s no way Mu Yichen would ever look twice at someone like Yang Qin, but she just wouldn’t believe it.”

Suddenly, tears slid down Qin Mingzhu’s face.

Helian Hao sat opposite her watching and immediately raised her hand to wipe the tears away. ”What’s with you this past year? You can’t get through two sentences without crying. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you’re a fake Qin Mingzhu!”

”But every time I think of her alone in Paris, I feel awful. It used to be that Dad abandoned her for me, and now she’s the one abandoning herself!”

Looking at the phone, Qin Mingzhu’s tears fell even harder.

Other people all thought Qin Mu was living some glorious, smooth, gentle life, but as her younger sister, how could she not know that it was all just for outsiders to see, that Qin Mu was only deceiving herself.

Qin Mu was even more sentimental than she was; otherwise, how could she, despite how awkward she had felt back then, still reconcile with Qin Haiming.

”Ugh! What good does it do for us to sit here sighing and feeling sorry for her? She herself doesn’t want to come back!”

Helian Hao pondered, thinking she had to come up with a way to get her to return.

”Exactly! You and Xi Meng having a baby was such a big deal and she still wouldn’t come back—what else could possibly get her to come?”

Qin Mingzhu muttered; she, too, wanted to think of some way to bring Qin Mu home.

”At this point, if we lie that Mu Yichen has another woman, she probably won’t care anymore. The only leverage we’ve got left is those two little ones!”
