His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2163: Chapter 627: One Year Later (4) Ties That Still Bind

Who was the first to lose their good mood? They couldn’t even be bothered to mock each other.

Qin Mu later lowered her head, lost in thought, while Mu Yichen raised his eyes to look at her, as if in a dream.

”The things from the past, just about Chengcheng and Huanhuan...”

Qin Mu always stopped short of speaking, feeling like she had no energy against him. At that time, she was blinded by anger, but now, reason had overcome everything, and she felt it wasn’t appropriate for her to come looking for him like this.

”Huanhuan has a piano lesson this afternoon, but the class ends at the usual time. You could go back to the old house to see her. It’s just that Grandpa hasn’t been feeling well and keeps mentioning you.”

Mu Yichen’s calm and steady voice gently reminded her, his eyes still fixed on her watery gaze, unwilling to look away.

”What’s wrong with Grandpa’s health?”

Qin Mu became anxious upon hearing Grandpa wasn’t well, suddenly remembering how he was always weaker in the winter.

”It’s still the old problem, just that his stress tolerance is not as good as it used to be each year.”

Mu Yichen said in a deliberately light-hearted manner.

But Qin Mu only became more worried after hearing that. The elder’s health indeed wouldn’t get better with each passing year.

”If you go back, I’ll call Mom and Dad, and they...”

”No...”

But before Mu Yichen could finish, Qin Mu stopped him.

How could she go back, how could she disturb the elders again?

Mu Yichen looked at her, saying nothing for a long moment.

She refused so clearly.

She must despise that family, right?

Because she thought about the past with him.

Mu Yichen just kept looking at her, while Qin Mu turned away to look elsewhere: ”I’ll take Chengcheng to the store first, we can talk about other things later.”

Qin Mu said, intending to leave.

”You can’t take him away!”

Mu Yichen finally spoke again as Qin Mu reached the door.

Qin Mu turned her head to look at him, puzzled.

”He secretly asked a driver to take him out today. Mom and Dad are worried about him, and if they find out you’re with him, given Mom’s temperament, you know...”

Mu Yichen remained calm, but Qin Mu felt a pang in her heart.

”You don’t have to worry Xiaoyi will treat Chengcheng and Huanhuan badly, I’ll investigate thoroughly when I get back, and give you an explanation. That’s the only thing I can do, what do you think?”

”I don’t need you to explain anything to me. You just need to handle your own matters well. Mu Yichen, I’m afraid if I say more than three sentences, I’ll end up arguing with you, so I must leave now, and I’ll take Chengcheng with me.”

Qin Mu ignored his intention, forcing a smile and saying these words to him before turning away, not stopping again.

Mu Yichen said nothing more, just stood there, listening to Chengcheng call out ”Mom” from outside.

”Let’s go!”

Qin Mu took Chengcheng’s hand.

”Qin Mu!”

Zhao Huai called her. He and Xi Meng had been waiting for her.

Qin Mu raised her eyes slightly: ”It’s your working hours right now, I won’t disturb you. If we have some time later, let’s get together!”

Since she came back, she should meet those old friends who had helped her, including Xiaomei. Though she had been in Paris for so long, Xiaomei was actually the friend she was most concerned about.

That girl always sounded insincere every time she called, no one knew what was on her mind.

”Then tonight, let’s meet at AM, and call Xiaomei and Old Qin. They’re all worried about you.”

Zhao Huai said.

Qin Mu nodded, raising her hand to touch Xi Meng’s hand, noticing the guilty look in Xi Meng’s eyes, almost crying, she smiled and said, ”Silly, see you tonight!”

Xi Meng nodded but didn’t utter a single word.

After Qin Mu took Chengcheng and entered the elevator, tears finally fell down Xi Meng’s face, and Zhao Huai couldn’t help but say, ”Why do you always feel so guilty when she didn’t even blame you or your husband?”

”You’re a man, what would you understand about these things?”

Xi Meng said in tears, yet also smiling, softly to him.

Zhao Huai...

Alright, it seems women really love saying this, you’re a man, how could you understand these things.

As Qin Mu and Chengcheng were about to reach the first floor, Chengcheng asked her, ”Mom, where are we going now? Are we going home?”

”Mom is going to the city center first, I haven’t had breakfast yet and I’m a little hungry, can you keep Mom company for a bit?”

Qin Mu gently asked him.

”Okay! But it’s already noon, how about I treat Mom to lunch?”

Chengcheng said proudly, tilting his head, looking as if he had lots of money.

”You’re treating me, huh? Who gave you the money?”

”That bad woman, she told me to buy something delicious for myself and gave me a card. Grandpa Li said it has fifty thousand on it.”
