His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2196: Chapter 638: One Year Later (15) You Can Still Come to Me If You Need Anything_3

Mu Yichen leaned on the sofa for a while, feeling a bit melancholy as he stood to grab the cigarette pack on the table, but his hand stopped just as he reached the cigarette.

The image of Qin Mu smoking suddenly flashed in his mind, and Mu Yichen’s hand loosened unexpectedly, the cigarette falling perfectly back into its original position.

In the deep black of night, in a silent space, one person slowly sunk into the sofa, with a light sigh carrying a sense of heartache.

——

The next day, the weather was cold and gloomy.

The office building, at the top, was shrouded in a layer of cold mist.

At this moment, within the high-level meeting room, the temperature was below minus forty degrees.

The usually bossy executives, each with their own temper in front of subordinates, now hung their heads, long faces like it was the end of the world.

At the front, the face of their boss, Mu Yichen, was the primary cause of all this.

Zhao Huai idly sat on the side, observing the faces around him, clearing his throat slightly to give the office’s thin ice a cracking trace.

”Why don’t we do this, everyone goes back to re-discuss and research thoroughly, and bring some dependable proposals by the end of work today!”

Zhao Huai proposed in a moderate tone.

The executives around welcomed this suggestion with relief, eagerly agreeing, saying that Zhao Huai had a good point, and they’ll discuss it.

”If you need to discuss, do it here. If no acceptable proposal is presented today, then you will stay here overnight.”

Mu Yichen suddenly said.

The surrounding air condensed once more, that thin ice that was about to crack was frozen even more solid, everyone abruptly fell silent, quietly, as someone’s pen dropped to the ground, making an extraordinarily loud noise.

Mu Yichen stood up, left the meeting room with a cold face.

Zhao Huai glanced at the colleagues around him, smiled helplessly, then quickly stood and followed.

When Mu Yichen returned to his top-floor office, Xi Meng was on the phone with a client, and upon seeing his iceberg-like face, couldn’t help but become cautious, relaxing slightly when Zhao Huai caught up.

Zhao Huai stopped, turned towards Xi Meng.

”What’s going on?”

Xi Meng asked Zhao Huai softly after finishing her call.

”Ah! Brother Chen is frustrated in love, so we have to be careful upstairs in the office.”

Zhao Huai sighed helplessly, responding to her in a low voice.

Actually, it was nothing much, just Brother Chen’s mood was bad today, so the executives had to suffer, but Zhao Huai thought it wasn’t a big deal, those people were usually so pompous, it was time for them to get a little chastise, though he himself was walking on thin ice, which was a little inconvenient.

”Did Qin Mu really leave?”

Xi Meng asked him again softly.

”I heard Brother Chen personally took her to the airport this time, really can’t understand what he wants to do.”

Zhao Huai shook his head, said a few more things to Xi Meng before going into Mu Yichen’s office.

Xi Meng sat back down with a sigh of her own, thinking, she really didn’t know when this would end for the couple, they as subordinates really had to be careful.

”Are we really going to cooperate with the Dong Family?”

Zhao Huai asked Mu Yichen after entering the office.

”Cooperation is impossible, but we still need to keep up appearances.”

Mu Yichen replied, finally lighting a cigarette and taking a deep drag.

Zhao Huai sighed on the sofa, then looked at Mu Yichen, who seemed a little exhausted, and asked, ”Didn’t sleep well last night?”

Mu Yichen glanced up lightly, with a faint smile.

Zhao Huai also smiled, seeming to find the topic a bit ambiguous.

”I thought, with Qin Mu gone, you might be unhappy!”

”Zhao Huai, no matter how good the feelings are, there’s always a day it ends, do you believe it?”

Mu Yichen wasn’t angry, took a long drag of his cigarette, and after exhaling the silver smoke, asked him with melancholy.

”Actually, not necessarily, your parents are a good example, aren’t they?”

Zhao Huai thought for a moment, realizing using others as an example was inappropriate, as Mu Yichen had examples around him.

Mu Yichen let out a brief laugh, lightly scratching his forehead with his cigarette-holding fingers, then took another puff.

”Brother Chen, are you really going to end things with Qin Mu just like that?”

”What else can I do if not end it?”

Mu Yichen instantly recalled the scene of her crying her heart out, truly not daring, because seeing her like that, it was as if his own organs and guts were being torn apart too.

”...”

Zhao Huai didn’t speak for a long time, because looking at Mu Yichen’s expression, kept feeling he was serious.

After Zhao Huai went out, he found Xi Meng again, couldn’t help mumbling, ”Why do I feel like Brother Chen is serious this time, he might really end things with Qin Mu.”

Xi Meng...

”Do you think those two, will they go back to being just a bit awkward for a while and then suddenly make up like before?”

”But it’s been a year already, even the times before when they were apart for more than half a year, the boss used to find excuses to go to Paris, this time...”

Xi Meng suddenly frowned as well, unavoidably worried.

They all witnessed Mu Yichen and Qin Mu’s relationship over the years, hoping more than anyone for them to be well together, but the current situation...

”I heard the boss’s mother really likes that Miss Chen, and that Miss Chen seems to have a good impression of the boss as well.”

Xi Meng always thought about whether to find a way to help them reconcile, but this time it’s extraordinarily difficult.

”Chen Xiaoyi is the daughter of J Bank’s Asia-Pacific Region board member, the aunt must have taken a liking to her background, but it depends on Brother Chen’s decision.”

Zhao Huai also felt helpless this time, as if they were powerless, hearing from Jing Feng, Qin Mu seemed resolute to not return this time, so they could only watch Mu Yichen.

After all, Mu Yichen pursued for so many years, this time, he should still pursue, right?

If he were to give up, then as friends, they shouldn’t bring up what shouldn’t be mentioned in his presence, after all, life must go on, and they also hoped he could live happily.

——

A week later in the evening, Mu Yichen finally returned home, Feng Fanghua was just chatting with Chen Xiaoyi, hearing the servant call for the young master excitedly looking outside, seeing him, couldn’t help but smile excitedly, ”You still remember to come home, huh?”

Mu Yichen didn’t say anything, just gave a light smile, walked over and casually sat diagonally across from her and Chen Xiaoyi.

Chen Xiaoyi was very excited to see him too, with a heart nearly jumping out of her chest, but she held herself back, ”Young Chen, long time no see!”
