His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2179: Chapter 632: One Year Later (9) Dad Took You to See It Specially_2

In the blink of an eye, she saw Mu Yichen looking at her; their eyes met, each harboring their own thoughts. Qin Mu took Chengcheng by the hand and got back into the car, this time sitting together with him.

Mu Yichen didn’t ask her to sit in the front. On the way, Chengcheng asked Qin Mu, ”Mom, can I skip school today? I want to be with you. Are you going to be with Dad, or are you going to find Aunt Mingzhu?”

”Mom will go to your Aunt Mingzhu’s place then!”

Qin Mu really couldn’t bring herself to say anything else that would hurt the child, so she answered him softly.

The person driving in front hadn’t said a word the whole time, as if at this moment he was just a dutiful, conscientious chauffeur.

Blue sky, white clouds—everything here was just like last year, except...

After dropping Chengcheng off at kindergarten, Chengcheng’s teacher pulled Qin Mu aside for a quick chat and wouldn’t let her go until she got her autograph. Qin Mu then got back into Mu Yichen’s car and politely sat down beside him.

But when the car really started heading toward the city center, Qin Mu felt a bit helpless.

He still refused to bring up anything about Huanhuan and Chengcheng with her. In fact, all he had to do was give her a little reassurance, but he didn’t seem to have any intention of doing that.

The car soon pulled up in front of the bookstore and stopped.

But Qin Mu didn’t get out, and Mu Yichen didn’t urge her either. The two of them just dragged it out in the car like that.

Inside the bookstore, a few people curiously peered out the window. Qin Mingzhu’s big, dark eyes in particular were fixed on the car outside, unwilling to look away for even a second, afraid she might miss something. Yet she honestly couldn’t hear or see anything, which made her anxious.

”Forget it!”

Qin Mu thought for a moment, suddenly sighed, then unbuckled her seat belt, ready to get out of the car.

”Forget what?”

Mu Yichen didn’t stop her; his eyes were half narrowed, holding a trace of ruthless detachment as he asked her calmly.

He finally opened his mouth, so Qin Mu turned her head to look at him. ”You must have already seen the letter I wrote yesterday, but you refuse to give me any response. All the way here, you also wouldn’t say anything to me. So I can only forget about everything! Even if those two little ones are being wronged in the Mu Family, with their grandparents there, they can’t really be wronged too much, so... just forget it! I’ll go back to Paris today, and...”

She was just about to say ”goodbye” when the car suddenly lurched forward again and very quickly changed direction.

The people in the shop window couldn’t help straightening up, their line of sight stretching out, but in the end they still couldn’t see anything.

Inside the car, Qin Mu looked at him in surprise. ”Where are you taking me?”

”Home.”

He answered icily, but the car was moving very fast.

”Home?”

Qin Mu was puzzled.

”Didn’t you say you want to leave? Then take every single thing in the house that belongs to you with you. Don’t leave a single piece behind!”

Mu Yichen’s voice gradually took on a slightly extreme edge.

Qin Mu was stunned. What would she even do with all that stuff?

”I don’t need it!”

Qin Mu refused stubbornly.

”You may not need it, but then I’ll have to think you’re doing it on purpose. You’re the one leaving, so why are you leaving all those things at home for me to look at day and night?”

Mu Yichen suddenly hit the brakes. In the next second, his cold, venomous gaze, as if it wanted to stab her to death, bore straight into her as he questioned her.

Qin Mu’s heart was pounding like firecrackers going off, and for a long moment she couldn’t get a word out.

”Can’t say anything? Let me tell you—what you want is for me to see things and think of the person, so I won’t be able to forget you too quickly. You want me to remember forever that I made you lose faith in marriage, that I’m a useless man.”

”I...”

”No need to deny it. My eyes see everything loud and clear.”

”You...”

”Since you’re leaving, then take all those things with you. Once you’ve cleaned everything out, you can go.”

Mu Yichen started the car again. As he said this, his temper was already gone; what remained was just deep repression.

And Qin Mu still couldn’t say anything.

Their separation last year...

No, they hadn’t actually separated last year. The day she left, he’d been at work.

”Why aren’t you talking?”

Seeing that they had already left the city center and Qin Mu hadn’t refuted a single word, it was actually Mu Yichen who suddenly spoke again, bringing a bit of warmth back to the previously icy car.

Qin Mu kept looking out the window. What else was there for her to say? Hadn’t he already passed judgment on her?

She had no intention of appealing, so there was nothing for her to say.

”Say what?”

At this moment, her voice was a little hoarse; she’d been hurt.

When she woke up this morning, she’d actually been grateful—grateful that he had carried her back to their bed to sleep, grateful that he still kept her things. But now, she only felt she’d been overthinking everything.
