His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2177: Chapter 631: One Year Later (8) No Sneaking Away_3

A little past eleven, she lay on the edge of the bed, falling into a drowsy sleep, only feeling as if her body suddenly lifted, groggily realizing she was being carried, but not knowing where to.

Later, she wasn’t sure on which bed she was placed, only that she slept very soundly.

In the quiet of the night, someone quietly went downstairs, lying on the living room sofa, holding a simple pillow, unwilling to close their eyes for a long time.

Early the next morning, the maid found someone lying on the sofa while cleaning, and although worried, they carefully cleaned around without waking him.

It was Feng Fanghua who, upon seeing her son sleeping on the sofa when she came downstairs, frowned and quietly asked the person wiping the stair railing beside her: ”What’s going on?”

”The young mistress is sleeping in the room!”

The maid whispered to Feng Fanghua.

”This silly boy, really...”

Feng Fanghua felt both love and hate, filled with helplessness. If it weren’t for Mu Yichen’s sake, Qin Mu would have been too ashamed to stay at home last night.

But Mu Yichen kept looking at her, signaling her to say no more. After thinking it over, Feng Fanghua suppressed her thoughts.

In truth, she had a lot to criticize Qin Mu about, it could go on for days without end.

”Madam, are you really going to ask the young master to attend Miss Chen’s birthday party?”

Sister Wang felt uneasy after Feng Fanghua mentioned it last night, considering Qin Mu was still living at home.

”What I say is my business, whether he goes or not is his business!”

Feng Fanghua replied softly, watching as the person on the sofa slowly sat up, his jacket falling, revealing his weary face.

Perhaps feeling cold from sleeping in the living room, Mu Yichen rubbed his temples, gained some clarity, put on his jacket, glanced at his watch, it was only half past six. Everyone was up early as usual, only upstairs...

”I have something to go out for!”

Mu Yichen said indifferently, leaving before Feng Fanghua and the maid could react.

”Hey! What do you have to do so early?”

Feng Fanghua was immediately displeased, feeling her son was doing it on purpose.

But in the morning, without changing clothes or freshening up, where could he be going?

”Is the young master avoiding the young mistress?”

The maid asked Feng Fanghua after he left.

”How should I know what he’s up to? Bringing someone back only to leave this mess unattended.”

Feng Fanghua muttered angrily, feeling powerless.

All her life, only for this pair of children.

When Qin Mu woke up, she felt a bit dizzy. More importantly, opening her eyes, she found herself in a place both unfamiliar and incredibly familiar.

Why was she in this room?

Qin Mu instinctively sat up quickly, coming to a fast realization.

Yet looking around, there was no sign of Mu Yichen. She didn’t know why, but she felt a sense of relief mixed with confusion.

It should indeed be Mu Yichen who carried her in, but where did he go?

Last night, falling asleep groggily in her son’s room, she later felt as if someone picked her up, and then she was dead asleep.

Strangely enough, since when did she sleep so soundly?

Looking around, the furnishings were exactly the same as a year ago.

Even next to her were the photos they took together. Qin Mu sat beside, picking up the photo frame in her hand, looking at the two people in it, who once were so good together, yet...

Time, truly a bloodless knife, secretly extracting the emotions of a loving couple, making them ruthlessly fling each other away, leaving no trace to find each other.

After getting up, Qin Mu went to the bathroom, the toiletries seemed newly placed, very clean, very new, the kind of things Mu Yichen indeed would do. Without further thought, she freshened up, then went to her son’s room.

The two little ones weren’t up yet, Chengcheng hugging Huanhuan’s foot, sleeping soundly.

Qin Mu walked over, touched Chengcheng’s forehead, reassured, then wondered how to say goodbye to this pair of siblings.

Reasonably, they’re both understanding kids, but after all, they’re just children.

”Mom!”

Huanhuan opened her eyes and seeing Qin Mu still there, felt a soft, warm emotion, her voice turning tender.

”Hmm! You’re awake!”

Qin Mu smiled and spoke to her.

”Hmm!”

Huanhuan responded, wanting to move but feeling her foot trapped, unpleasantly shifted slightly, realizing something, sat up, seeing her brother holding her foot, unconsciously frowning: ”Mu Chengyang, does my foot smell good?”

Speaking, she deliberately placed her toe on Chengcheng’s mouth.

Chengcheng also woke, opening his eyes to see his sister’s toenails, immediately jumping back: ”Mu Chenghuan, why are you putting your foot on my mouth?”

”Ha! You were the one hugging my foot in your sleep! You’re so disgusting!”

Huanhuan retorted, unwilling to accept it.

”You’re the disgusting one!”

The siblings started arguing in less than a minute, and Qin Mu, suddenly finding her ears aching, also felt nostalgic.

”Mom, you look so nice today!”

As the three of them freshened up and went downstairs, Huanhuan held Qin Mu’s hand and complimented her.

Qin Mu smiled: ”Really?”

They’re last year’s clothes, could they really look nice?

Perhaps it was because they were familiar.

Today the two little ones were in particularly good spirits, bouncing down the stairs, and eating a hearty breakfast.

However, while eating, looking at the empty seat where their dad would sit, Huanhuan couldn’t help but curiously ask her grandmother: ”Grandma, where’s Dad?”

”He said early this morning he had something to do and went out. I also want to know why he’s not here.”

Feng Fanghua replied a bit helplessly, thinking, finally having him back just for him to run off again, if he can’t stay later it can hardly be blamed on me.

——

Chengcheng had recovered from his fever, so both siblings were to go to school this morning, but neither wanted to leave. Qin Mu thought, since that’s the case, she might as well take them herself, perfect for saying goodbye outside, avoiding awkwardness at the Mu Family home.

”How about I personally take you both to school, okay?”

Qin Mu asked them.

”Yeah! But Mom, will you secretly leave?”

Huanhuan asked naive, appearing innocent.

”Of course not!”

Qin Mu said with a smile, then holding Huanhuan and Chengcheng’s hands, looked at Feng Fanghua: ”Mom, may I take them to school?”

”How do I know you’re not planning to take my grandchildren and run off to Paris? No way!”

Feng Fanghua coldly answered.

Qin Mu hesitated, feeling no explanation would suffice, but before two minutes had passed, Mu Yichen suddenly returned.
