His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2184: Chapter 634: One Year Later (11)

The two of them sat down at the best spot by the window to enjoy the view.

Qin Mu glanced at the empty seat next to her and asked, ”What are those two siblings up to?”

”You don’t need to worry about them getting lost here; in the past year, they probably know this place better than you do.”

Mu Yichen gazed intently, leaning deep into his chair.

Qin Mu raised her eyes and saw a waiter with a towel retrieving a bottle of red wine from the ice bucket, pouring it into their glasses one after the other.

”Young Master Yichen, Young Mistress, please enjoy.”

After the staff member stepped back, the piano music continued. The melody softened, and Qin Mu’s mood improved along with the tune.

”I’m not worried about them getting lost!”

Qin Mu thought, judging by their earlier behavior, they were probably up to no good.

Mu Yichen likely noticed as well, but he condoned it, making Qin Mu curious about his intentions. Was he really fooling that Miss Chen, who seemed so quiet and gentle?

They just delivered the wine but didn’t even say happy birthday.

Mu Yichen looked at her through two red wine glasses, half-squinting to see her clearly. Under the soft yet romantic lighting, her face appeared even more exquisite. This year, her facial contours had indeed become sharper. Just for an advertisement, was it really worth it?

The appetizers were already served, and the two youngsters had yet to return. Mu Yichen seemed in no hurry, so Qin Mu didn’t overthink it and picked up her spoon to have some soup.

Mu Yichen suddenly raised his wine glass towards her.

Qin Mu looked at him questioningly, and when she couldn’t discern anything from his eyes, she lifted her glass as well.

Since there was no one else in the several hundred-square-meter restaurant, even the sound of the glasses clinking was crisp and pleasant.

They both cooperatively tasted the wine in their glasses, realizing it tasted different from what was given to Miss Chen. Qin Mu glanced at the wine in the ice bucket again.

Hehe!

She could only say Mu Yichen still had some conscience, offering her such expensive wine.

”When is Jian Yan planning to return to Paris?”

Mu Yichen asked casually.

”Who says he hasn’t returned? He just went quietly, and nobody knew.”

Qin Mu started chatting with him, putting down her wine glass and leaning back into her chair, much like him, with a demeanor fitting of equals.

Mu Yichen’s dark eyes gazed at her, sharp as ever.

When Qin Mu noticed him catching her glance, she looked away, out the window. The starry night wasn’t suitable for a pair who maintained such tensions.

”So, only you knew about his return!”

Mu Yichen suddenly laughed lightly, a soft laugh, not more or less, carrying a touch of jealousy.

Qin Mu’s heartstrings were tugged slightly, unsure of his meaning.

Still, if he were jealous, she could understand.

But thinking about how much she understood made her angry sometimes, wishing she didn’t know so much. Overthinking was exhausting.

With that thought, she picked up her wine glass again. This time, she downed her glass in one go.

The staff, observing from afar and wanting to approach, stopped when Mu Yichen leaned slightly to fetch the bottle from the ice bucket, deciding to wait and watch from a distance.

After finishing her wine, Qin Mu held the base of the glass, watching Mu Yichen fill it again. Suddenly feeling a little dizzy, she turned her eyes to the window, uncertain about where she would stay tonight.

Oh well, after drinking, she would send the three of them off, then book a room upstairs for herself to avoid bothering anyone further.

However, visiting Helian Hao’s daughter tomorrow was necessary.

As she contemplated her night and the following day, Mu Yichen watched her from his chair. Neither of them spoke again until after half an hour when the siblings finally returned, allowing the family of four to dine busily.

Qin Mu later realized the bottle of red wine was finished in their silent communication.

When it was time to leave, Qin Mu felt a bit dizzy, her steps light.

Huanhuan and Chengcheng suddenly stopped them from going downstairs, telling them at the door, ”The teacher said you can’t drive after drinking.”

”So, Mom and Dad, can we stay here?”

The two little ones loved staying in hotels.

Mu Yichen looked up at Qin Mu, causing her heart to tremble slightly.

”The hotel staff will escort you back.”

Qin Mu spoke to the children.

Mu Yichen then turned his head to look at the staff standing nearby, waiting to send them off: ”Can you ask?”

The staff immediately walked a bit further away to ask, and returned in less than thirty seconds: ”Young Master Chen, the current time is exactly during rush hour, and all of the hotel’s drivers are out.”

Mu Yichen instinctively looked at Qin Mu again, as if seeking her approval.

”Then let’s wait! They will eventually come back.”

Qin Mu said softly, not wanting tonight to end up like last night.

”Madam, you should listen to the little lord and little lady. Recently, our hotel has been experiencing high guest traffic, and tonight Young Master Chen has booked this place to ensure you have a quiet dinner. Those who had reserved tables earlier have been moved to the temporary restaurant upstairs by President Mu, who also promised to send them home...”

The staff patiently explained to Qin Mu.

But Qin Mu found it irritating and chaotic, yet was unable to vent her frustration, so she said nothing further.

But who asked him to do all this?

Does she need the place cleared for a meal?

When Qin Mu reached the top floor, she was both irritated and had a headache as she took care of the two little ones, bathed them, and put them to bed. As she left the room, she was already a bit dizzy and disoriented, unable to recognize people clearly.

Qin Mu almost suspected her eyes were having problems, and subconsciously raised her hand to tap her forehead.

Mu Yichen stood beside her with a squinted eye, somewhat displeased as he looked at her: ”What’s going on with you?”

Qin Mu slightly turned to him and said, ”A bit dizzy, but it’s nothing!”

The night deepened, and the curtains quietly lowered.

Mu Yichen thought, he might really be drunk.

He always has that illusion that he shouldn’t have.

She still needs him!

——

The sky gradually turned pale, revealing light, and vehicles began to drive slowly on the street.

In the hotel, regardless of the time, people were always coming and going. Some had just arrived to check in at the service desk, while others were being guided upstairs by staff to find rooms where they could rest.

Some others had packed early to leave, and the staff had promptly prepared vehicles for them.

After eight o’clock in the morning, when she got up again and rushed out, the staff informed her that Mu Yichen had already gone to work, and Huanhuan and Chengcheng had gone to school.

They had been apart for so long, how could this happen again?

”Qin Mu, think of it as two adults’ moment of happiness, don’t dwell on it, yes, don’t dwell on it!”

Helian Hao had been waiting for her to meet up, so she was already waiting at the Jing Family’s old residence. Now Helian Hao and Jing Feng had also moved back to the Jing Family’s old residence to live with the elders, though the elders had become less involved in their affairs.

Qin Mu brought toys, and when the little girl saw her, she happily took the toys and kept smiling at her, making Qin Mu also smile uncontrollably.

Helian Hao stood by, watched, and couldn’t help but sigh: ”I knew from the beginning you wouldn’t be able to leave!”

Qin Mu then withdrew her gaze to look at her.

”Did you think that coming back would be easy, and leaving would be easy too?”

Helian Hao asked her another question.

Qin Mu was a bit confused by her words but suddenly remembered something and curiously asked: ”Did Mu Yichen get you to trick me into coming back?”

”Uh! That’s certainly not the case! It was really your son who came to find me and Mingzhu, telling us he was getting abused.”

Helian Hao was stunned and then immediately clarified.

Qin Mu looked at her for a long while, making Helian Hao feel somewhat guilty, as she sat beside her with her dress lifted and kept explaining: ”I mean, regardless of why you danced back here, once you set foot in Rongcheng, Mu Yichen definitely won’t let you go easily again.”

Helian Hao’s explanation was clear, and Qin Mu naturally understood it well.

”Alas! Jing Feng was right; you really won’t go far!”

Helian Hao, seeing Qin Mu suddenly fall silent, couldn’t help but sigh again and say to her.

”What do you mean I won’t go far?”

Qin Mu hugged Helian Hao’s daughter onto her lap, and the little girl obediently sat quietly on her lap for a while.

”Even if you truly can sever ties with Mu Yichen and be worlds apart, Chengcheng and Huanhuan are still with him! Now I understand why last year Mu Yichen watched you leave without stopping you; he had already thought it all through!”

Helian Hao said as she shook her head, thinking about Mu Yichen, that guy, truly manipulative and thoroughly cunning.
